Our Wyoming Life Hi, Could you please tell me the name of the frying pan used?
You guys should set up an AIRBNB on the Ranch and let folks get a taste of an American Ranch by helping a bit with chores. A mini dude ranch for folks that want to see how real Ranches work. Cheers.
That might be fun but I'd be afraid of the liability, I know dude ranches do it and all so there are ways to do it but I also know dude ranches get pretty expensive. I'd feel bad to charge someone to clean the chicken house! lol - Mike
Ish Mael + so somebody would have to clean the chicken coop. But if you build a chicken tractor. And then you had a student move the chicken tractor. By hand each day the chickens would deposit their manure it would have fresh grass bugs. Look into the journeyman trade school. I always wondered why the calvary carried their sword on a certain side of the horse. That was a great video the resolution was fantastic. Now you heard of the four 4K. Now they have 8K. Don't waste your money buying a fancy visualize television. Where the government can watch you now. High quality nice kitchen. But some student is going to have to clean that oven. Some baking soda and some peroxide maybe a little table salt. Will clean it right up. Some guy to be dishwashers.
i would be more than willing to sign a waiver just to experience a fraction of what you have - and greetings from viewer in sunny singapore
that is a great Idea, City slick would love to experience this kinda thing. let's them do some chores and award them with steak and beer at the end of the night
Don't laugh. I had a friend that had a scrap metal business. We were watching TV one day and they had a program on about "extreme calesthenics". He made the comment they could come pay him and he'd give em all the scrap iron they could throw
Just watched this video a little late.😄
Thank you for sharing all of your videos with us and showing us your day to day on the ranch. My wife and I love your videos.
More of this please. As a cook I enjoy this stuff too.
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Keep up the great work "Our Wyoming Life" ! I was raised in farm country, but now live in Brooklyn, NY. Your channel is my escape when I'm missing home.

Yum! Love that cut of beef! Good info on timing the cooking and “resting” the beef prior to cutting it!
A good looking steak cooked the way I like it. Congratulations to the lucky winner of the steaks.
Love your pod casts!
I'll have to share this recipe with my dad. I know he will love it! Thank you for all that you do, every video is very inspiring!

Thanks Andrew! We're so glad that people like you have found our channel. We will definitely keep working to inspire and educate everyone we can. Good luck with your herd! -Erin

It's been fun to see the Mrs become more comfortable on camera as her delivery is smoothing out and becoming more... natural. Good job y'all. See you at market!
It is getting a little easier lol! Thanks for watching!!! -Erin
I stumbled into the video today and it was so mouth watering. I have to admit I cook my steak the same way but I love the thyme and garlic addition. Love love filet of beef, it is the best! Ribeye my second favorite. Thank you Erin.
Yes on keeping them for yourselves!
Hi Erin, I'm really learning & appreciating whatever I learn from both yourself & Mike, something my universities haven't taught me about my family's farm-ranch, keep sharing as you can, I was born a mother's Day baby May 9th 1963 & I'm going to try your recipe for cooking beef tenderloin steak, a ranchers steak, thanks again & may God bless your entire family, for all you do for all of us willing to listen & learn
I love watching your Way of life. Hard working team
Made my mouth water just watching u cook it my favorite steak cook the same love y’all videos make sure mike doesn’t eat it all up lol keep u the great work as a retired trucker I’ve hauled my share of cows love it
My mother was raised on a working Montana ranch and I (in my 60's now) spent summers there and worked there on and off all my life including now. I knew many, many lifelong ranchers and ranch hands, every one preferred their meat well done, I was not introduced to rare meat until later in life and loved it. I never could convince these tough hardened men to try it. So, to me a real ranchers steak is well done. Yours looks wonderful to me though!!
Good morning. Merry Christmas from New Jersey. Home in quarantine with covid. Watched the live stream of OWL and you recommended this video.looks delicious. Hope you have great holiday Season
Looks really really good!
Outstanding!!
looks amazing! Must be really satisfying to eat a delicious meal that you raised!
It does feel pretty good. I love it in the summer when the garden is in full swing and everything on our plates comes from the ranch! Thanks for watching! -Erin
Looks so great!
30 episodes! I've watched everyone of them and I'm not even a cowboy! But one thing in common, I love tenderloin filet's, and would love two for me n the misses...
They are super delicious. Good luck to you and thanks for being such a great subscriber!!! -Erin
I made my sons amd I a steak after following Erin’s directions. It was delicious!
really enjoy your videos. All my animals have a great life, with only ONE BAD DAY. Over all, I think that is a great life for them!!
Very true, thank you very much - Erin
I have a well seasoned black skillet and tonight it will get a ribeye cooked just like this. Yummy.
Fruit of your labour....enjoy!!!
Love your message.
Oh Mike, that looks frickin' delicious. Cooking edition is a great, great idea. Keep up the good work =)
It was frickin' delicious. Probably more cooking episodes in the future. Thanks. -Mike
U may think that I'm crazy but living on the ranch would be blast for me do that type of work was always fun
Drooling....wonderful thanks.
Well that answers what’s for dinner tonight. Thanks!
Great video. I shop local farmers markets/roadside stands in the summer months, that's all we get here in New England. Local farm meat and eggs taste so different than factory farm produce. I don't get it often but what a difference.
It really amazing how good they taste when kept pure and simple!! Thanks for shopping local!! -Erin
Wow! Looked delicious! 😋
NIce! That is pretty well the way I cook steak BUT the one thing I have noticed is the difference between beef you get in a grocery store and that you get from local farmers. I pay a bit more in Toronto to buy my meat from farmers but it's worth every single penny.. Thanks.for your videos I can't wait to try your recipe on French toast caserole!
Love the show and wish you guys all the luck!
Thanks soooo much! -Erin
pretty soon it will be 100k then 1m subscribers! so excited to see a new video pop up in my feed.
Oh man we sure hope so!!! Thanks for watching us in our journey. -Erin
Great cut of beef there!
It was very tasty! Thanks for watching. -Erin
I often cook/smoke ribs and Boston Pork Butts. Bought from the grocery store. A friend gave me a rack of pork ribs to try and I was floored as to how much better they were. Lean and tender. I now try to buy meats and eggs from farmers whenever I find it as the store stuff is crap.
Thank you very much George, the difference can be amazing. Thanks for watching - Mike
I love buying locally from our farmers market. You guys are absolutely right that everything taste better local. Thanks for the great videos!
Your welcome. So happy to hear that you shop at your local market!! -Erin
@@OurWyomingLife 4 years later your shipping beef . Best of luck
New subscriber here... That is a perfect steak. I love the diversity of knowledge sharing in your channel.
Thanks so much!! -Erin
Great looking steak, love you guys channel. Hope the garden is doing well.
Thanks!! Garden is not doing much this week. Waiting for warmer weather. Last from date is still about 12 days away. Potatoes, seeds and onions will probably go in around the 10th. -Erin
Looked perfect and delicious
Keep the videos coming.
That's the plan!!! -Erin
i have never seen a steak as well as that one was thank you sharing your techniek
Well thank you very much! -Erin
Love your videos.
great video . Angus stakes are always awesome. that is a interesting way to cook them I'll have to try that my self
You won't be disappointed! -Erin
Absolutely love your videos. selfishly commenting because I want a shot at the steaks though. Would love to some more of these food preparation style videos or even the process you use to preserve different meats.
I have never preserved meats but I do make jam, salsa and a bunch of different pickled stuff. More cooking will definitely be happening in the future. Thanks for watching us!! -Erin
Congrats on winning the steaks, please email us at ourwylife@gmail.com and we can set up the details! -Mike
Wow that looks delicious. I can see why you keep tenderloin fillets for yourselves. :)
oh they are soooooo good. Thanks - Erin
Thanks for this video. Last week I was trying to learn about reverse searing steaks same process I guess just backwards to what you did. I was looking at buying a remote cooking digital thermometer you just put your steak in oven for a known amount of time guess you know how long from experience. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you Chris, good luck I'm sure it will be delicious! - Erin
British style is peanut oil or as they say ground nut oil.
Filets are so special that British officers were given the filets and everyone else got what ever was left.
Cooked it like a pro.
Thank you - Erin
Erin you made me hungry I stopped the video and took steaks out of the freezer and then I remembered to book 4 steers into the butcher I finished the video and I enjoy the channel.
Enjoy your steak tonight!! -Erin
This episode made me extremely HUNGRY!! I am going to try cooking my next steak like this. Thank You for sharing.
Hungry is good! Thanks for watching! -Erin
I totally agree. You should keep the tenderloin for your self.
:) thanks Danny -Mike
Jim's inner thoughts as he watched this video

-ok she's letting it come up in temp so it sears properly
-fancy pepper grinder!
-so far so good with just a good salt and pepper crust
-fancy oil bottle!

Steak is perfectly acceptable for breakfast!! Thanks for the comment!! -Erin
I'm usually a ribeye man, but that looks awesome!
Thanks!!! -Erin
We have a steak like that but the whole thing and cook in our crock pot it's the bomb
Oh I bet, probably falling apart. Thanks! - Erin
I would love to win these steaks, because I have gotten into cooking a lot here recently. I also really enjoy your show and what you are doing with it. It is very interesting to see some of the things you do to maintain your ranch. I loved the tomato episode especially because it has given me ideas on how to properly plant some summer tomatoes. Hope all is well and cheers
Thanks for the kind words Tim. I'm glad I can share some of my tomato knowledge with you. -Erin
Keep it up you will have always have me as a viewer and supporter
I saw this after Mike's gallant attempt to eat an Impossible Burger (yes, sequence is important). While I do follow (pretty much) your technique Erin, allow me to politely suggest that you get rid of the canola oil (I don't even have that crap in the house). Also, cooking with olive oil (which I did for years) is not particularly safe (yes, I love the taste, too). The only two oils I cook with are avocado and coconut. Love your channel.
I like the model T but I loved the wagon I saw at the start of a vidio. Injoy your channel... Bill
Thanks Bill, we actually have quite a few wagons. Usually I put them out on display but this year with the building of my mother in laws house and all the truck traffic and stuff I decided to keep them put away. Next spring they will definitely be going out again. Thanks - Mike
I'd love to eat a steak like this, growing up on Long Island, NY means that I have never gotten the chance to eat anything that fresh!
:( That's not good. Thanks for watching! -Erin
I pretty much do this... only difference is i add Wyoming Steak Rub I buy when im in Casper... its just perfect for steaks... basically salt pepper and some spices...
yum well done.
Tenderloin, chateaubriand, is also my favorite cut:) $35 a pound.
Everyone running over here to learn how to cook this during the live stream !
Erin based on the date of this video.. it was over 2 years ago.. i don't think you might still picking any viewer for some steak... which by the way i don't remember when i had any beef last! I eat mostly ground turkey and chicken and pork, but i wouldn't turn down any beef.. i enjoy following your channel on UA-cam thanks for the
good content you and Mike put out there BTW Mike voice intro's and closing comment sounds like Marty Stouffer of Wild America show.. i think that a great connection with your older viewer's. Thanks for sharing this.
I am in. I would love two of those steaks! I am already subscribed.
I envy mike now that looked fabulous I'm not so lucky my wife can burn water, in fact that's when we know our food is ready when the smoke alarm goes off
You're right Dave, he is too spoiled! - Erin
oh man that steak looked delicious nice job Erin!
Thank you very much!! -Erin
Looks mouth watering good.
Thank you!! -Erin
Looks delicious, and it would pair well with farm fresh eggs.
Breakfast of champions!! -Erin
perfect
I'm all in, thanks
One of the great rewards of your channel is the generous way you both share of your chosen lifestyle! How about a little detail of the skillet you had used to brown and finish that wonderful cut of meat? Make? Copper center? Maybe when time permits a review of the skillet copied to the manufacturer? Sounds like the start of an episode of Our Wyoming Life's Cookware Review ... -Bob
The brand of the pan is Technique. It says on the bottom that it is a tri-ply stainless steel. Cookware review would be a neat addition to the channel. My mom bought us a entire set of the Technique pans over 10 years ago and they still are my go to pan. I really haven't bought any other pans in the last 10 years lol! Thanks for watching! -Erin
Thank you!
You're welcome Jennifer, thanks for watching - Erin
Yum..yum
Wait. Wait. Wait. It is not selfish to keep them filets. You earned that! Okay, rant over.
Your channel is awesome and I’d love to try your steaks!
Thank you Scott, if you are ever in the area let us know! - Mike
Send steaks. I never knew cow tipping was a myth
It's totally a myth. Can't be done lol. -Erin
Hello Erin,
How do you prefer to clean a cutting board after resting steak? Do you use white vinegar or a little soap and hot water then add a touch of cutting board oil as needed? Many thanks and I really enjoy your videos! I hope you have a great Mother's Day!
I use soap and water and occasionally some mineral oil. My cutting board is bamboo. I of course never put raw meat on it. Thanks for watching and I'm looking forward to a lazy Mother's day. Might even take the whole day off lol! -Erin
Thank you for using canola oil.
Yum!!!!
I would love to try that steak 😊
Wow a beautiful steak! Love to win here in California
Best steak is free steak!
For sure!!!! -Erin
Mhm!!!!!!! Steak (Homer Simpson drooling). Looking good :)
lol Homer Simpson!!!! Thanks for watching! -Erin
3:33 me and a buddy in the background smelled steak 🚚💨💨. Come open the gate beep beep!
Steak would be just lovely.
You're entered. Good luck!! -Erin
Omg! This looks amazing, but I like mine well-done. Can we use Rosemary too?
Of course, Make it your own! - Erin
The Rancher's Tenderloin Steak looks like an absolute winner Erin! 2-3 min each side and into the oven.
What do you do if a cow has infection or is sick if you don't use antibiotics? Love your videos!!
So for us if it is a sick cow we will use antibiotics. When we say we are antibiotic free we mean that we don't give them antibiotics for no reason. Many feed lots where cattle are finished for large production use antibiotics as a preventative measure and give calves antibiotics with feed whether they are sick or not. Thanks for watching. -Mike
Our Wyoming Life thank you mike!! New viewer here... Starting from the beginning and working my way to your new videos. If you're bored, check out humphreyfamilyholsteins I just started with three calves and created a UA-cam channel. If you get around to watching, please leave tips. My wife and I are new and could use any tips you may have. - Ryan
Thanks Ryan, will do. - Mike
we say FILLIT in Yorkshire, UK.
pork FILLIT is super too.
That steak looks amazing! Y'all shouldn't feel selfish for keeping those cuts. You worked hard for them. Would love to win the steaks though.
You're entered to win!! Good luck. Thanks for watching. -Erin
Where can I find your meat for shipping?
I love your channel guys! Enter me in your contest!
Gotcha you entered! Thanks for watching!!!!! -Erin
At the beginning, were you saying broccoli rabe for "slice it, salt it and eat it raw"? I've never tried, but will now!
I was saying kohlrabi. It's a type of cabbage that is delicious!! -Erin
Well that is awesome you're doing a giveaway for those of us that may not have easy access to local producer cuts of meat.
One of the things you mentioned in this video was that you can look a customer in the eye and tell them that no hormones or antibiotics were used on the animals. Why exactly is it bad if an antibiotic had to be used on an animal that we end up eating?
In large feed lots antibiotics are commonly given even if animals are not sick. They help them grow faster and prevent any sickness that might occur from living in crowded, stressful and sometimes unclean situations. If antibiotics are over used the animals can become antibiotic resistant just like humans. Antibiotics are totally unnecessary in a small scale production. Thanks! -Erin
