Laura Reynolds (Elizabeth Taylor) is a free spirit, living in rustic bohemian splendor in an oceanfront Big Sur home. Minister Edward Hewitt (Richard Burton), a school headmaster, lives a life as constrained as his clerical collar. Now his world is changing. Blessed with a devoted wife (Eva Marie Saint), he must come to terms with his love for another woman. Any guess who she is? Love was in the air. So was music, in the form of 1965's Oscar®-winning Best Song "The Shadow of Your Smile." And fans were in theatres, eager to witness on-screen the charismatic chemistry that made Taylor and Burton the decade's most scrutinized off-screen couple. Academy Award® winner* Vincente Minnelli (Gigi, An American in Paris) directs this bittersweet tale that was one of its year's top box-office hits.
Directed By Vincente Minnelli
Starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Eva Marie Saint

An ADULT love story. Not a teen flick. Love and attraction as it can really happen in life. No matter who you are. A beautiful score and a hauntingly beautiful love theme. Two of the most desired people on the screen at that time. Always will be a hauntingly beautiful film to watch.
One can argue about the quality of this film but Elizabeth Taylor was at the height of her beauty and that is inarguable
This song always makes me cry...
Right there with you

Definitely one of my favorite movies.... ❤
Very nice cinematography along California's Big Sur. The song "Shadow of Your Smile" won an Oscar. Listen to the version by Tony Bennett - it's the finest (sadly he died today at age 96 - may he Rest in Peace).

Always was and always will be a feel good film ...no matter how many times you see it almost each time is like the first ... remember the night it opened in Toronto the audience participation would make you think you were watching a stage show even hanging around afterwards talking about it back then the Burtons could read a phone book ... and draw a crowd ...!😊
