David Coulthard was my favourite driver..I travelled from Greece to Italy (Imola 2001) in order to watch him racing live..I was wearing a t-shirt with his face & Mc-Laren's car & I had allong side of me an old but..strong lady from Scotland ! She was holding & waving 3 flags ! ! ! The Union Jack , the flag of Scotland & the Mc-Laren's flag ! ! ! An hour before the start of the race, I saw David Coulthard & Mika Hakkinen together on a stairwell ..It was a fantastic & unforgettable experience ! David was a real Gentleman & a Great Racer - Pilot in the Grid at his time..In my heart is a Real Champion because he managed to defeat all the champions..You are doing a great job ! You have my warm greetings from Greece ❤️!

In the 70"s DFV era 500hp, aero and wings, deathtrap cars on deathtrap circuits, deadly fascinating and heroic, and slightly insane.
The death toll was horrific by modern standards, but seemed kinda normal probably because their fathers had fought in WWII.

tyre competition was ridiculous and unsportsman like. The big teams dominated the tyre design as they were made to fit their car perfectly like mclaren and ferrari and therefore the smaller teams that also used them had no engineering freedom and often their cars didnt suit the tyre or they had to copy the designs of others. No tyre wear in some races meaning only refueling overtakes so boring as fuck gps no matter how quick and agile the cars looked and behaved as there were no on track overtakes happening. Also if your supplier was to for some reason underperform, you had a disadvantage to all the teams that were using the tyres from the second manufacturer. 2002,2004 and a lot of races from 2000-2006 were some of the most ridiculous borefests in history. Modern f1 is in a way better place. Once the cars get better at following in 2022 it will be the start of the golden era. Honestly the early 2000s were a disasterous borefest in disguise behind the nostalgia and sound. Only kimi and alonso did anything crazy to spice up some races. If it wasnt for these 2 i wouldnt be even watching.

@@ciaronsmith4995 pfffff lol. Those seasons together had less on track overtakes than 2012 alone. If you ask in the paddock everyone knows that there was basically zero overtaking back then and innovation is irrelevant when the rule itself is unfair to smaller teams. If rules stayed like that McLaren and ferrari or maybe Williams would win the next 15 years too as they did since the early 90s all the way to 2005. The rules were unfair to smaller teams, bias on the side of the tyre manufacturers was ridiculous and everyone hated the tyres aside from kimi maybe because he won races in them. 2020 alone brought more innovation than the entire 98 to 03 seasons combined. The cars barely changed at all. If you take away the sound and agility and nostalgia those seasons had very little interest. Also retirements every 2 races for every driver cause they can't fucking produce reliable engines and tyres. Refueling probably was the worst thing to happen to f1 in its history. Eliminated basically all on track battles. Also who the hell cares about tyre performance overall. Look at the points i made. It doesn't matter how fast the tyres were. The competition was horrible.

@@kevinprengemann7456 Thats what I always say, you cannot have battles nowdays, specially since DRS. Funny how in the F1 channel they call "battle" when two cars are together for three corners and then one passes the other. Without DRS you had trains yea, but it was more spectacular to see a driver risk it to attempt a pass after laps and laps of trying. Racing now could be, at least I see it as artificial, you are overtaking the guy ahead cause you have a speed advantage plus less drag (DRS), you are no longer passing on equal conditions, raw pace or based on car differences. I believe DRS makes the dominant car even more so. At least back in the day, even if you had Schumacher in the F310B and you in a Jordan, you could defend your position if you were good at it, with DRS impossible, Schumacher would have passed you in matter of seconds. The cars do have issue but literally none of them are what you have pointed out. The main issue is the weight and size of the cars. While the racing is tight and good in this new era the cars are massive and this makes tracks like Monaco difficult to race in due to the lack of room for overtaking. There is also the issue of dominance to the sport but that is nothing new and is more a result of teams adapting regulation changes better then others. Formula 1 will have an issue in the future with sustainability but thats due to the 2026 regulations and how the car functions with Max saying its faster to downshift on the Monza straight which to me personally should never be the case and the added weight is also a concern for the future as it will make overtaking especially without drs far more difficult.

F1 has always been relatively speaking boring if you arent into it. I have been watching for close to 15 years and have rewatched most of the 90s and 00s and i can say people are extremely biased towards the former eras. Nowadays track action is so much more and much better. You get so many more overtakes. Races are generally more pleasant to watch. Especially years like 2017/18/21/22 had super exiting races and battles. You rarely had any overtakes back in the day. Especially in 2010 i remember there were literally no overtakes. But thats it for the modern era. Everything else goes to the old era. Better looking, sounding, agile cars with cool sponsors, drivers with personalities, many big teams, fantastic engines etc. Also the fans were much cooler. Qualy was super unpredictable and also title fights were usually much closer. There were many variables like fuel loads, tire wars, engine blowouts etc. Nowadays you can kinda expect what will happen and the cars are super consistent. Thats what makes it boring. I am sorry, but how is today's era not by far the most boring of all. Since 2009 (and the testing ban), we have only had 1 single season in which the constructor's championship came down to the last race (2021), illustrating just how uncompetitive F1 has become. After the 2009 season, where Brawn ran away with the championship, 4 years of Red Bull domination, 7 years of utter Mercedes dominance we are now in year 2 of Red Bull's second reign of terror. This 2 horse monotony was only exacerbated by the unequal driver pairings of Vettel/Webber, Hamilton/Bottas and now obviously Verstappen/Perez.

This all made the greatest era of F1.
They began making mistakes 2006 when they went to 2.4 v8, it went more downhill 2011 introducing drs and fake overtaking, the cars already were ugly as H, only good thing was the blown diffusor, then 2014 all this sh!t with more horrible things, v6 1.6 forced induction can make 1500hp easely, help from 2 electric motors making 300hp and endless torque and no sound, fuel made from flowers and still very ugly cars, this all the total destruction of F1.
