If you are wondering if the new Wyze Cam Pan V2 is a great smart home camera, and if it will fit your home, then this is the video for you. I have all of the details you need in our full review of the Wyze Cam Pan V2.
I haven't had a Pan Cam from Wyze in years now, as my first V1 didn't fare very well and I didn't like it. This new version from Wyze is different though, and it does a lot of great things.

I was immediately taken back by how large the new Wyze Pan Cam is. It had the same physical components in its lens as the Wyze Cam V3, but it was much bigger.
I liked that there was a 6 foot cable in the package, but I'm also wondering about how most of you won't need that distance. Still, it's nice to have the option.
Then I plugged it in. It tracked me perfectly, day or night. I enjoyed the 1080p resolution, and I like the Starlight full color night vision feature. I liked almost every scene it was in, except for a few:
- It wasn't great with backlighting, like the other Wyze Cam V3 from last year
- It wasn't great at getting clear faces with Starlight
But it had amazing night vision at 15 Frames Per Second that saw about 20 feet away no problem (Wyze says 30 but I struggled beyond 20), and it again tracked me really well.
It's speaker is fantastic, and that makes 2-way audio conversations really good. It also has a new mini-siren function that actually sounds more like a real siren at 106 dB (I measured).
I did get it to display on Google Home and Amazon Alexa smart displays. That's a nice change, although we're likely to be waiting for WebRTC to make the time delay shorter and the response speed better.
All in all, this is a good smart home camera. It's integration with Amazon Alexa is good as long as you have Cam Plus, so budget $1.99 USD per month for that (per camera) if you want to be able to trigger routines with it. The #WyzeCamPan V2 is quite the interesting device, and it's restored my want to bring more Wyze products into my home.

I've had the OG pan outside for 2 years now under my soffit. Works as well now as it did day one. Hot summers and harsh winters no problem.
I think many who've had the original will say this and feel this way!

I have had both of my pan cams out side under the eves of my house for well over a year. I have ordered one of the new version 2. I’m looking forward to replacing the one on the front of my house. The cam V3 works great, but I do like the movement to see other thinges around the front of the house. I have too many tree limbs that just drives it crazy, but that’s part of the drawbacks. The cost of this system is what make them cost effective. I will go back thru your video when mine arrives.

My pan wyze cam has been inoutside (underneath the overhang) in MN. -30F weather and 110F... Still works, night vision might have gotten worst or maybe it always sucked.
Yeah I never found the original night vision to be amazing but this one's better if you're using this outdoors.
@@AutomateYourLife Surprisingly when the driveway is covered in complete snow, I think that helps with the nightvision lol.

13:35 Is the lag at all to do with your router’s reach? I’m having a three-second delay with the doorbell pro and was advised to get a wifi extender so that the device makes contact faster with my network.
Any extra relay in your network will likely add additional lag...so that's potentially bad advice. If your wifi signal is bad at the spot where the camera is, then this could help.
Your network does need to have low latency. So maybe use Fast.com on your phone in the spot to see loaded and unloaded latency

Hi Brian, I have the wyze cam pan v1, is it worth to upgrade ?
The tracking is MUCH better than I remember it (I got rid of my V1 because it didn't work right for me) and the Night Vision is much improved. I don't find Starlight all that useful so it's not a big reason to upgrade for me. Otherwise, it's much better quality video overall.
So...worth it? I'd say so generally. Depends on the use case

Will this camera announce motion and pet detection on Echo devices?
Sadly, right now Echoes can only announce person detection. And that's with a Cam Plus Lite sub at least.
it would be helpful if Wyze added a noise filter to reduce the wyze motor noise when the camera turns

I think I purchased both of my V1 cameras at Home Depot. With supply chain issues, that will be slow coming to them. Too bad.
I think Wyze is going to have a little more inventory these days. :) They got a good round of funding, and it's showing in the release of new products.
This is a nice timely review, Brian. I bought one for testing and it's supposed to be delivered today. I thought I was finished buying cameras, but this looked like enough improvement in specs to be worth a look. I see there's no longer a USB port on the back that was being used for the discontinued Wyze Sense module. I liked the Wyze Sense system with the tiny sensors, but it's gone and their current sensors are about normal size. The siren is a pretty cool addition. I've always liked Wyze's ability to share devices with another user using their own Wyze account...they don't even need to have a camera. This makes it handy if you're keeping an eye on someone as a caregiver. Thanks again.
You're always on that cutting edge Hugh! This is a good one, but the loss of Wyze Sense will be felt for a while yet.

If it works like the original V2 pan, it will soon be another expensive boat anchor. The gears that move it side to side will jam up and you will hear thrashing of the gears. If you do buy, buy directly from wyze and you can pull up your purchase on your account to initiate a warranty replacement. Then keep that for the next warranty replacement.. Get the V3 instead.
I had the first pan cam and had trouble too. This seems solid though so far. Not saying go buy one if you had a bad experience, but it's been rock solid since!

I can't find the siren button for Pan Cam v2. I have a v3 cam and it's under the ...more button. I have an Android phone. Anyone know where it is?

Anyone else have problems with this Wyze Cam Pan v2 going offline and giving an error code 90?
It doesn’t even give me cloud recordings anymore since I updated the firmware. I wanted to watch me cat but now I’m in another state
You need to sign up for Cam Plus Lite and choose $0 payment per month. Then re-enable your recordings
@@AutomateYourLife why did they make it so difficult to find that out. I found out on my own by clicking the photo icon in the bottom left corner of the picture it took, and then spent 5 minutes navigating around the web page looking for cam plus lite

When wyze first had to eliminate person detection I decided to stop any and all firmware updates since the AI that controls person detection lives on the device. So while this v2 certainly is an upgrade, especially the motor (my v1 is loud) I'm just not willing to pay for something that already came free with my v1. Subscriptions really bug me, that's why I'll be replacing my ring doorbell with a eufy when my yearly subscription is up.
Gotta do whatcha gotta do. I don't live the subscriptions either but it's kinda the state of automation in many cases these days. Eufy's good and they've held off so far on that front but...we shall see!
interesting. I actually like the inexpensive subscriptions to provide offsite backup of most events in case the cam is stolen or damaged. I have also been paying Nest for online Cam storage for a few years now. will have a look at Eufy but do like the combo of cloud storage and local storage.

Well it can do people detection, but there's no specific mode for animals. So you'd just get motion detection notices if you enabled that mode
I promise that when I'm at work I will play on mute just to get that algorithm push

With their subscription it has a pet mode detection, as far as I can tell with the v3 it can differentiate humans from dogs and cats, haven’t tried any other animal
This is basically the same as v1 Except a few tiny things…didn’t you review the v1?
Never on the channel. Sure it looks like the V1 in a lot of ways, but the quality is way higher. That enables features to work properly...so I don't think it's the same at all actually!
