Note on the Stock Bolt. It's a guess based on that 13mm Hex size but it's probably an 8mm thread. Do the math and you'll find that 8mm and 5/16 nearly coincide. In addition the standard thread pitch for 8mm also nearly coincides, closely enough that a 8mm thread screw will go in about 3 turns into a 5/16-18 tapped hole. Basically it's a big fat GOTCHA. You obviously need a longer stock bolt for that gun and it won't be one you'll find at a hardware store. However you will be able to find a 8mm Metric screw up to 1 inch long to test the thread on your receiver. Once you have determined the exact thread in that receiver you can then order a proper length stock bolt on the Net. Btw I would recommend going 1/2 inch longer than the current length and if it's Metric convert the new length to the Metric length to the nearest 10mm that is an least 1/2 inch longer that the current bolt. Because crushing that lock washer will only gain you about 1 thread and that still is not enough engagement.
Thanks for the info, I will definitely be changing that bolt on install. Fortunately I have a good Fastenall store close to me that stocks a lot of odd ball stuff. Thanks again!!!
@@tothemaxxoutdoors4771 Was you able to get an appropriate length stock to receiver bolt at fastenall and what size, thread pitch and length was it.I have a 20 guage 301 that i am wondering if it may be too short as well,Thanks, nice video, gun looks good👍
@TTT-du6oj I used a 8mm x 1.25 fully threaded bolt, I believe I had to buy a 8” bolt and cut it to length.
@@tothemaxxoutdoors4771 I appreciate that, that is an area that needs to be a solid fit !!
That’s a great budget friendly project. Your camo looked good. The red dab at the safety is a good touch 👍
Thanks Dave, that red dot is my ocd kicking in😂
Sun morning..drinking coffee and watching TTMO, want to see that gun put in work!
Rondy I’ll do my best to get on some birds with it!!!! Thanks buddy!!
Refinish looks good. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. Turkey season will be here before you know it. Good luck, Maxx and Matt.
Me too Sam, thanks buddy!!! We’ll do all we can with it.
Looking forward to seeing Maxx put one down with that gun. Paint looks good brother.
I sure hope so buddy, I’m happy with the paint job to. Thanks again buddy!!
That looks awesome. Now to get some turkey footage 👍. I’ve been looking at tss for a few years same here the $$ was keeping me away. I heard about viper amo last year. I’ve been talking to one of the guys I’m definitely going to try it this year in my 20 ga.
They’ll treat ya fair, get in contact with me if you have trouble communicating with them via Facebook. Thanks Brian!!! I’ll try my best to get the footage 😂
All said, I’ve heard nothing but great things about the 301! I’m picking one up in 20 gauge as an all around ( hiking ) upland game gun. Depending on the game, I’ll be using either #6-7.5 Bismuth or #9 tss…
For the price of these, I don’t think you will be disappointed!!! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
That looks great. Good luck this season.
Thanks!!! Hope to put it to use shortly 👍
First to watch and comment. Looking forward to seeing what you have done.
You are always first Juddie!!! Early bird gets the worm…
Matt, that looks awesome. Going back to the lock washer not being crushed, you mentioned where it was made, that is the problem with a lot of stuff nowadays. l am sure if it was made in great US of A, it would have been right straight out of the box. You might talk to those friends of yours and do a video of their business and help promote them. I think I have heard of them before. Not sure if that is where Stubby's Outdoors gets their ammo or not. Thanks for sharing. Juddie - J & J TOA
Thanks Juddie, yeah quality isn’t much in the norm anymore with foreign made stuff.
I was looking at getting one of those guns. Now I think I will. That would be a great project to work on I love doing things like that . Great video hope you killed one with it
Thanks for watching and commenting!! Yes I did take a jake with it, the video is up on this channel.
Great informative video.
Thanks buddy!!
That rear base is where they dropped the ball hard it's not a drilled and taped barrel is a block of metal raised off the barrel they put that cheap base on for a clean looking shotgun or one setup for a proper optic you need to cut that metal chunk out spread week sanding it down smooth then rebluing it that's if you don't take the extra time to drill and tap it for a proper mount that is low to the barrel for optimal mounting I find that completely unacceptable second the front sling swivel setup sucks
It’s not designed to be a high end gun, ive had an optic on mine since day one and no issues.
What is the little plate for that came loose in the box?
I believe that’s the choke tube wrench that you are asking about. Hope that answers your question.
Let us know how this finish holds up
I will do a short review at the end of wv’s spring turkey season, late may. I’m sure it’s gonna get beat !!!
