  • This video shows you how to take apart a PS4 Slim, remove the motherboard, replace a broken HDMI Port, and put the console back together. This procedure does require soldering skills, will void your warranty, and can end up destroying your PS4 if you don't do it correctly!!

    18:37 It looks a bit messy (maybe the tip temperature is too low). But thank you for the video. It's helpful

      I agree, I actually replaced my rework station after this video because it just wasn't functioning well enough. It would say it was up to temp but obviously wasn't.

    i can only order hdmi connectors that have a plastic part to them obscuring the small pins. Where can i get the one you're using in the video? or can the dark plastic be removed

      There is only one style that works with the PS4 Slim (and Pro) and that is the one that I am using. However, the original PS4 used a different style HDMI so make sure you have the correct one.

      I got that one on Amazon but you have to make sure it is the right size for the your soldering iron as there are different ones.

    What about the two wires that go onto nipples under the square box on the board in the corner?

    Iron is too cold in the beginning. Solder the big leg pins first.

    Thanks for the video, I was able to successfully change the HDMI port. The only problem now is that the console no longer recognizes a controller. This was not the case before. I've tried 20 different cables and different controllers and even a new one from Amazon, nothing helps. Funnily enough, I can connect the controller via USB cable when the PS4 is in security mode. Repairing the database etc. didn't solve the problem either, when I try to reinstall the firmware via USB, I get the error message "SU-41283-8". Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

      That is strange, I have not run into that problem before.

      Maybe u forgot to put back some cables while taking the ps4 for hdmi port replacement

      @@rubygem7386 This is a good point. If the bluetooth antenna was damaged or not reconnected this would cause your issue. But, it still should let you connect and play using a cable.

      You can buy replacements. They are PS4 HDMI Filter Coils. Amazon has them.

    Do i need a flux that is separate from the soldering wire

    • @dackselectronicrepair
      @dackselectronicrepair  4 місяці тому

      While you do not "need" flux, it makes it much easier. It is separate and I like the no clean flux that you don't have to remove after using (which I do anyway).
