    Therabody recently released their line of 2nd generation RecoveryAir devices, which features the Prime, JetBoot, and Pro models. The Prime are the most basic version of their devices. The device is bluetooth enabled, however given the proximity of my review to their release, the app has not yet been updated with the new RecoveryAir devices so I was unable to show those features in this review.
    These compression recovery systems are designed to increase blood flow and decrease lactic acid via pneumatic compression, getting you back to training and competing as fast as possible.

    I had gen 1 of these boots. Both my ankles would sweep and I had some discoloration on my shins etc. these boots are a life saver and I can’t go a day or two without using them.

    Perfect timing for your review as I’m thinking of picking this one up this week! Great detailed review! I’m so glad ran into your channel as I was thinking of getting the Normatec because that’s what almost everybody have.

    Great review! When should you use them? After my workouts, I typically use a foam roller and then a Theragun - does this replace either? And is it ok to use several hours after a workout, such as when watching a movie after dinner, or should it be used within an hour or so of your workout?

    • @BestMassageTech
      @BestMassageTech  2 роки тому +4

      These won’t replace a massage gun or foam roller. Yes, you can use whenever you want. They are nice as a gentle warmup and great at any point post workout. I typically use them an hour or so after but sometimes use before bed as well just to relax.

    Great video review! Struggling between prime vs jetboots as the sale is only a $100 difference between the two. Would this tip your decision towards the jetboots? I also figure less hosing and attachments longer life span. Thoughts?

    Thanks for this review. Do you find the faster cycling to be a benefit or is it something that could ve unpleasant? Don’t your legs get “tired” of such fast compressions? I also believe this unit doesn’t fully deflate at the end of the cycle, could that also contribute to a bad massage experience? Can blood flow into your lega between cycles? Thanks

    • @BestMassageTech
      @BestMassageTech  2 роки тому

      Yes I do find the faster cycling to be a benefit. You are correct it doesn’t fully deflate but it does still allow blood to flow between cycles. It’s very comfortable.

    Great review! How would you differentiate this with the recovery air pro besides the price? I know there are more accessories adaptable to the pro but is there anything else that is actually worth spending another $600? Plus, what brand would you recommend, normatec or therabody? Which one would you get more features and better quality for your money? Thank you for all that you do.

    • @BestMassageTech
      @BestMassageTech  2 роки тому +1

      The pro allows for more customization - more precise pressure in each chamber, more routines, you can adjust hold and release times. Depends what you all plan to use it for but for most people it’s likely not worth it but the attachments are a significant draw. I prefer the Therabody ones over Normatec.

    Great detailed review but I wonder whether the max pressure is strong enough. I get sport massages once/twice a week by a professional masseuse and he can get very deep into my muscles. Pleasantly painful. Is the max pressure comparable to what I get from the masseuse? I was told that level 7 of Normatec is pretty strong but I do not know about therabody. What is your experience? Is the max pressure the same between the pro, the ject and the prime therabody models?

    • @BestMassageTech
      @BestMassageTech  2 роки тому +1

      No, if you are buying these in an attempt to mimic a sports massage, you will not be satisfied as that is not the intent of these (at least not for the Therabody line). Their primary intent is to move fluid and therefore the max pressure is intentionally designed to only go slightly higher than the average diastolic blood pressure level for most people. That said, the Therabody boots on the high end pressure is similar to the Normatec so if you find Normatec to be strong enough, then yes, these would be. The max pressure on all of the Therabody boots is the same. If you are looking for a strong squeeze, I would recommend you look into the Rapid Reboot line as they have a higher max pressure.

    Hello, best review so far! I have a question tough, is that important the "negative gradient compression"? And chambers overlap? I am asking this because I want to buy a system to drain my lactic acid after workouts and I was considering before watching this the Air Relax Leg Recovery System (619 euro tax and shipping included in Europe). I was under the impression that bigger the pressure is better but after watching your reviews I see that you have found more aspects to consider. I cannot overlook the fact that you were so excited after testing your first boots (Air Relax ones) and I am thinking that "true negative gradient compression" is not such a big deal... but maybe I'm wrong.

    • @BestMassageTech
      @BestMassageTech  2 роки тому +4

      From a feel perspective, devices with and without a negative gradient compression do feel similar however the big difference is that the gradient helps ensure your fluids move back to your core. Think about squeezing a tube of toothpaste from the bottom to the top (negative gradient) versus grabbing the tube and just squeezing it all with the same pressure (no gradient - the toothpaste goes everywhere inside the tube. Yes some comes out the end but not as efficiently). Devices without overlapping chambers have a similar effect. As the air transitions from one chamber to another if there’s no overlap any fluid that has been moved closer to your core has an opportunity to flow back down your legs as there’s not constant pressure being applied to move it.
      So in summary, they might feel similar but the effectiveness is not the same overall.

      @@BestMassageTech thank you very much!
      I just bought the new Rapid Reboot Go Lite, 499 euros shipping included is imbatabile. It has overlapping chambers and I will mimic the true gradient by using the progressive chamber inflation mode. I watched your rating system and this scored way higher than Air Relax.

      I typically never use for longer than 30 min. I think what you've described for how you're using them is perfectly fine (although I'm not a medical professional). There are many high end units that have 8+ hour long cycles, so I think you are fine as long as you are not doing any sort of cycle that never deflates.

The pro allows you to do multiple routines, control the pressure in each chamber with more precession, adjust the hold times and adjust the release times. In summary it allows for a lot more customization.

Personally, I think the analog controls of the Gen 1 are more robust. The compression suit itself is probably very similar, if not the same - just in a different color. Why pay extra when they do the exact same thing? The new generation doesn't apply any more pressure.

    What's weird is the Prime's only support the sleeve attachment whereas the Pro supports all the attachments. Can't tell if it's a money grab to get people to upgrade to the Pro's.
