@@Gjeebs curious if you have a timeline for this? I plan on switching from winter to summer and buying fresh summer tires and would want to wait for your review if it's coming soon. thanks!
Great video. Please keep these up Gjeebs. They’r3 very helpful to us EV owners. I drive a 2019 Audi e-tron. But when my tires need replacement, this is exactly the kind of data I’ll need to make a decision. The subscribe button not only lit up, it jumped out of the phone 😉. Also, I had a similar experience to you at NTB, smh.
I enjoy wathcing your videos. The first time I came across your video, I thought to myself, "this guy is a goof". and then I realized it was your humor. I have since become a large fan of yours. Keep rocking the videos.
This comment is not about the tires since I don't really care about them. I just want to let you know how great your videos are. I discovered you about a week ago and have since spent WAY too much time watching Model Y tidbits. We pick up our first Tesla this Saturday (a Y long range). I know what you do takes a lot of work and I want you to know how much I appreciate it and will continue to watch everything you put out. Yay! Thank you! Thanks for making me laugh too.
Bridgestone made a big mistake, yeah, at first it does not need the foam, but as their tread wears down that minimize sound are negated, the effect is negated as where the foam no matter what the mileage or wear is a constant. Big oversight Bridgestone.
Is this your experience? And do you have a study you could link to prove this? I’m genuinely curious and haven’t heard about this benefit of the foam interior. 😁
When testing/comparing tires might start using a Tire Pyrometer . Record 3 temps across each tire - If middle is warmer - over pressure. If inside or outside of front tires surface is hotter signs of incorrect alignment. Can measure the tire circumference with string. If circumference will effect accurate speed readings and actual range.
Ben, prior to this review of the new Bridgestone EV tires, it sounded like you had concluded that the Hankook ION EV AS were your #1 recommended replacement tires for Model Y LR. Has your opinion changed?
For our AZ weather , what is one tire that you recommend for our heat I drive 11,000 miles a year 80% of them is local driving 20% is freeway driving and I drive it 2023 model while long range 19 inch wheels
They finally made them for the Y Performance, will try these next time, I’m on my 4th set of rear tires and 2nd set of front tires at 65K miles with the stock brand tires
I installed these exact tires on my 2020 MY lr - I also found there were not as efficient as the factory or after market Conti Pro contacts, and while I didn't subjectively find them any quieter I do feel that the improve ride quality and make steering a little crisper. This was my hyway car when I put the tires on, so I really wanted the efficiency gains that were supposed to come from them, I have since added a new model s, so my wife drives this car limited miles in town and I expect these tires will be perfect for that task for may years.
I found a good price on some Goodyear 25545R20 101V Tires at Walmart but they are not ev specific, I drive about 8000 miles per year maybe even less, so I really need EV specific tires? Just got my TMY 2021 two weeks ago and I know tires will need replacement before winter comes to Chicago this year. Thank you for your input.
As long as they meet the load and speed ratings, they should work fine. What they might do is be louder and slightly less efficient. I put some cheap tires on my 3 at 1 point and they functioned just fine, but had those drawbacks.
I would appreciate if you also take the outside temperature differences into serious account. No mention of the outside temp. Let alone the road or tire temperatures. Easy to measure so why not? I did again some summer tire testing last week. Outside temp changed 4-5 Celsius and results changed over 3%. This was when there was even no sunlight to mess the road and tire temperatures.
When you test tires might start using a quality fluid filled tire gauge to ensure actual tire pressures - Might also note when tires at filled with nitrogen or not
I didn’t see that you mentioned anything about the mileage for the Bridgestone Turanza. It has probably one of the highest that they do which is 80,000 miles I just replaced the full set for $600 because of the mileage warranty.
Dang I wish you had tested these tires on the same wheels. I’m debating between the Hankooks and the Sailun tires rn. And I think the Hankooks are overall better than the Sailun, but can’t compare apples to oranges!
@Gjeebs I've read more bad reviews than good ones from buyers about Bridgestone Turanza. For Hankook ion evo I've mostly read good reviews, but they're hard to find right now. Bridgestone turanza available at costco, probably the place to buy tires Apart from these two EV tires, is there anything else you'd recommend?
thanks for the great videos. Would you get the Hankook Evo or Turanza? I have a model X’ and M3P On the Turanza from Costco would cost $107.00 less than Hankook ion evo AS’ for the model X’. I have a set of Hankook on my M3P’ it seems quieter and a little more energy efficient. Let me know your thoughts my man. 😃
Does anyone make a larger 19" tire that will protect the rims? I'm considering switching my LR MY wheels to 18" to protect the rims and gain that slight 3-5% range boost
CrossClimate2 is my choice and still using them 365 days per year. Had them since December 2022 as gone through 2 U.S. Northeast winters as where I live gets an annual average of 126 inches of snowfall. Still have plenty of tread and expect to last another 4 whole years. I don't have to swap between Summer/ All-Season to Winter/Snow tires as CC2's are All-Weather and all year round tires. However, you do lose 2 to 4 MPG on fuel efficiency sometimes worse MPG depending on terrain, how you drive - aka driver bad habits, and maintaining proper PSI - inflation. Expect to get more life as the CC2 should get you between 60,000 to 80,000 miles before replacing. A couple of UA-camr Video folks have claimed 100k miles on CrossClimate2s. They are relatively quiet, except in snow, handle weather conditions well, and good on the road. Comfort depends on wheel size ... I have 235/40R19 [2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6] and on good surfaced roads they are comfortable, get on choppy and terrible roads I tend to feel all the roads imperfections. Overall, CC2 is a great tire. The OE tires were BridgeStone Turanza EL440's which are 1,000 percent dangerous and unsafe tires as I had them shredded. The Best Top 3 Brand Name tire companies are Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, and worth an honorable mention is Good Year. Stay far away from any Asian/Korean/Japan made tires and that include Mexico.
No way in hell would I spend $320+ per tire for these over-hyped tires without any noticeable sound difference with other Tesla Factory Selected Brands. I plan on replacing my 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range (Austin Built) with another set of Continental Procontact 19 inch which have been the most I pressie tires I have ever owned cruising at times to 125 mph on a Los Angeles freeway late at night without any type of vibration and quiet as hell.
“And for that…we thank you!”…..you’re a laugh riot

1:50 westlake $115 cheap noisy tire ...
3:10 Bridgestone quietrack
7:55 results.
10:00 70 vs 80 mph efficiency

I want to install 45s to try to make the ride a little softer.
Tell them to make them for the model Y Performance! we only have like 1 or 2 all season option for the 275/35R21

Need to replace my tires in a couple months on my model 3 lr. Which tires gets the most miles before needing replacing....hopefully not to expensive
If you don't want to spend a ton on tires but still get an EV tire look at Sailun. They are great

Which tire should I go with for best range in 20”? The ION is sold out in my size
on tirerack it looks like more are coming in on the 3rd of may. I would get that

I wonder how much louder, over time, the Bridgestone will be as tread wears.
255/45 is the factory wheel size for the 19" wheels. The 20's are 40 and yes the 19" wheels feel better
Hankooks rock
I go to Costco I feel they do the same thing treat your car no matter what it is right.
