Same here, especially the fletcher memorial home, where the drums and guitar solo kick in gets me everytime. Gunners dream and two suns in the sunset too

The Final Cut, to me, rivals The Wall in terms of art. It's way undervalued in the Pink Floyd catalog... but it's brilliant from beginning to end.

Couldn't agree more with this sentiment. The Final Cut for me through my divorce. I relate so much with the lyrics and the music is so powerful. Almost otherworldly.

First time I’ve really seen a reaction to anything from The Final Cut on UA-cam. This album is extremely underrated in Pink Floyd’s discography. This song in particular is so emotional, and you can say whatever you want about Roger Waters because of what he did to the band when he left, the man knew how to make some good damn music

I concur that The Final Cut, as an album, is underrated. For me, none of their albums packs a physiological punch like this album...except The Wall. I can't help but link the two, despite the "fact" that The Final Cut was compromised of songs that weren't "good enough" for The Wall. In all honesty, The Wall stirs my emotions, but The Final Cut tears me up inside...every time I listen to it.

One of the MOST underrated albums of all time. If they hadnt made 2 of the top 10 best selling albums of ALL TIME when this was made, it would have been more respected.
The other strike against it was that it was 3/4 Pink Floyd for most of this recording. Then in the middle of making it Gilmour leaves the day after recording NOT NOW JOHN.
It marked an end of an era until 25 years later with the assistance of Bob Geldolf (Pink in The Wall and Boomtown Rats fame) to have them reunite for charity at Live8

Ryan, I'm really enjoying your pink Floyd journey, from your initial skepticism through your gradual acceptance and now to your real appreciation. Might I suggest another less trodden track 'Cymbaline' off the 1969 'More' album, in fact the whole album is remarkable in that it was written as a soundtrack for an avant garde French film and was not regarded as a major part of their catalogue but so much of their later work has the seeds sprouting throughout this album. Yet another soundtrack album 1972's 'Obscured by Clouds' also has some sensational work, you could try reacting to 'What's Uh...The Deal' from that album.

Nice to see you giving this one a listen. Great heart felt lyrics! Two Suns In The Sunset is my personal favorite off this album. Waters actually just recorded a new 2020 covid studio version of Two Suns with his band as well as a new version of Mother which are on youtube.
I'd recommend maybe doing the whole Wall album before you get too far into the lesser known stuff though. (lesser known as in still being from a multi platinum album, just not on one of the "big 4" from the 70s lol) Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live is even better than the studio version.

If you want something that has a lot of great music that you've probably never heard of, go to "obscured by clouds", the album. Lot of great little songs that you've never heard and they never play on the radio. It was actually a soundtrack for a French movie called Le Vally done around 1970 or 71.

Listening to this as teenager, where sometimes feelings of rejection and loneliness hit you hard... this song is just overwhelming. Its just too much for your emotional capabilities at the time, to process.
Now, at 47, it hits differently, but its still a monument and a testament to Waters songwriting prowess.

Ahh, side story. When the album came out in 1983 it was with 12 songs but in 2004 to the re-issue of the CD an extra song was added ”When the Tigers Broke Free”. This song was written by Waters for The Wall album and treats the death of Waters father in a battle in Italy during WWII but the other members rejected to include the song on The Wall. Why it was not included directly on The Final Cut I have no idea but I do not listen to the album with this song included as it won’t fit for me as I learned the album without it. Like muscle memory 🤠. The song though shall be included in The Wall movie but that I’ve missed totally

The Final Cut is in much to be seen as the first Roger Waters album. Three songs are “left-overs” from The Wall that the team felt did not fit. David Gilmore came and laid some guitars but mostly or all is Rogers Waters. The story is pretty much about his memory of his father and his service in WWII and then it ties in to the Falkland war with heavy political criticism about the world’s leaders, Margret Thatcher specifically. This album is for me, a small unknown Masterpiece and over the years I have listened to this album extensively. Well worth to listen to in its full as there is a storyline in it so my recommendation is to listen to it from start to end as it has a lot of short great filler tunes in it, the first song sets the tone
“Tell me true tell me why was Jesus crucified
Is it for this that daddy died?
Was it for you? was it me?
Did I watch too much t.v.?.
Is that a hint of accusation in your eyes?”

The whole Album final. Cut. is dedicated to his dad lieutenant .Eric Fletcher waters a British officer who was killed at Anzio landing waters went searching for years looking for his dad's war grave his whole lifes work is wrapped up not knowing his dad it wasn't until recently 2017 2018 he was contacted by another British veteran who was at the battle. who searched and found waters war grave. Harry shinder is the veteran name they had a chat over the phone waters wanted to know who his father had dried. He was told he died in a ditch surrounded by Germans during the German counter attack in the pink Floyd Wall album at the Very beginning at reference is made in a short lyrical piece "when the Tigers broke free " the counter attack by the Germans during the Anzio beach landing

The album, The Final Cut, is a great album. I think what has Floyd fans in a twist was Waters lack of ability to work with others. His maniacal zeal to be king killed the magic that was Pink Floyd. The Floyd's remaining years could have been awesome for fans if Waters would have been more of a team member. With three members The Floyd did pretty well but aMLoR was not really that good in comparison to the other albums. Water's solo work? I have them but, I just can't get into them.

Actually, Waters tried to reconcile with Gilmour many times afterwards but it was Gilmour who refused to meet halfway, and even denied Waters' contributions to some of their most famous works.
