Go to a quiet room by yourself and lay down, because this sounds like God, trying to reach us, through His music. In this, the year of 2020, may we find a way to forgive others, live in peace and start anew in our lives without bitterness or fears.
Absolutely lovely voices...such beautiful tone, balance and blend. Congratulations on a wonderful presentation. Barber would be pleased with your offering.
dude! the goosebumps it gives me are insane! I'm not even a christian, they lyrics could easily be "Mary Had a Little Lamb" but the perfectly synchronized harmonies in this song leave me in tears, it's absolutely glorious.
I don't know what it is about this song, I'm not even a Christian, so the lyrics could be just about anything, but the way the harmonies work in this song leave me with goosebumps and tears. Samuel Barber's choral arrangements are an absolutely beautiful creation.
Until few days ago I didn't realize the beauty of choral music although I'm quite educated in all sorts of music, from ethnic to classical and jazz. But not in this one. So, few days ago my dear father died after long illness and I had to look for the appropriate music for the funeral procession. I knew Mozart's Requiem but that was it. And then I've found this masterpiece that I had known only in the orchestral version. And it has stricken me right in the heart. As well as Allegri's Miserere mei, Deus and Mozart's Ave verum Corpus. But Lacrimosa part from Mozart's Requiem is still my favourite. When I hear it, I'm unable to hold my tears. Even before, when I wasn't mourning. Those violins at the beginning realy hurt.
One of the most sublime pieces of music and a seminal statement of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God for the sins of the world. Kudos to the basso profundos.
It's beautiful and sad at the same time,,,thank you for the tears of joy 🥺🙏 I'm listening some hip hop music all times, all days but this one is the exception. "A MASTERPIECE",,,"A JEWEL",,,,A SOUND OF ANGELS" I think, this is the sound of the Heaven when it's time for you and me to leave this world.
So much to like/love about this group. I've been watching as many performances as I can find on UA-cam and their consistency and excellence is remarkable. Balance, blend, dynamics and nuance are all there. This Agnus Dei is stunningly beautiful and moving, and they deliver phrase after phrase with precision and passion, hitting every emotional peak without over-singing and distorting the expression. It's a pleasure to see and hear a choral group singing with such fine technique and delivering the music so powerfully, essentially allowing the music and composers to speak/sing through them. You need an exceptional director and conductor to guide and shape this wonderful and expressive singing. Culloton is a standout, and he and his singers are a pleasure to watch and a treat to hear.
Dale did it better. Culloton fancies himself as inheriting the legacy of the Warland Singers, even intentionally crafting the choir name as such. He doesn't measure up though. He lacks subtlety and often comes off sterile and passionless. This recording only sounds as profound as it does due to Barber's brilliance.
Thankyou Choir Master & Choir Barber was Divinely Inspired to write such deeply spiritual & profoundly moving worship & adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ the Holy Lamb of GOD this performance is pure beauty tears were running down my face Thankyou LORD GOD ALMIGHTY for Your Tender Mercy & Loving kindness to us Your children.
its always disappointing to hear the noises of the people who cannot keep still or wait to tidy their possessions until AFTER this deeply Spiritual music is finished just astonishing.
After a minute and some change. Had to try and figure out which one was hitting the high note. had to re-watch it again. Then I seem her. She can hit that note with ease. Good job kids.
Our LORD JESUS CHRIST knew what He must do......the terrible Suffering & Torture He must go through to pay for our Sin words cannot describe GOD's Love for us & the Love of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST for us....Repent Watch Pray
Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei is a choral arrangement of his timeless work, Adagio for Strings. Barber put the Latin words of the liturgical Agnus Dei to his original 1936 work. The score calling for a mixed choir and optional accompaniment was written in 1967. The composer set religious words to this theme after reflecting for some time on how the Adagio for Strings was taken by the public and critics. After seeing how people associated his music with mourning and passion, Barber wanted to add a spiritual twist to this famous theme. Marked up similarly to the original, the slow introduction of the voices at the beginning prepares the chapter for the rest of the piece. Barber uses the words of Agnus Dei to dictate which intonations should be set to what voicings from the original. Initially it is the voice soprano who take the lead with the melody, but later on some of the other voices take the reigns of the melody. The repetition of the phrase « Agnus Dei » is significant as it shows what Barber was wanting from this arrangement. The haunting atmosphere of Agnus Dei has a similar effect to Adagio for Strings, with both using sustained lines and slow-moving melodies to create the desired effect. Although perhaps not as famous that the instrumental work, Agnus Dei is however popular in the register of choral music, with a number of futuristic vocal recordings of the work. Music is a beautiful refuge against the imperfection of the world. To Marie-Jeanne. *Lucien*
the racket coughing snapping shutting shuffling turning of pages in boredom ? coming from the audience spoils this otherwise sublimely exquisite performance
For me, the litmus test has always been how long does the choir hold "Pacem". Grief has most often presented this big bucket of unsorted, raw emotion in the first stage. Which seems to go on forever. When they curb "pacem " too soon they may be neat, but they lose the immense opportunity. I give this rendition a B.
It's not bad but they just don't have the experience yet. A lot of their members look a bit younger than I'd expect. Maybe in another town or fifteen years.

He means the Roman Catholic Church. He is obviously a Fundamentalist Protestant Christian. I am an Atheist (worse than the RCC), but I am still capable of awe and wonder. This is a truly stupendous piece of music...and very difficult to sing. I end up crying every time!!!
Unfortunate that you can't enjoy this beautiful music and the power of the voices for what it is. I wish you peace and love from the Lord Jesus Christ.
@@scottbernal3924 If only you took the time to really study the bible, and understand how far the Catholic church is away from what the word of God actually says. Best wishes to you.

The orchestral version of this is quite a piece, but the choral version touches me in a way the other cannot. So serene and angelic.
Agreed.
There is no instrument that will ever top the human voice -
The choral version is where the Adagio for Strings became fully realized.
Does anyone listen to this and not sit there in tears..? The voicing is so rich and stellar..

There’s nothing left for us here. Let’s go.
The note or pitch is correct at 1:32 but all voices are not the same as some are lighter in their sound and some more dramatic. Chill-out man.
It's not bad but they just don't have the experience yet. A lot of their members look a bit younger than I'd expect. Maybe in another town or fifteen years.

In this world the devil has the best music, as demonstrated here. Created for a church that is totally oposite to the bible
