- How do I stop the habit of binge-watching TV, TikTok, and other media distractions? It can be easy to find ourselves avoiding our problems by binge-watching. It can be hard to disengage from these often time-wasting activities like binge-watching TV or binge-scrolling through social media in attempt to distract ourselves from emotions we’re feeling or thoughts we’re having. Headspace Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher Dora Kamau teaches us how to stop the habit of binge-watching content as an avoidance mechanism and instead, learn to face the feelings we’re experiencing with techniques like acknowledging our emotions and practicing self-compassion.

Yeah me too, I’m really upset about it tho but I can’t get myself to do anything either
This seems like a topic that deserves a whole series. Please expand on this, go thru each point in details with tons of examples will be very helpful. Thank you!

This is such a common thing we all do. Thank you so much for bringing light to it!
I started binge watching when i was going through something traumatic, to distract myself and block out myself from the world, i still do it although i am out of that situation. I feel like now its not just a coping mechanism but its become something more, like a comfort zone
Now I want to try and break the cycle
Never thought that binge watching shows, movies, or social media would be a distraction from one's feelings.
This is what I needed just now ! Thank you 😊💓💕😌🥰
You're welcome! 🧡
RAIN is something that author and teacher Tara Brach teaches about.
This was really helpful! It’s something I’ve been struggling with as well, I hope you can make more videos expanding even more on resources for this topic in the future 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for the info! I appreciate your help!
This was extremely helpful and I love the actionable steps of how to apply it.
I’m so grateful I found this
Hello Dora, I love your work and your episodes are literally my favourites on the podcast, although all of the other teachers are great ! This video resonated incredibly with me since I have been suffering under this behaviour for almost 7 months now. Since I have moved to a new town it feels very hard to make connections, so after work it became a habit to turn on the tv and binge watching till I fall a sleep. I am very aware of the problem (being sad and feeling lonely) and have I tried to fill the evening with other activities, but I keep failing and coming back to this habit loop. Any feedback would be great. Thanks !
A very important reminder! Thank you. :)
You're welcome!
If you're binge watching, you're depressed.

sad to see headspace using cheaper looking animation style. They were always amazing on this...
Binge watching UA-cam is free but limiting the use of it using headspace is $70. Wow
This does nothing.
