The increasingly sophisticated production value in your channel is really cool to see. I loved the opening of this video. Plus I love a AEF road trip and I’m happy the doggie could come!
Towing a 3000 lb trailer with my Tacoma reduces the mpg from 20 to 12 mpg. On the other hand, I find driving our EV (not towing) in the Colorado mountains to be surprisingly efficient. Mountain highways require slower speeds which probably makes the biggest difference. The regen also helps.
This is our first time writing to you guys. First of all, great job on all your videos. I have learned a lott from all your travels. Most of us havelong-distancee anxiety. But your videos are showing that most of the time we need a break anyway and with goodplanningg it's OK. Plu, 90% of the tim, electrification is just fine for everyday life... Thanks for your hard work... The Banks Family
I love to see your kids love showing off and interrupting your videos as much as mine do! Every time we take a road trip as a family and I start recording, my boys do the same things as yours around 18:00 was doing 🙂
Yeah, as a parent we believe it is important to bring them along in what your doing. I think they just want to be apart of our lives, which is sometimes hard to do as busy parents. Keep going!
Great video. Hope you had a great time at River Run. Salida, Co has a great Rivian charging station at the Safeway. Also a new RV park in Salida. Lots to do in the area.
Very cool seeing what you do with EV’s. My wife and I both have EV’s and we love em… not going back to ICE. Love that you show your audience that EV’s can go the distance as I get soooo many comments on how EV’s suck.
@@AllElectricFamily I agree, I hope we see more charging and more support from our communities and government. Keep up the good work and keep spreading the word so that more people understand that the switch is not bad at all.
I've been using those chargers all summer ( the grand island/quality inn ) and every time I've been there they have all been working and often full. The busiest EA I frequent. Love your videos, keep them coming!!
Hey family to begin with, very cool SKC Jersey 9-2-23 vs St. Louis. I did 2000 miles from St. Louis to Salida, CO. I had no problems charging across KS. RAN network in Broomfield CO level 3 was great. My R1T pegged at 223 kWh. I was not towing and traveling light. Next FREE charge Salida CO, Free is GREAT, especially because I like to drive fast. The R1T is an incredible vehicle. Instead of a drive it felt more like navigating and in the Mountains up and over Independence Pass and Monarch Pass passing slower traffic it felt like I was slaloming through the undulating roads. Thanks for posting this video. Nay sayers need to think out of the box, adventures happen there is nothing like a Rivian. Hays KS, 101 degrees F began at 6% state of charge, ended at 94% state of charge after 1 hour and 15 min EA Walmart Hays KS.
Thanks for the great video! If I’m not mistaken, coincidentally that is the same campground we are headed out to this Friday! We’ll be hitting some of the same chargers so appreciate the heads up and which ones were working well for you!
I love the video for a good chuckle, the amount of time spent on charging and getting to them kinda ruins the fun. I know when I leave on a trip of 1,200 miles I stop once, towing 7k with diesel, one time , zero stress.
So the older I get the less concerned about getting there fast. EV offer a change in thinking, slow pace of travel means am less fatigued once I arrive.
As I said before beautiful family, AMAZING amount of patience. I wasn't surprised to see empty liquor bottles at one of the charging stations, surprised there weren't more.
Great video. The only thing I might say is a nice trailer. I would probably not notice what was towing it. How do you pick the truck you are going to use?
I drove that Berthoud pass road once driving a loaded U-Haul truck to help some friends move to Granby. I averaged ~15 mph on I-70 and about 7 on the switchbacks over the pass. It had no cruise control so my right leg caught fire with cramps. It's amazing how hard your brain tries to push the accelerator down when there's a looooooong line of cars behind you. 🤣
Do you have FE interior? How do you like it? I think your T has BM right? We are hung up on interior colour right now. Other question I have - do you use a rear-view monitor on your trailer? We installed one and the screen uses a 12V outlet in the truck, which apparently new builds don’t come with anymore…
In the very near future, trailers will be power-assisted with their own batteries and hub motors, and towing will have zero impact on range. Eventually your AirStream will have around 300hp. Imagine that.
We have a f-150 and have a Rockwood 2509S travel trailer. Waiting on the Cybertruck. My dilemma is the terrible aerodynamics of the trailer. How much easier is the Airstream to tow? Is a aerodynamic trailer a must with a EV tow unit?
Aerodynamics matter quite a bit. We did a video a ways back comparing a "traditional" trailer to an Airstream towing with an EV that's worth a watch. But a lot will depend on how much range the Cybertruck will get and how aerodynamic it is! Overall though we do feel like an aerodynamic trailer is very beneficial when towing with an EV.
It seems the Electrify America or Chargepoint are not reliable 😮… It seems that Tesla has a better Supercharging network… I really liked your video with your Tesla Model X and the Airstream!!!
In average 40 min stop every 2hr driving It would be great if charging time can be 2x faster or the having more efficient towing so you could drive 3hr instead of 2hr
We thought the same thing...now we have realized that with 3 kids making it 3 hours without stopping is a pipe dream. The distance we can go has actually been just about perfect.
I think it’s just a different mindset. You’re not going to cannonball in an EV towing. You have to be willing to slow down an enjoy the journey. And with that beautiful Airstream and lovely family, that doesn’t appear difficult for them.
If the charging infrastructure is in place and it works, reacharging every 100 miles to do 1 or 2 trips a year isn't the absolute worst. Yes it is slow, but it does work. Great video.
I drive dealer cars for a living, move cars from dealer to dealer... all the other drivers hate the EVs because they're scared of them. They say all the same things you read in the comments.
By far my favorite road trip channel.
Awww, thank you so much! We really appreciate it!

And regen saves your brakes as well.

good job with the video.. we got ours this week in Costa Mesa CA. Lots of deliveries soon.
Great trip, I would like to know how long did it take you guys to get there?
Good job on sharing the stats. Most channels don't share much and leave the viewers confused and guessing.
Thanks. It takes a lot of work but want to give people as much as possible to determine what they want to do.

We would have to go the bathroom way more then once. The stress of holding it would be to much.
So, which tows the Airstream better, the Hummer the R1S or the R1T?
So the older I get the less concerned about getting there fast. EV offer a change in thinking, slow pace of travel means am less fatigued once I arrive.
We usually eat at that taco johns next to the scooters when we are charging at the ogallala EA.
One more thing … E trailers are the future. One of Munro live videos have a video on a prototype.

The last time I towed the camper in the late spring the calculation on estimated miles was way off. After recent updates have they fixed that issue?

I would have been uneasy too with a U-Haul.

have to unhook to recharge is my issue im looking at the F150 power boost to tow my 25' airstream how much 30' airstream wt and hitch wt?
f150 Power Boost maybe the most logical truck currently for people

Towing with these EVs seem like a miserable affair.
Nah I'm sure it's fun spending time together and making new memories ❤

glad your entertained, and it's worked for us
The R1S is going to make a dent in the Ford Bronco sales.
We love the R1S, it would be nice to have some open air up top.
EA has a lot of work to do.
EVs not ready for towing yet. Batteries need to be smaller and cost less... 7-10 years maybe?
I've had supposed friends say I'll run out of battery towing. The misinformation out there seems to outweigh the facts.
Electric cars could drive up to Everest if roadways could be built to that elevation on earth!

2 charging stops so off road for hour 15 minutes to drive 90 minutes? Stupid
You mad?

I'll install those chargers but will never tow electric. I watch you make fools of yourselves.
