  • Chinese Fried Doughnuts is a recipe where traditionally the bread that stuffed with cooked glutinous rice are deep fried to crisp. A very popular snack in Malaysia. The doughnut are crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. This recipe are very easy to make, because not much of kneading needed for the dough and takes only few simple ingredients.     Filling ingredients:
    200g glutinous rice, soaked
    2 tbsp sugar
    1/2 tsp salt, adjust to your taste
    1/2 cup water, to add into glutinous rice for steaming
    Dough ingredients:
    300g flour
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp instant yeast
    2 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
    200g-250g water, approximately
    1 tbsp oil

    Filling ingredients:
    200g glutinous rice, soaked
    2 tbsp sugar
    1/2 tsp salt, adjust to your taste
    1/2 cup water, to add into glutinous rice for steaming
    Dough ingredients:
    300g flour
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp instant yeast
    2 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
    200g-250g water, approximately
    1 tbsp oil
    Method:
    1) Mix together glutinous rice, sugar and salt. Add un 1/2 cup water and steam for 30 minutes.
    2) In mixing bowl sieve the flour and baking soda. Then add in instant yeast, sugar and salt.
    3) Mix well combine and gradually add in water. Use spatula to mix the mixture together.
    4) Add in 1 tbsp of oil into the mixture, mix well combined. At this point the mixture will be very sticky. Don’t panic. Cover and rest the dough for 5 minutes. (Note: This step was deleted in the video).
    4) Gradually add 2-3 tbsp of flour into the dough and continue knead another 1 minute. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour.
    6) Transfer the sticky rice onto the cling wrap, roll it into long log about 15 inch long. Set aside
    7) Punch out the air from the dough and knead for 1 minute. Flatten the dough into rectangle about 1 cm thick and 13 x 15 inch long.
    8) Transfer the sticky rice onto the dough. Carefully roll it up, seam side down. Make sure it wrap fully the glutinous rice.
    9) Cut the dough into 12 pieces about 2 cm thickness. Slightly flour the working surface. Dust your hand with the flour.
    10) Flatten it into more to round shape. Sprinkle with white and black sesame seeds. Gently press them onto the dough. Spray some water if necessary.
    11) Cover the dough with kitchen towel for 5 minutes. Heat oil in the wok and fry the dough until golden brown on both sides.
    12) Transfer the doughnuts on to the kitchen towel to remove the excess oil.
    13) Enjoy the the doughnuts warm.
