This video has enhanced my flight simming experience by a mile, got two iPads and an Android out of the dusty loft and now my sim looks FANTASTIC THANK YOU MATE, from the United Kingdom
I just set up spacedesk to use an iPad as a extension monitor for MSFS 2020. Works great. Any advice on how to set up a second iPad as an additional extension monitor? Thanks.
Glad you found it useful! You can setup an additional iPad the same way. Install the client on the iPad and connect to the Server as you did the 1st one. You can then confirm the connection in the display settings.
If you can pop out the Gauge to it's own Window, and move it to a different monitor then the answer is yes. The simulators will just see the tablet/phone as any other screen when using SpaceDesk.
Nice tip about SpaceDesk!! Thank you! But what about how to build a screen with basic instruments, as shown in the video? The video did not mention how to do. I found some commercial solutions for this, but I'd like to know if this video used one of them, or maybe some other way to create a simple panel with standard gauges (not G1000 or other Garmin screens).
Thanks for the comment. I will make sure to add that information to the video. To have a panel custom built, look into Air Manager. You will have to pay for it but it is totally worth it as you wll be able to recreate any of the panels you see in many aircraft.
Great Video, thank you! One question: The ALT Gr method only copies the display of my GPS-unit but not the buttons. I was hoping, that I can make the handling of the GPS easier with the touch-screen of my Ipad.... But I can't see any buttons in the extra window - is there a trick?
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately this is a limitation of the Simulator. They only copy the Screen and not the entire Bezel so that you can use it with Hardware that already has the bezel of the instrument (physically). In order to pop-out what you want, you would have to re-draw the entire Instrument/cockpit area and this gets a bit more complex. I would look into a software like Air Manager.
Congratulations on the excellent work with your simulator. After configuring the panels using extra monitors and tablets, how do I not lose the configuration made? Or every time I log into MSFS will I have to configure everything again?
Thanks for the comment. Most of these simulators suffer from this problem. What I do is configure all of the screens first and make sure they are in place. I then run the Simulator. This works beautifully in X-Plane as it does remember the position; however I have to say I have not tested this enough in MSFS.
Really great video Joshua! Thanks a lot. I was able to install eveything but the table now only shows me my desktop. How do I put my radioes on there from MSFS2020? Is that done in MSFS?
Thank you so much for the comment. If your radios can be "Popped out" and moved to another monitor, then you just drag and drop them over like you see on my video, but you have to be able to do so with the radio (2D Instrument).
Yes. Once you have it connected properly just treat it as an additional monitor. The same way you would move a window to a secondary monitor you would do to a tablet, phone, Touchscreen etc., on SpaceDesk.
Yes .. This video Is very helpful. I really didn't know that I can connect my mobile phone to FS 2020. but now I will connect my tablets to it.. Thank you for this nice video. [LIKED]
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I do have an issue where the connected touch screen can not use touch controls. When you touch, it shows the green spacedesk bar on the top with the settings (fullscreen, disconnect etc) Any tips perhaps?
Uninstall both the Server and Client, clear cache if needed and remove anything to do with SpaceDesk. Restart both Servers and Clients devices (Computer/Tablet). Then reinstall and try again. Please let me know if that helps. Thanks.
Great video. A dumb question, but how would you twist for example the radio frequencies on a touch screen? Is it pretty straightforward or kind of finicky like using the mouse to twist them? Is it basically just swiping to the right on the knob increases the frequency, and swiping to the left decreases the frequency?
Not a dumb question at all. This will depend on the plane. On some if you tap the top of the knob it increases and the bottom decreases. It's no different than using the mouse and clicking to adjust the frequency, heading, altitude etc. On dual concentric encoders it's the same, click at the top of the outer or inner knob to increase, etc.
@@joshuamarius Thanks so much for the quick reply, that makes sense. Flying mostly Airbus, looks like the tablet approach will work great and is pretty cheap. I'm picking up a few to help with the MCDU, charts, and radio frequencies...but I also see there is a company that makes replica flight control units with actual knobs. So looks like I will use some hybrid of monitors and actual knobs. Thanks for the inspiration!
If the maker of the Aircraft did not give you the options to pop out the instruments (which they usually do), you can use something like this: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/42612-xtextureextractor/ This plugin will look into the graphics files used for the instrument panels and try to create separate Windows with them, which then you can drag and drop into other monitors.
I actually don't recommend this particular setup. It is better if you purchase a single large Touchscreen monitor and load Air Manager on that. The performance will be a lot better and more comfortable. If you do want to proceed with this, load up the SpaceDesk Server on the computer, the Clients on the iPAD and proceed to connect the iPADs to the Server following the instructions.
@@joshuamarius thank you. I need ipads coz I need to use a yoke in it's original place. One single monitor block the original place of yoke. Thanks for help
Check out the Blank Panels made by Flight Velocity. They are affordable, solid, and the material can easily be modified or cut: flightvelocity.com/collections/blank-flight-simulator-panels
Awesome josh thanx for the video...how did you bring up the radio stack on the Android, it looked like you just dragged it on...from the main screen I'm guessing ???
You're welcome! Once you complete the SpaceDesk setup, your Tablet/Phone device gets added as an additional screen in Windows (Display Settings). You can then drag/drop anything into that screen as you would another monitor.
Thank you. Very helpful. Can you, or anyone, tell me how to drag one of these added monitors back into the main MSFS view while flying? I am trying to see foreflight mobile within MSFS while flying VR. None of the currently published solutions seem to work. Seems the simplest way would be to drag an external monitor back into MSFS's view.
Yes you can. When you go to the Downloads page you will see a Server and a Client. Install the Server on your main computer where you run the simulator, and the Client on the Surface. Then proceed to connect the Client to the Server through your network.
Brilliant tutorial, I'll look out my various old monitors and tablets now that I'm aware of how to do it. Many thanks from all us simmers, Rothesay, Scotland
I have been building my flight simulator, but have come across an issue with Spacedesk. I only can use one device with touch at a time. The one which is plugged in first works with touch, but the second one Just teleports the cursor around. This might not be a problem to most simmers out there, however it is for me due to how Pop Out Panel Manager has been programmed.
Hi joshuamarius. Good video. I've a question for you: I’m newbie to MS FS 2020. I’m looking to send the instrument’s panel of Cessna 152 on a tablet (undocking) used as a second screen. But I can’t do that. Is this impossible or is there something I’m wrong? Thanks in advance.
They can turn on anything, but Taxi lights are usually Toggle switches as it's easier for the pilot to have a quick visual reference and know if something is one or off.
Yes you can but it has to be a compatible OS. To find out about Navigraph go to the App Store or Play Store and try to install. You will know right then and there.
From their FAQ Section: Can I have multiple iPad's running Air Manager? Yes you can, there's no limit. You can also run the desktop application (if you have it) together with the iPad(s).
For the smaller panels at the top, the Logitech Flight Instrument panels include built-in instruments which you can switch, and you can add more from fipgauges.com On the Tablets, you can use the 2D pop-out instruments from the aircraft, or use a program like AirManager. For X-Plane, you can use a plugin such as XTextureExtractor which extracts many instruments and allows you to move them to a different screen or Tablet.
@@joshuamarius hello and thenks for the video. Can you please tell us how to pop them out? I use left alt and r buttons but it pops only the screens but not the buttons. I want to use tablets or old mobile phones.
Excellent video. I am using the knobster and have one touch screen monitor but I definetly want to add a display for avoinics. 1- What do you recomend as an inexpensive touch screen monitor 7 inches (which will either run a garmin 750 or two regular radios) or 10 inches (which will likely run a stack)? 2- What software runs and operates these displays. i.e. what avionics replicator or software is there for this ? right now if you pull out a GPScom from FS2020 panel it only gives the screen not the bezel. So this is a real issue .... thank you
Thanks for the comments. 1) I have used different brands and sizes purchased on Amazon; they work well but always consider that you can lose a bit of FPS. I've used several Radio stacks and also the 750, 430/530 etc. All worked very well. 2) There are some such as Reality XP and a few others but some have not merged to the new Flight Simulator. Those are still in the works. In the future, any instrument you can pop-out can be tossed in a different monitor or the Tablet.
@@joshuamarius wow. Thanks. I just checked Reality XP and doesnt work with FS 2020 yet but does work with some other simulator programs. What displays do you recommend? I am looking for smaller "dedicated" displays for them.
Your PFD/MFD, CAS, other annunciators, instruments or panels. There are many choices. You can also pair it up with Air Manager and create your own panels or use the ones included for free.
Never could get the touchscreen to work on my Ipad for any instrument in MSFS2020 However, I still use it for Little NavMaps. IDK maybe a configuration issue I overlooked.
My question is.... How do I move the different panels to my tablet as shown in the video (i.e. radios, PFD, MFD, etc?) I see you sliding it into view (Comm panel) but how is that done? I'm planning on using a PC laptop and my Apple iPads... Thank you !!!!
You need to popout the instruments to their own resizable and movable Windows. Once you pop them out you are able to drag them into any monitor that you want. Since the iPads are going to be seen as monitors (Which you can confirm in Display settings), just drag your instruments over to them.
Hi can you please describe on this video what panel model are you using. And the size of those monitors in the panel. The two panels located at the center what size are.
Can i use for example duet display for this to work? Also, how do I get the “screens” on the iPad, like how do you get the small displays in the cockpit to show on the iPad (only the display)?
You can use as many devices as you like but this may affect your FPS, so keep that in mind. Each device will need the client, and just connect it to the same Server. The instruments in the Cockpit must have a 2D version (you can pop them out as a Window) and move them to any other monitor. Most planes have this. In X-Plane there is a plugin (XTextureExtractor) that extracts all the instruments and makes them pop out.
I've set up space desk. But the only thing I can move are displays like the map. I don't see how you are moving the entire avionics panel for the radio and such. Is there a trick?
Popout the window, right click over it and select Undock Window. This will allow you to move to another screen and re-size it. But just remember that it depends on the Aircraft and if those options are available. If you load up one of the default Aircrafts in P3D and popout the instrument, you will have the option to undock. Hope that helps!
Is this for X-Plane 12? You can look into spad.next or if you have X-Plane 11, look in the plugins folder and you will see one for Logitech. Copy this folder into the same Plugins/Resources folder in X-Plane 12 and it should work.
Im having strange issues with SP DESK... any good alternatives ? or best tablets to use ? Mine seems untenable - FIRE tablet works - my other just wont stay connected.
This may be a problem with your Wi-Fi instead of SpaceDesk. I have tested it with very old Android tablets as well as the cheapest Fire Tablets and it has worked very well.
@@joshuamarius Hey thanks for reply ! did you mean to leave a link ? dont see one. crazy thing today the Vankyo tablet connected by itself when I logged in ! that has never happened. Must have had a driver update ?? Yesterday A320nx just would not fly or start up manually, I mean non stop weirdness. Fenix perhaps ? or X-plane I guess.
Which one in particular? Built into a specific Aircraft or Reality XP? As long as the instrument can be popped out, you can move it to any other screen which would include one of the Tablets.
If it shows your PC's Desktop background that means your iPad has been configured properly. Once you see that, go into the Display Settings and see in which direction the iPad is in relation to your main monitor. When you drag the PFD, make sure you drag it towards this direction and then it will show up on the iPad.
Which iPad? Modify the settings within SpaceDesk; you can play with several of the settings. Just remember some airplanes come designed with very high quality instruments / screens that may cause a lag. With a good Wi-Fi signal and adjusted settings you will get very comfortable use.
Which flight simulator are you using? Each flight simulator and also every aircraft has a way of popping out the window (if it's an available option for that aircraft).
This will depend a lot on the Aircraft. Any of the 2D Instruments that you can pop-out and move to the iPAD or Tablet, you will be able to interact with.
@@user-bs9tn9kn7u Unfortunately some Airplane Add-ons are that way. Most will have instruments you can pop-out. Your other option would be Air Manager.
My apologies, I should have been more thorough. You cannot install Air Manager directly on the Kindle, but what you can do is add SpaceDesk to the Kindle and use it as an extra monitor. You can then use this "extra monitor" and put your instruments on it, Air Manager will see it with no problems.
It works the same in all simulators. In Flight Simulator 2020 it's a bit more limited but some of the included planes do allow you to move the instruments to other screens. There's tons of videos on UA-cam on how to do it. Treat the Tablet/Phone you add as another screen that you can drag/drop to.
Review where your iPad or Tablet is configured in relation to your main monitor after adding them in SpaceDesk (look in display settings) Pop out the instrument using the Right ALT key (if the function if available) . When you pop-out the instruments and they are in Window mode, drag them over to the direction in which your other screens are located.
@@joshuamarius It only seems to work with certain panels and not others. I'm not sure how you got the radio and switches onto your other screens like 1:38.
For the spacedesk it keeps me on my normal screen and not X-Plane can you make a video how to to do that and as well show how to get the instruments and put them on the screen?
First, make sure in Window's Display Settings you actually see the SpaceDesk monitor listed next to your regular monitors. Once in X-Plane. Popout the instrument you wish to move to the SpaceDesk configured monitor (there is no setting required for this in X-Plane, just leave as is). Once it's "popped out" look for two small squares on the top right of that Windows, click on it and you will see the Window now has a Title Bar. Click and drag this Windows by the title bar to your SpaceDesk monitor and re-size as you wish. If you want to extract more instruments from the Aircraft, look into the XTextureExtractor plugin. Hope that helps.
Hey so I’m making a Cessna cockpit right now and was wondering because I have an Xbox and Ik the switch panels don’t work there does any of these app work on Xbox ?
Unfortunately I have not found a solution for this. The only thing that comes to mind is a web-based solution and I have not found any yet. Old iPads are able to browse to any web page but it's difficult to get any applications installed on them.
Absolutely! That's one of the biggest advantages of this type of setup. The touchscreen function can be very useful in that it eliminates having to purchase hardware.
I’m using fsx, and fly the aerosoft katana da 20. How do I move the gauges from the main screen and over to my iPad. I was able to get it all connected as you have shown, I just can’t find out how to move the gauges over. Help please
Make sure that you have configured SpaceDesk properly first and that FSX can see the extra monitor. As long as you can pop-out the 2D instruments, you should be able to drag them into any monitor. Since your iPad will be seen as a monitor, just drag it over.
I'm waiting for SpaceDesk to release more info on this, but in the meantime, for Macs and iPads, look at this article: support.apple.com/en-us/HT210380
How do you actually have almost all instruments ? I can do the alt click in flight sim 2020 but only one instrument pop up, cannot use the touchscreen as you. How do you use the touch screen and also how did you show all instruments ??
FS 2020 is still in the early stages and not many instruments in the included aircraft can be popped out and moved to another screen. In the video you are seeing a mixture of add-on aircraft with 2D instruments that are available with the plane, but also Air Manager and purchased avionics such as the Reality XP GTN 750. This is mostly in prepar3d, FSX and X-Plane however. New planes and add-ons are now becoming available for FS 2020.
That's going to depend heavily on the aircraft and also the Simulator. FS2020 has some limitations regarding the instruments you can popout. The aircraft manufacturer (3rd party example) will allow almost every instrument to pop out if not, you can use software such as Air Manager, which has a big library of pre-made instruments for many different aircraft.
I’m finding with Spacedesk I’m unable to interact with the iPad by touch. If I pull my mouse to the iPad "monitor" on the pc if seems to somewhat work but not as well as you show. Any ideas? Thanks!
Did you adjust any of the quality or settings within the SpaceDesk Server and Client? This allows you to modify some of the options you may be looking for.
@@joshuamarius I’m thinking since it’s setup as another monitor, the mouse must be on that display to interact with it. I’m finding I still have to use the mouse to do anything. Same with Duet. Thanks though.
@@user_16309 Once you touch anything on the SpaceDesk client (Example: Tablet or iPAD) the mouse cursor will move automatically there and interact accordingly.
Yes it will. Just add it as an extra monitor and drag the instrument to it. Depending on the monitor you are getting, many will have the Raspberry Pie built in. It should be specified in the description.
When i installed spacedesk yesterday i want able to drag anything onto the added screen and it continued to crash. Then my 3 screen monitor kept glitching that i had to configure the screen everything's i turned x plane on. So i just Uninstalled spacedesk. What was i doing wrong? So i can try again today.
This is very unusual. You may have another problem, such as a plug-in or application interfering with SpaceDesk. Restart your computer and do not open X-Plane. Then attempt to install SpaceDesk and see how that goes. .
The instrument has to be "popped out" or undocked. It must be a feature of the aicraft. For example, in some airplanes in Flight Simulator 2020 you can press the Right Control key and hover over the G1000 screen and you will see a magnifying glass. When you click it will pop out and you can move it to any other screen. In X-Plane there is a button on the top right of an instrument which will allow you to Undock. In FSX and Prepar3d, if you right click on a 2D instrument, you will see the option "Undock View".
@joshuamarius yeah I see that. Unfortunately, some of the buttons around the screens don't come with it. So you still have to look at the screen on your main screen to press buttons 🤦♂️
@@joshuamarius Hey, I was able to turn the iPad into the airspeed indicator and artificial horizon, which won’t need much adjusting with my finger, and I’m using my newer phone as an altimeter, which supports spacedesk, so it all works out!

I think, they just have higher latencies, shouldn’t however be an issue for a PFD.
Hi i have 3 TVs connected to main computer also i have all in one touch screen computer i have downloaded spacedesk on both all good i am trying the pop out method to drag the MFD and PFD but it keeps coming behind the air manager black screen do you know how to fix this problem
Are you trying to put the PFD or MFD in front of the Air Manager window? Or do you have Air Manager on one screen and are trying to move the PFD/MFD to the other screen?
@@salmongalaxy1155 You need to go to the Appstore on the tablet you will be installing it on. So tap the Appstore icon on the Tablet and then look for Spacedesk.
Each Simulator has a button on the Instrument which allows you to put it into "Windowed Mode". You will notice when this happens as a Toolbar will appear at the top of the Window. You can then click and drag this toolbar and move the Window to any other monitor or Tablet you have added with SpaceDesk. In X-Plane you can see a small icon on the top right of the Window when you hover over it with your mouse. In Flight Simulator 2020. It's very similar in Flight Simulator 2020 and in FSX/prepar3d you can right click over the instrument and select Undock view then drag to next monitor.
If you can get Spacedesk installed on the phone you are trying to use, then yes. Also, it works with any application (including simulators) that support a multi-monitor configuration. So it will work with any simulator :)
That's going to depend a lot on the aircraft, the quality of the graphics on the instruments, your settings on SpaceDesk and a few other things. It can be from as low as 3 fps to maybe 15. Since it is completely free I suggest that you try it and see how it works out for you. Also, don't get so hung up on FPS...if you are getting 35-40 and above you are in good shape.
Once you pop-out the instrument, look for an icon on the top right that looks like two small squares overlapping each other. Once you click on those, a title bar will show up and you can now drag the Window anywhere you want. Also look into XTextureExtractor for X-Plane - It allows you to pop-out a lot more instruments in any Aircraft :)
Thank you so so much for the tip, yes I was missing hitting the symbol on the top right, when I drag it to the tablet there is a white horizontal line on top that says Xplane but is no biggie. I will check out Xtexture extractor, I wanted to pop out the lights panel and had no idea how you did it :), thank you again
I downloaded the Spacedesk app and client, installed them both and there is a link between my tablet and computer. I already have a second monitor but my computer recognised the tablet as No. 3, which is fine. However, when I hit 'Connect' on the tablet, all it did was to show my desktop background picture with no icons. Not very helpful and it got worse! When I started P3D, the complete sim appeared on the tablet but my main display resolution reduced to that of the tablet, i.e. from 1920x1080 to 1028x724.
You have to remember that when connecting new hardware to your setup, no matter the Hardware, there will be some minor configuration. Seeing the desktop background with no icons means you have connected your Tablet successfully and it is now ready to be used as an extra monitor; this is exactly what you want. When you go into P3D, make your monitor the main monitor once again. Once you adjust this it will remember the setting. Start using your simulator as normal, then pop-out and drag your instruments/windows to the Tablet.
@@joshuamarius Thanks for your reply. It's all sorted now. My problem now is that of terrible latency and having to double click the buttons on the GTN750, which is all I need the tablet for. My tablet is an Alcatel 3T-8 with a MT8765, Quad-Core (4 x 1.28GHz) processor. Not the best example I appreciate so perhaps a better tablet will do the trick. The router it uses is only 3 feet away and that is ethernet connected to my computer. Would a high spec tablet be better?
A few months back I tried to use my touchscreen-Laptop as an instrument-panel and used spacedesk too, but that was the absolute worst. Resolution was about 144p and the latency so high that it was basically unsusable. Does it run smoothly an tablets and phones? And do you have an alternative for Laptops? Windows has an inbuilt remote-screen function, but that only works if your laptop is connected to the internet via lan-cable and my laptop doesn't have an ethernet-port :/
SpaceDesk has come a long way. You can see in the video that it does run smooth. You can make adjustments regarding the bandwidth and quality on the Client, but make sure you have a good Wi-Fi Signal and connection, 5ghz preferred. I have used it for several instruments and it is a delight not to have to scroll around the Cockpit to see certain information. Just take into consideration that this will affect your graphics, so make sure to have a good card. I have done some tests on a GTX 1060 and these ran just fine in all simulators.
Just gave it another try, and you were right, it has improved a lot. Both resolution and latency are acceptable. Now I just neet to figure out how to export buttons to another screen in DCS.
Hey hello Joshua I will like to know how did you installed those tablets in the cockpit and how you hold them in the back. Can you do a video in how you did
I purchased industrial VELCRO at Home Depot; it works very well and is very cheap. I could have made or purchased a mount but I realized small VELCRO strips around the tablet allowed for a solid mounting, but you can also remove the Tablet easily and take it with you. Hope that helps!
Spacedesk is a godsend. cant believe how seamless it is when its setup. I literally open one app on my tablet and it instantly pairs as a touchscreen monitor
This is the reason you hold onto and recycle your old tablets and phones, even if their batteries are toast. Saved two 11 inch Samsung Note Pro and another pair of 10 inch tablets from the dumpster. No batteries but USB works. Now I got the perfect Star Citizen space flight station
Looks like you have something else going on with your computer. Make sure your video card drivers are up to date. Uninstall both Server and Client and reinstall SpaceDesk, then restart all of your devices (Computer, Tablet/phone) and try establishing the connection again. If it happens again, look at your event logs and try to determine why it is freezing.
The Tablets were 10" low end Batai Tablets purchased on Amazon which are unfortunately no longer available. The Instrument panel I used is available for purchase from Flight Velocity: flightvelocity.com/collections/blank-flight-simulator-panels/products/flight-velocity-mid-profile-cockpit-panel Obviously this was modified a bit to move the Logitech FIPS arranged in a horizontal setup instead of two rows of instruments.

Thanks so much. But how do I get the instruments on the 737 in Xplane 11 to pop out so I can drag it to an external monitor.
If the maker of the Aircraft did not give you the options to pop out the instruments (which they usually do), you can use something like this: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/42612-xtextureextractor/
This plugin will look into the graphics files used for the instrument panels and try to create separate Windows with them, which then you can drag and drop into other monitors.
My graphic card in 4090. I want to use 4ipads as gauges for c172 using air manager. How can I connect all 4 ipads to it?
I actually don't recommend this particular setup. It is better if you purchase a single large Touchscreen monitor and load Air Manager on that. The performance will be a lot better and more comfortable. If you do want to proceed with this, load up the SpaceDesk Server on the computer, the Clients on the iPAD and proceed to connect the iPADs to the Server following the instructions.

You can only pop those out if the Airplane allows it. If it doesn't, look into Air Manager.

Hi joshuamarius.
Good video.
I've a question for you:
I’m newbie to MS FS 2020.
Thanks for the info. Do you know if I could use Navigraph on the tablet?
Yes you can but it has to be a compatible OS. To find out about Navigraph go to the App Store or Play Store and try to install. You will know right then and there.
@@joshuamarius Thanks. I'll give it a try.
Once i buy and DL AirManager, can I install it on another tablet or do I have to buy it again?
From their FAQ Section:
Can I have multiple iPad's running Air Manager?
Yes you can, there's no limit. You can also run the desktop application (if you have it) together with the iPad(s).
How did You set all of those instruments on the screen? What's the system or program to get that?
For the smaller panels at the top, the Logitech Flight Instrument panels include built-in instruments which you can switch, and you can add more from fipgauges.com
On the Tablets, you can use the 2D pop-out instruments from the aircraft, or use a program like AirManager. For X-Plane, you can use a plugin such as XTextureExtractor which extracts many instruments and allows you to move them to a different screen or Tablet.

I am looking for smaller "dedicated" displays for them.
what could i use my iPad-mini for on the flight sim with this desk software?
Your PFD/MFD, CAS, other annunciators, instruments or panels. There are many choices. You can also pair it up with Air Manager and create your own panels or use the ones included for free.
Never could get the touchscreen to work on my Ipad for any instrument in MSFS2020 However, I still use it for Little NavMaps. IDK maybe a configuration issue I overlooked.
Try again but start from scratch. Once you get it connected, can you at least press the start button on the iPad and see if it works?
My question is.... How do I move the different panels to my tablet as shown in the video (i.e. radios, PFD, MFD, etc?) I see you sliding it into view (Comm panel) but how is that done? I'm planning on using a PC laptop and my Apple iPads... Thank you !!!!
You need to popout the instruments to their own resizable and movable Windows. Once you pop them out you are able to drag them into any monitor that you want. Since the iPads are going to be seen as monitors (Which you can confirm in Display settings), just drag your instruments over to them.
@@joshuamarius Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my inquiry

Can this also be done by an iPad charging cable to a Windows computer for the use of the iPad?
Look into Splashtop Wired XDisplay, I have heard it works for both Android and Apple but I have not tested it myself.
In the Microsoft Flight simulator, you can push Alt+LeftMouseButton and click on the instrumental displays and pop them out.
wow !!! awesome setup....!!!!!!!
Can you press the switches and controls in the space desk tablet? Or it is just works as an extra monitor that you cannot touch the switches?
You can press, drag, move etc. Anything you can do with a Touchscreen :)
I've set up space desk. But the only thing I can move are displays like the map. I don't see how you are moving the entire avionics panel for the radio and such. Is there a trick?
Hi Josh, How do I resize the popout to fit the tablet screen? P3Dv4.5 MJC Q4
Popout the window, right click over it and select Undock Window. This will allow you to move to another screen and re-size it. But just remember that it depends on the Aircraft and if those options are available. If you load up one of the default Aircrafts in P3D and popout the instrument, you will have the option to undock. Hope that helps!

Can this work on MSFS2020?
Yes. The addition of a screen is completely independent of the Simulation software :)
The logic tech panels won’t work for me on xplane and with a XPG pc
Is this for X-Plane 12? You can look into spad.next or if you have X-Plane 11, look in the plugins folder and you will see one for Logitech. Copy this folder into the same Plugins/Resources folder in X-Plane 12 and it should work.

How you drag those control panel from flight sim?. , and what flight simulator is that? X plane or msfs?
It works the same in all simulators. In Flight Simulator 2020 it's a bit more limited but some of the included planes do allow you to move the instruments to other screens. There's tons of videos on UA-cam on how to do it. Treat the Tablet/Phone you add as another screen that you can drag/drop to.
How do you drag instrument panels in FS2020 to these added screens?

Yeah damn, I was trying to figure this one out too.. fingers crossed cause I really don’t want to have to buy the Logitech panels

Each Simulator has a button on the Instrument which allows you to put it into "Windowed Mode". You will notice when this happens as a Toolbar will appear at the top of the Window. In X-Plane you can see a small icon on the top right of the Window when you hover over it with your mouse. In Flight Simulator 2020. If you can get Spacedesk installed on the phone you are trying to use, then yes. Also, it works with any application (including simulators) that support a multi-monitor configuration. So it will work with any simulator :)
How much is the fps drop when you use an iPad as an second monitor
That's going to depend a lot on the aircraft, the quality of the graphics on the instruments, your settings on SpaceDesk and a few other things. It can be from as low as 3 fps to maybe 15. Since it is completely free I suggest that you try it and see how it works out for you. Also, don't get so hung up on FPS...if you are getting 35-40 and above you are in good shape.

@@joshuamarius Can you send me the link please.

Spacedesk is a godsend. cant believe how seamless it is when its setup. I literally open one app on my tablet and it instantly pairs as a touchscreen monitor
It truly does work wonders! Make sure to share and subscribe. I have a lot of new material coming soon.
This is the reason you hold onto and recycle your old tablets and phones, even if their batteries are toast. Saved two 11 inch Samsung Note Pro and another pair of 10 inch tablets from the dumpster. No batteries but USB works. Now I got the perfect Star Citizen space flight station
Absolutely! Enjoy! ✌️✌️
Help, my PC freeze when I conect my tablet or phone vía Spacedeck
Looks like you have something else going on with your computer. Make sure your video card drivers are up to date. Uninstall both Server and Client and reinstall SpaceDesk, then restart all of your devices (Computer, Tablet/phone) and try establishing the connection again. If it happens again, look at your event logs and try to determine why it is freezing.
Excellent. Thanks. Seems easier than I thought.
Glad it helped :)
Thanks
Spacedeck ist free ware?
Yes.
Could you please share the dimensions, both above and below the table, of your instrument panel and the size of your screens?
The Tablets were 10" low end Batai Tablets purchased on Amazon which are unfortunately no longer available. The Instrument panel I used is available for purchase from Flight Velocity: flightvelocity.com/collections/blank-flight-simulator-panels/products/flight-velocity-mid-profile-cockpit-panel
Obviously this was modified a bit to move the Logitech FIPS arranged in a horizontal setup instead of two rows of instruments.
