X4: Foundations is unique in its depth, simulating an entire universe of NPC ships and stations, forming a realistic economy. It consists of a huge universe, simulated from the bottom up. Hundreds of stations, and thousands of ships, trade goods among themselves. Prices change based on supply and demand; resources are mined and processed in several stages. This economy is linked directly to the simulation of major conflicts in a universe with dynamically-acting factions. Every player decision can dramatically change the future of the game universe. Everyone knows that keeping steaks in lockbox in vacuum space locks in the taste and freshness.
    It says so in Billy-Bob's Fine Backyard BBQ book.

    A good way to increase your crews pilot/management etc. skills is buying training seminars available in trading stations, open dialogue menu with the crew member you wish to level up and pick train, it's cheap and easy.

    The ship that you missed last time was a Cerberus Vanguard Frigate. Medium sized, comes with upgraded modules. Can dock your small ship on the front of it. If you strip all of it's modules before selling it, all in all it's worth about 1.7 mil credits.

    Nividium is platinum in lore; it's a Teladi word
    Service crew really benefit from having repair drones on ships that can equip them for fast hull self-repair (to a maximum of 90% IIRC)
    The Teladi don't really care v much if you carry illegals around in your inv, but they won't sell/buy the items otherwise: illegals are only available to buy/sell from SCA pirates. The police scans from other factions are more successful the more illegal items you're carrying; that being said, following your own or another miner around & hoovering up all the random drops they cause during 'roid destruction can be quite profitable.. esp once you gain enough spacefly eggs to craft caviar, which /can/ be sold at most stations
    tap 'T' in the map view to make an item a target while you're in the chair, rather than using guidance all the time
    If using the ship's guns to open lockboxes, /don't/ have the box selected (otherwise the guns will automatically target the box itself rather than the locks) & just tap the fire button v quickly once the tiny dot that is the aim pip is lined up with a lock. Once you have the locks destroyed you can immediately 'O' to hoover up all the pesonal items while still in your suit: you don't have to get back into your ship first
    Most lockboxes & destroyed ships drop personal items that can be ingredients for craftables (eg the Kyon xtal, the steak, ship/weap mods etc) that are usually worth a lot more than their individual ingredients; you may also gain personal item quests from some individuals on space stations (eg that unstable xtal quest)

    I pretty much gain all my money from just mining Silicon. I haven't unlocked the tech tree yet since I haven't bought a ship I want to sacrifice for the station yet but with one small Paranid miner returning 31k per trip and one medium Teladi miner bringing home 150k per trip I'm feeling pretty good about my economy for early game.
    Now I just need to upgrade my trader to a medium hauler as well (Paranid with Teladi shields seems like a slightly pirate-resistant option, plus I like the Paranid design) and then work on getting my station up and refining silicon to wafers, the wafers are worth almost four times as much so with the whole chain up and running I'd make millions easily.

    Hey man, just bought X4 because of your videos and I've been having tons of fun with it...although it still has a slightly unfinished feel. Anyway, the empty ship you found when you rescued the Boron, it was the same for me. Doing the Tutorial 13) Capturing ships, showed me how to get it for myself. This gave me a frigate pretty early in the game. Mining has also proven to be very lucrative so far, and less micromanaging for me.
    Also had very good luck with Torpedos, even the light ones just wreck a medium freighter in with my Corvette, just using boom and zoom against anything big enough to hit....they're just insanely slow.

    Ok glad you have found the black market quest as that means I don't have to try and find it on a restart unless they changed it you should be able to get decrypt modules from destroyed xenon as they are basically evil AI. I can't wait to see more.

    If you want hundreds of thousands, look for that sweet sweet nividium. Resource probes are mostly for you to know the concentration, if you give a direct mine order to a ship, it will only allow you to select the resources the asteroid field you clicked on actually HAS.
    You will have to manually order them to sell it, so ... inconvenient with low skill pilots, but it's about 4x the profits compared to silicon.
    So if you're up to fiddling with it - checking when they're full, sending them to sell - it's much more money. If you forget about them, it's probably less :)
    Also check where can you sell it, and how much they will buy in total. When the demand runs out, it's back to silicon for quite a while - but by then... you'll be set.

    • @TobelPlaysSims
      @TobelPlaysSims  4 роки тому +1

      Is it found in normal asteroid belts? Juts very rare?

    • @rauminen4167
      @rauminen4167 4 роки тому +1

      @@TobelPlaysSims Yeah, it's in normal asteroid belts, next to ore and silicon. Not every belt has it and the concentration is usually pretty low - but at the start any concentration is OK until you drop 10-15 resource probes to see where's best to mine it in force.

    Early game money alternative, buy a second cheap ship to fly with you, go to an asteroid field that has lots of NPC miners there, hunt for crystals, while you grind for crystals instruct the second ship to collect drops, they will collect, or you could be more involved and manually give the orders to collect only the spacefly eggs drops, when you get 25 of those, you can craft spacefly caviar that sells for 1 million, meanwhile you are hunting crystals, which also make lots of money, it's grindy but hopefully it will get you started. Spacefly eggs also can be found in lockboxes but that's usually just one or two, hoever always shoot criminals in stations, sometimes they drop 10 or 7 spacefly eggs. Also, when you have spacefly caviar, do not sell it, instead hoard it and keep an eye out for station leaks because the missions that unlock the black market sometimes ask for 1, 2 or 3 spacefly caviar, and they pay far more than what you would have gotten if you sold it normally. Usually you get 2 million for one instead of just 1 million.

    "Nothing really that we can sell that's going to make us a ton of money..." - except maybe those 31 menelaene crystals that were selling for '1.160k per' above their usual '10k per' value with that vendor :)

    Those decryption modules are found in lockboxes and what not. They're used in making security slicers for missions. That's their only use as far as I know.

    • @danielsantos6437
      @danielsantos6437 3 роки тому

      You can use them to hack the terminals in stations (Engeneering room and security room.) Quite profitable, you use one to hack the storage terminal and this cause the station to drop around 20% of all their inventory. The station will ignore the drops, and you can pick it up as long as you have the inventory space. Bare in mind tho, that once you pick a drop up the station will be an enemy and shoot at you, but you can also have used the security slicer to temporarily disable the turrets by hacking the turret terminal in the security room and voila, you can pick up the loot with your frighter and make an hasty retreat out of the sector, and after a while the station will forget your theft crime and be buddies again so don't worry about reputation loss.
      The way I use them is I don't intend to steal the cargo, but when I'm playing the economy game, when I have lots of them I go around for example to a silicon refinery and use like 4 or 5 and the station will drop most of silicon and other inventory it has and now my miners can sell silicon to it again at amazing prices lol. Basically it's industrial sabotage, this game is so fun :)

    Getting three star pilots has become pretty difficult in 3.0 and isn't really possible in the early game anymore. New crew levels seem to be capped at one star, so mass buying of new ships doesn't work.
    The two most reliable ways to get a three star pilot right now is to either get your AI pilots into lots of combat or to use the piloting seminars which you can buy at traders and get as mission rewards. Traders only sell seminars that are usable for zero and one star pilots, so you'll have to get the seminars for two star pilots from missions. Each seminar gives one third of a star.
    Also keep in mind that the morale stat plays into the equation as well - a three star pilot needs three stars in both piloting and morale (or two in piloting and four in morale, etc.). Since service crew seems to be leveling quite a bit faster than pilots I usually wait for one of them to reach morale level three and then make him a pilot and use my seminars on him to get him to three stars in piloting as well.

    • @TobelPlaysSims

      They just patched the game today to make better pilots easier to find apparently, so maybe we'll start to see them again.

      Can't you just buy more skilled crew when buying a new ship? There's a dropdown with 3 options, something like rookie / medium / expert, that defaults to rookie when you order crew - I figured you would just select one of the non-rookie options for more money.

    • @FuzzyFiend
      @FuzzyFiend 4 роки тому +1

      @@rauminen4167 No, the dropdown menu is for the equipment presets of the ship, not the crew level. It's possible that at some point better equipment levels came with higher skilled crews but that's definitely not the case in the current version of the game.

      @@FuzzyFiend No no no. When you buy a captain (mandatory) or further crew for your ship. You can pull on it to set how many crew you buy, but if you click on it, it drops down and you have 3 options for crew experience, the first is always the default.

      @@FuzzyFiend Um, I'm not explaining this properly, am I? I forgot what the options are, but it's something like apprentice, experienced, specialist - if you don't specify, it selects apprentice by default when you set the number of crew.

      There are training seminars you can buy from the Trader's Corner that you can instantly use to level them up to about 2 star, but beyond that I think it's just continuous flying. They did patch I believe today

    • @danielsantos6437
      @danielsantos6437 3 роки тому

      Traders in stations sell *basic management and piloting training seminars,* three of these gets from 0 star to 1 star. They also sell *1-star management and piloting training seminars.* Again, three of these will get from 1 star to 2 starts. They are very cheap so leveling pilots or managers up to 2 stars is a trivial thing. To do so, you right click on the pilot or manager you want to train and choose "coms". You can only use it in pilots or managers, crew doesn't work. You have to promote a crew member to pilot to do it.
      There are also *2-star seminars* that get you from 2 star to 3 star, *3-star seminars* that get you from 3 star to 4 star, and finally the *4-star seminar,* that get you from 4 to 5 stars. However, these are extremely rare and unless I'm mistaken, they can only be obtained as mission rewards.

    Correct me if Iam wrong but you are doing a "slow" paced lets play on purpose arent you? I got the feeling that you have quite some experience with x4. If you wanted to you could just do some crystal mining until you have ~1 million (takes 30 min) and buy 3-4 miners. The fact that you "forgot" about the free corvette from last episode adds to that :D. But I like the slow RP
