This is a positively delightful performance of this Handel work. It shimmers with the rhythmic vitality characteristic of Handel. The use of original instrumentation is a delightful addition, as is the vocal instrumentation, which utilizes countertenors on the alto line. Bravo to the conductor, the singers, and the orchestra for performing this Coronation Anthem in a manner befitting any king.

This Seraphic Fire group is pretty damned good! Their productions of works by Handel seem especially well crafted. That this is an American group able to stand with the more famous British groups who proudly and justifiably produce above average Baroque recordings makes this all the more noteworthy. Serious music collectors would do well indeed to seek out and add works by this group.

A really fine performance which I enjoyed very much.
Well done for the immaculate enunciation of the words - as important in native English as it is in Italian or German, or any other language; one always dreads hearing that the chorus’s ‘hard is indiding’, but this was just perfect.

Superb performance. And they're clearly enjoying themselves. What a treat - and so apropos that it was performed at Trinity Wall Street. King George II commissioned the coronation anthems from Handel, and George II also donated the property upon which Trinity Wall Street sits to the congregation from Crown Estate land in southern Manhattan. Hanoverian synergy.
