    Tough call on the drip-rail question. A drip-rail does give you a place to rest your fingertips when you stick your elbow out the window while cruising. At really high speeds this affords the outboard arm greater stability. I'd want to try it both ways before deciding.

    I don't know if you can hear it with your sander running, but you have a massive swarm of bees, when your using it. I don't know if it's the lead paint or the sound of the sander that attracts them, the burning flannel probably helps calm them some but bee careful.

    now that we know the history of the truck the yellow make absolute sense to me. It's high visibility yellow so the vehicle can be easily seen on the flighline. The spot you sanded on the roof that shined up proved it for me. I painted gallons of that color on equipment when i was first in the US Air Force.

    Knowing that this 1953 truck most likely served with the RCAF, I wonder if the airplanes that were in service there at that time could maybe somewhat inform the future styling? The Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck would fit the bill nicely because the first serial production planes entered service in 1953.
    Speaking about aesthetics, the CF-100 Mark 1 prototype came from the factory painted gloss black overall with white lightning bolts running down the fuselage and engines (I will not put a link here in order to avoid any potential problems with UA-cam policies, but it is not very difficult to find images of a CF-100 at the National Air Force Museum of Canada in Trenton, Ontario which wears a very attractive looking remake of this prototype livery).
    But there is more, especially with regards to the nicknames that contemporary pilots gave this plane (according to Wikipedia): "Amongst RCAF pilots, the Canuck was affectionately known as the "Clunk", the name has been attributed to the noise produced by the forward landing gear during retraction into its well after takeoff. Another common, less attractive, nickname was the "Lead Sled", a reference to its heavy controls and general lack of maneuverability, a nickname that was shared with a number of other 1950s aircraft."
    After watching today's video I would say that "Lead Sled" might be a totally apropriate nickname for your truck (no offence intended to your project as such of course) . :-)

    Interesting. Yellow makes sense for high visibility, but I was assuming something like maybe a local power company or logging company or something like that. In the USAF, they paint everything blue, and of course, in the army, they painted everything of that era green since it was the Big Green Machine prior to Desert Storm. Painting everything including frames is a very military thing to do. They seem to have endless supplies of paint. I've known of service members who painted their own personal vehicles with the military equivalent of Imron aircraft paint.

    Dont worry about what the keyboard engineers have to say. If they dont understand what and why you are doing things then I doubt if they have ever done this type of work. I live in the rust belt with limited funds so I can relate to your way of saving scrap iron. I find it to be a challenge and enjoy resurrecting "unrestorable" vehicles. I wouldn't know where to start if I began a project with solid floors and doors that would shut correctly. Building a spider web of bracing only locks the twisted mess in a twisted manner. Your way of thinking is correct.... make a datum and build from there, it'll end up squarer than the factory. Keep up the good work!

    Good day Sir, if you wouldn't mind I'd like to make a few suggestions to enhance the viewers listening pleasure. Here are a few piano Concerto's for you to consider;
    Rachmaninov - Piano concerto #2
    Greig - Piano concerto in A minor
    Bartok - Piano concerto #2
    Hope these meet up to you standards.
    Also, as far as planting my fat hiney on truck roofs, It makes for a more stable bipod mount when shooting prarie dogs .... Those buggers are a challenge past 300 yards. The more you know!!
