Thanks for posting. Very helpful!
Thank you so much. The explanation was on point. You made it very easy.
Thank you!
Nice video! You do not need to remove all the black screws on the back. Not unless you want to pull the upper board. . Hdmi port is on the lower board! The long silver screws keep the two halves together
Don't you have to take the board off anyway to undo the wires?
All this to change a hdmi port Jesus
Yeah it is buried in there
Hello, 4:35 on what temperature setting snd level of airflow do you use the hot air gun so that the plastic connectors for the ribons not to melt?
I usually use around 350-400c with lower airflow because the lead free solder melts at a much higher temperature than leaded so make sure to add leaded to each leg to help it melt faster. My advice is go slow up in temp and keep the heat focused and you should be fine!
is this OC bro?
Is it overclocked?
What temperature u used for soldering little wire red and. Black i burn my bored wire wont stick
Clean the pad and use flux. Also strip the wires back a bit so you are soldering wires not melting plastic.
So the wires on the motherboard came out while was adjusting the joysticks, is there a way to replace them back on? I don’t see the metal wire part at the tips just the red and black wires
You should be able to solder them back to where they go. Good luck!
What type of screw driver do you have to use for this?
It is a T8 Torx security bit that is needed
Thank You.😁👍
Thanks you for watching!
What brand should I use and where can I buy it?
You can get a kit on amazon, I get mine from a wholesale supplier. I have not found a specific brand that works better than others, rule of thumb is don't get the cheapest.
Was this ps5 already open ?
I don't think it was but it could have been. They for sure had it standing up instead of laying down flat though.
Yes, or he didn't show the removal of the warranty tape covering the screw near fan cover.
thank you !!!
Thank you!
If your ps5 can run ps4 games but, not ps5 games then this is the problem , I had the same thing once I did this everything went back to normal, also please keep your ps5 side ways!!!
Yes laying down is better for these than standing up.
That’s what mines doing right now! Does it still work? Did you use Liquid Metal or thermal paste????
So i should have my PS5 laid down horizontally so it doesn't overheat?
There is a lot of arguments about this but I would suggest laying flat with the PS5.
can you use silicone thermal paste or is that stupid??
I would not use thermal paste. It is designed to use the liquid metal and it would make a huge mess if you mixed any of it together.
@@dackselectronicrepair yeah i saw a few other videos about it and concluded it would be a bad idea😅 thanks for the answer though
Did you have to buy the flux separately from the rework station?
Yes I did.
This video was awesome! Thank you so much! The back camera now works!!!! We’re really excited! 👍👍
Awesome job!
Nice work on the hdmi. But i would take care of that dry spot on the metal liquid as it sits right behind the whole assembly. I had one overheating and turn itself off on me.
Good call, if you get even a small area of dryness on the chip it will overheat!
@@dackselectronicrepair I'm a novice. I only know that bc it happened to me a month ago, and i had to redo everything. all the 500 screws haha. I'm about to replace my first hdmi port so tnx for the video.
Bang on a dry spot is a definite no no
And you just saved a 16 year old girls life. Thanks so much man. Yes I did this myself.
Awesome Job! You are the reason why I do these videos!
thank you 🫡
You are welcome!
this is the best tutorial video that i have ever seen for something like this
I am so glad!
Do you have to remove thre whole thumbstick assembly? I just want to replace the potentiometers
Yes you would. They are part of the assembly.
what do i do if i dont have a heat gun
You could use a desoldering wick and a solder sucker to remove all the solder from the legs and pins of the hdmi but it would be a long process.
Hi, just finished my first HMDI socket replacement and all went well following your instructions. I found it was worth tinning the connector tabs before fitting the socket to ease soldering them to the board. Thank you.
Glad you got it done!
Thanks! Useful tuto!
Thanks for watching!
I really need to learn how to solder it can save money and come in handy even if wanna make side money
You should! It is a skill most do not have which makes it profitable.
the most annoying removal sticker....🙄
Yes they are, I can count on one hand how many times I was able to remove them by pulling and I have done a ton of them!
how does this shit get so dusty. these mofos have only been out for 4 years
I know, but really it is just a giant fan tube that vents out of the top! These things just suck everything out of the air!
I think your mistake is that you only did one side with liquid metal, officially it says you should do both sides with liquid metal
I have found that you it is better to just do the motherboard side. It has the foam walls that make sure it doesn't leak onto any other components when resandwiching the cooler back on. Everything stays where it should. I do make sure the cooling pad side does not have an oxidation on it so it transfers the heat properly.
I found this video extreamly handy. I'm going to try my hand with this repair following this video as a guide. Thanks!!!
I hope it works for you!
@@dackselectronicrepair It worked quite well! Im waiting for a new SD card reader for it. I damaged it in the reassembly process. Otherwise everything is back working like new.
This is why i just use pc. Tike to buy another PlayStation since its half the price of the repair. Nice
Pc is great as well!
It would be vastly easier and require a lot less heat if you were to solder-wick most of the existing stuff out after mixing with leaded solder Also, it seems safer and less labor to once the old port is out, to wick all the old solder away. clean, then re-flux the pads, and run over with leaded solder to tin them. Drop the new port on top, legs still empty, and hot-air the port until it snaps into place with the tinned pads This prep and new tinning of fresh leaded solder will minimize the chance that you end up with a bunch of loose connections as you aren't missing half the solder taken away on the old port, too. Lastly, hand-solder the legs now that the pins are connected. Check for loose connections and bridging
Yes you can do all these extra steps if you desire. I have found that adding solder back to the pads is enough to make the new ones stick just fine without using a solder wick. Tinning the legs of the new port is something that can be helpful.
Do I need to change the liquid thermal pads?
Do you mean do you have to remove the old liquid metal? If so, no you do not.
@@dackselectronicrepair nope, thermal pads
@@romamazlov4351 Only if they come off, I have never had to.
@@jeremydack2375 I smeared the new ones, there were traces of oil next to the old ones
Great video, thanks for sharing. At 07:25, what are you spraying the board with, and is this step completely necessary? I'm trying to fix some controllers without spending any money on tools, and my school has just about everything needed except for cleaning solution.
It is isopropyl alcohol. Not necessary with no clean solder but I like to clean it up.
I did this and now my gpu showing black display
Make sure it is seated properly in motherboard and that all the connections are correct
@@dackselectronicrepair yes I did that plenty of time same result
Amazing skills! I accidently removed the left stick ribbon cable connector from the PCB :(. I tried to simply put it back in place but the left stick is not working anymore (there seems to be a lot if pins to align correctly within the connector). Do you happen to know if those ribbon cable connectors are also soldered to the motherboard? I can't believe I removed it so easily. Too bad I live in France, I wish you would repair my controller!
The ribbon cable retainer clip broke off?
Yes 😅 the plastic part pop off, but the internal metal pieces are still soldered to the motherboard i can't find anything about it online
I am not sure where you can source one of those
HI! I bought a broken xbox series s and I would like to try to fix it myself (before practicing on some cards to throw away), could you please recommend an air gun around $150? Something just right to start with. Thank you!
This is the one I have and it works very well (You can spend way more but I haven't found the need to). www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RPMR4Y4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
for a second i thought there was a third hand. I almost shat my pants
That is all I want from my videos, not to help or share knowledge, but to make people almost poop their pants. Almost though, not actually poop, I am not a monster.
Can you link to the Liquid Metal kit you used?
Liquid Metal Thermal Paste, 79... www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLZ41J1B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Many years ago my buddy and I would play some madden football game on PS1. PS would overheat and game would freeze. That's when we would put it in the freezer and go smoke a bowl. Start over, ps be ok rest of the night.😂
Yep this is the PS5 version of freezer and smoke a bowl!
as a 15yr, i followed through all of it, i got to the point to where you mention sotering, and i got a little mad, we/mu parents, and i do not have a sotering kit... im going to leave it apart for maybe a day or two, i don't know if that will mess up the thermal pads though.
(also, I'm doing this all by myself too, they will not help me nor buy anything for me. will I need a sotering kit? if so what's the best cheapest brand?
That is awesome you are attempting to fix your hdmi port. You really need a hot air rework station with a soldering iron and hot air gun. I don't want to discourage you but this is a difficult job to start with.
Ya sorry buddy Sony is a dream killer
So swapping the mother board into a new phone saves all of your settings and content?
Yes that is correct. When you swap all the internals to a new screen and frame assembly all your information is there.
Love the gross grodiness of broken lol
There is something very satisfying about taking a gross broken thing and making it perfect again!
I just fixed one that is a store inventory where I work, I wished it was this easy but the whole hdmi basically is ripped out and 2 solder pads is missing and have to run a very small thin copper wire and it is a pain in the a++ to do. I wished it was this easy when I did it.
Yes it is no fun when the traces get ripped out! Not impossible but very frustrating. I had one that had half of them ripped off. I had to start and walk away for a day on that one!
@@dackselectronicrepair it is the same of what I encountered, I have to just leave it and went back to it the next day...
Is it applicable to the versions with a disc drive? Recently got one for free and immediately knew the HDMI port was bad.
I’ve replaced this screen a hundred times for work but the ear piece speaker keeps failing every time I move it. Any tips?
Make sure the pins are not bent in the wrong direction and that they line up with the copper pads, it is possible you just need to replace that part as well. Good luck!
@@dackselectronicrepair Thanks! I didn’t know they existed on Amazon for $7, gonna grab a few. Cheers dude
Hi, can I send my son’s iPad to you please? It’s the same model, please help, I’ll pay. I live in the Caribbean, I could get it to you if you say
Not sure that would be very cost effective for you but if you want to send me message on my Facebook business page that would be fine. facebook.com/dackselectronicrepair
A32 has one of the weakest screens ive ever seen. Thanks
Yes that is true, luckily the replacement screens are pretty cheap!
Very useful but man I think theres no saving my phone
Sorry to hear that! It does happen though.
Excellent tutorial. Subbed for sure.
Thanks for the sub!
