Recently a viewer needed help understanding how to use SampleTank 4's multitimbral mode in Cakewalk by BandLab. This short Quick Tip video will take you through the process.

Thank you so much. I've been struggling for over a year on how to get SampleTank to send each loaded instrument on its own Midi channel to Cakewalk. I followed you step by step and pausing the video along the way and wa-lah!, it's working like a champ now. Now I can load just one instance of Sampletank 4 in Cakewalk :)

You can set no excess MIDI channels and audio outputs, and save them as a track template in Cakewalk.

Do you experience hanging notes when you stop playback on tracks you used a sustain pedal for? Several of us are having this problem with Cakewalk. One person even downloaded a few VST’s in question to confirm it.
I have not had an issue with notes hanging with SampleTank 4. My first thought is checking PREFERENCES | MIDI | PLAYBACK AND RECORDING | PLAYBACK
There check to see what your PLAYBACK Buffer size is; mine is set at 256 and my driver mode is set to MME.
Also check under PREFERENCES | PROJECT | MIDI | OTHER OPTIONS and see if you have the boxes checked there. These will stop all controllers and notes on playback stop.

You could actually set it up to have 32 mono instruments, if you pan each instrument to the right and left in the ST mixer.

thanx but its a pain to put each chanell like that, mabe you have some option that open midi tracks automaticly as its on reaper? one click and you have everything routed as an audio tracks also??
You can do it that way; when you insert a virtual instrument you have the option to create all of the MIDI and Audio output tracks available to that particular plugin. I guess old habits are hard to break. I might create a short demo of this and somehow add it. .

Save your sample tank sessions as a template both in Sample Tank for the instruments you load in that session, and in cakewalk for the midi routing settings.
Does it works with SampleTank4 CS (free version)? I'm trying, but there's no sound of the keys using it by Cakewalk, and there's no comunication with the keyboard. The Sampletank4 CS works fine alone, without a daw
Fabio, sorry you are having issues. Yes, it should work exactly the same way. I would first check to see if MIDI data is being captured to a track from your keyboard? You could try inserting another VST to see if it works, then route the MIDI output to SampleTank 4 CS. Are you using Cakewalk by BandLab? If not what DAW are you using and I can try assisting further.
@@PraiseTracks I've just realized the problem. When the Cakewalk opens, I was choosing Empty project, but I have to choose the first option. Now, I have sound and comunication with the keyboard. But the sound is terrible. How can I select Asio4all?
OK, so you need to make sure you check under EDIT - PREFERENCES (or press P) - Then Look at the DEVICE Section; From there you need to select ASIO4ALL under your INPOUT and OUTPUT device.
There might be some settings as far as buffers and such you also might need to check.

Trying to set these tracks keeps crashing Cakewalk.Any idea why?It seems anything more than one channel in this configuration crasses it.
Sorry you are having issues. I would check to make sure that you are running the latest version of SampleTank 4 and choose to install BOTH VST and VST3.
If you are getting crashes trying to use the VST3, try doing the same with the VST2. I have had experiences where the VST3 can be unstable in certain instances.

OK, I just watched the video myself just now and it looks like I was using the VST3, so try the VST2 and see if it still crashes.

I am sorry you are having a problem. Make sure you have updated Cakewalk and SampleTank 4 to the latest versions. Try creating an empty project and insert SampleTank again and see what happens. OK, one thing to try is to use the VST2 version of SampleTank 4 and see if the same error is being presented. I will try and see how I can find some additional help for you.

Having trouble routing each sound in my MPC software, don't see anything in manual....I was following until you started adding so many other things now I am lost all over again.
So each part in SampleTank can be assigned to its own MIDI channel, as well as the keyboard zones and split points. These just need to match up with your MPC. I will take a look and see what might be going on.
