You forgot the most important part of concreting here in oz....you must complain constantly about trucks/batchers/reps/pumpy's/labourer's/the weather and other concretors whilst screeding...it makes it even more flat.

I've been concreting for 10 years in nsw australia and good to see a video on how to to properly screed concrete not like the cowboys who screed with a timber with 2 people and scissor it cough cough usa. Everything that is said in this video is 100% correct. I remember being told dont rush and get it right when I was learning. It is a lot harder than it looks in vid but technique in video is the way I was shown and the right way to do it.these screeds we use in australia that wasn't mentioned in vid, ithought I would add for anyone who didnt know. They have a sharp edge and blunt edge we always have sharp edge facing us when screeding to cut into concrete and then blunt to close up concrete when we roll screed away from us

Just a tip dont screed up to your gumboots, stop atleast half a foot before your boots and take a step back.not only does it stop the hole from filling up with slurry but you also can keep screeding with out having to stand up and having to fill comcrete with your boots...you also need good rakers or it going to be a long day at the office.

Concrete in Australia is hard than others countries, because I have worked in USA Canada and England, but in Australia concreting must be top quality when it’s come to concrete, not like screed to eye level and make looks good with bull float , we keep do chech level as we screeds,

Awesome work, I ordered an OX tools 2400 mm screed here in the US after seeing this video and I've used it a few times. What mix are you using in this video? Most of our concrete has large (up to 25mm) aggregate and it's tough to screed with this style screed. I'm pouring 75 square meters tomorrow and ordered it with smaller aggregate to see if it screeds easier. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work 👊🏻. Are you on Instagram?

    • @concreteninja

DE Vlog I think 32 MPA is about 4600 psi. We usually pour floors at 4000 psi here. I did a pool deck today with smaller aggregate and it was a little easier. Really liked the Aussie style screed. Beats a 2x4!

Tomas, are you in the USA? Slabs in Oz are finished at a faster rate and are almost always flatter and more accurately level than most of the ones we see on YT that are done by the Yanks and some others. As well, the Yanks don't use reo chairs, or mesh, waste heaps of time tying reo together (and don't seem to have the reo supported correctly), pour very sloppy concrete, use pieces of timber to screed, so it's never truly flat, then try to take out the resultant waves with gadgets like jitterbugs and rollers and so on. Then they spend forever on their hands and knees hand trowelling everything. We screed flat first, with a purpose designed aluminium screed with handle, use a laser level, so no need for the wasted time and effort to try to fix it after that. Yes, we take a bit longer to screed, but save HOURS because we don't need to fiddle forever trying to get it flat. It's dead level and flat before the bullfloat and chopper goes on. They are finishing tools and are not intended to be used to flatten wavy and uneven concrete. Get it flat first, then finish it properly.
