Didn't realize they had added the RAN in Centerville, TX. I've used the Tesla SC there and had some tasty BBQ there at that stop. 900+ miles in a single day is super impressive.....y'all are road warriors! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
I'm taking delivery of a R1S on April 8th. I live in Houston, but from Oklahoma City and will be making that trip from Houston to Oklahoma, so this was a great reference.
Thanks for sharing the roadtrip experience. This is super helpful for me, who have traveled 800+ mile days in a Model 3 and am considering an R1S. I was a little surprised by the efficiency, though, as I thought sports tires would get you closer to 2.3-ish. Is the all purpose mode the explanation? Have you done other long roadtrips where you saw higher efficiency? Thanks!
It does a good job for what it is...it just needs more features, like auto lane changes. But, it does keep you in the lane on the highways you can activate it on.
I wish would talk about specs when towing your airstream with your Rivians. From what I have scene they should not be able to. They don’t have enough payload capacity to handle the tongue weight of the Airstream
@@gerradwalker346 yes siiirrrr that’s why if you use ABRP for your maps/charging, you’ll see it ask you to top up only to ~80% at most during a road trip!
Yay, Galveston. Glad y’all had a great trip. We live in Northeast TX. We actually have a small bay house in Seadrift, Tx a couple hours south of Galveston. It’s a quiet fishing town with a Population of 800 people. So very quiet and laid back. The wife and I went down a month ago in the model 3. So much fun!😎
We enjoy Galveston! We had some good friends move down to Houston at the end of the summer, so we have a feeling we'll be in Galveston more often! Thanks or watching!
@WrekEE RAN chargers are only available to Rivian owners and free for now. But they are adding payment option this month and suppose to open up to other manufacturers sometime in the future.

It seemed like it was a relatively new addition there in Centerville! But it's a great stop. And thanks for watching!
Wow. 900 miles road trip in a non-Tesla. Good job AEF. Thanks for sharing.

Love your down to earth video's. Thanks for sharing. Watching these makes me feel more comfortable to take my first EV road trip. Thank you!
Glad you're finding them helpful! As always, let us know if you have any questions about making your road trip easier!

Do you prefer the f150 lightning or rivian?
Nice one! That's a long trip in any vehicle. We're you driving in conserve mode?
Usually I believe we are in All Purpose Mode, but in low ride height...unless Steve changed it without me noticing!
Next time you come thru okc moore I'll buy lunch
Glad you checked out that RAN charger. Bonus it’s still free
That's the Centerville Texas station ......the meat market in there had these crazy looking bar stools 😂
Was this the first time you had to do an emergency stop due to battery being too hot?
Yes, this is the first and only time that's ever happened!
How many miles do you get before having too recharge?
Do you know what brand tires you have? Looking for replacements for my r1t.
Did you use the driver assist very much (lane centering/cruise control) and how well did that work?
It does a good job for what it is...it just needs more features, like auto lane changes. But, it does keep you in the lane on the highways you can activate it on.
I don’t know what it is about hearing electricity ramp up but it sounds cool
Sounds futuristic. That's another thing I love about the Rivian is the sound of the motors makes you feel like you're in a spaceship!
How long have you guys have had your R1S and your current total miles?
We got the R1S in March and we've got 13,500 miles on it so far!
Magic Wand question: Would you guys rather have a R1S with SuperCruise or a Hummer SUV with 3rd row?
I say easily the R1S with SuperCruise...but Steve might chime in with a different response.

Ya'll seem to enjoy the experience but I don't have the patience for this. Holy cow
Yeah it’s not for everyone. Appreciate you hanging out.
Surprised your kids didn’t make you stop at the Buccees in Madisonville. I’m guessing they didn’t have EV charging?
As a CCS vehicle family, how would you rate DCFC infrastructure in the areas you travel these days? Seeing any improvement (esp with EA)?
We are seeing an improvement. Mostly in the form of new chargers going in, not necessarily issues being fixed.
So stopping at 80% & continuing the journey is key in EVs? Do you ever charge more than or no?
0-80 is the same charging time as 80-100
@@Mentaloow is it really? wow I never knew. I'm new too EVs.

so RAN chargers are free to everyone? or just Rivian owners

yes houston hov lanes are dumb on 45.
Steve had to find that out for himself. 😂
I durability test these trucks and i can only pump out 120miles in a 8hr shift, you must have been constantly moving non stop
The bigger question is how are the durability tests coming. 120 miles of start/stop in/out etc is a lot of wear in a day.
Hey,Can we Collaborate on Rivian accessories about your UA-cam video?
Lol at 23 minutes. 😂
The things Dad buys them.....🤣
