      You have too many zoom Lenses on your list, my favorite (3rd? why not 2nd !?)) party Lenses are the Voigtlanthar APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical and the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0 which have outstanding image quality and I love the manual focusing, I get much more sharpness where I want it than with my Sony GM prime Lenses !

    The three lenses that I use the most are all Tamron (obviously): 17-28 f/2.8, 35-150 f/2-2.8, 150-500 VC VXD. It's a brilliant three lens setup. As for lenses I don't carry often, I prefer the image quality consistency of the 28-75 G2 over any 24mm zoom I've ever shot... And I have shot most. If I need a proper 24, I'm going to a proper ultrawide angle zoom or prime for it.

    The 28-200mm from Tamron is a treat. But I’m not surprised, as I’m used to the 18-270mm for APS-C.
    Ok, tbh, I’m a bit surprised, the quality is astonishing, it is way sharper and has almost no chromatic aberration compared to the 18-270mm.

    If you already have a canon EF to Sony adapter I highly recommend saving money and getting the better tamron 17-35 instead of the more expensive 17-28mm that’s native, also those extra few mm out to 35mm make it much more versatile

    I am so happy with Tamron's 17-28mm and 28-200mm, this duo has been great for a long time. I am ready to buy the Tamron 28-75 II for all you have said about it. Stefan, though you specialise in 3rd party, is there any comments on Sony's budget and lightweight primes as the 40mm f/2.5 which I am tempted to purchase? What do you think?

      @StefanMalloch  2 роки тому

      Hey thanks for the comment. That's a great combo indeed. I have not yet got my hands on the little primes long enough for review but they do look promising. For me I would want at least a F1.8 if I'm to supplement a prime with my F2.8's.

    My Sony a7 IV just arrived with two lenses, Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art and Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary.
    From reading reviews and comments and checking pictures people shared they seemed like excellent combination for decent price.
    There is one issue, 100-400mm is not officially compatible with Sony a7 IV as per Sigma website and my real life experience.
    How did you (and anyone else who says they used it) get it to work?

      @@zweiche I sold my 24 samyang 1.8 and sony 85 1.8 to shoot the sigma 24-70 and I don't regret it. I'm going to get myself an 85 1.4 or a 70-180 2.8 though for the long end. The 85 1.4 and sigma 100-400 route is also tempting, but the 70-180 seems like it could do both for me, than I could go for a 24 gm for low light shooting.

    Tamron 28-200 is great lens, but I always missed 24 on wide end. Switching lens made me to replace with 24105G. I'm really great about that change.
    Sigma 100-400 is almost ideal, but AF is not so good :( I got maybe 30% of sharp pictures of my running dog. Still, this is most lightweight from true telephotos lens choice. Good price.

      That is going to be my 2nd lens for my first sony camera. Good alternative for the 16-35 GM? I rented one recently with a A7 mark 4 and omg I love that lens. 16mm is unusable unless you crop in but it’s incredibly sharp. I shoot mostly wide angle, what do you recommend?

    • @proksalevente
      @proksalevente 2 роки тому

      @@mcintosh.motors depends on what your needs are. 16-35 is a landscape/travel/vlogger lens for smaller spaces. Complementing it with an 85mm 1.4 could be a great option. I really like shotting 24mm + 85mm, so it should be good, but the lens swapping is a bit annoying. That's why I bought a sigma 24-70, keep it on all day and shoot most stuff. Still need a prime for night stuffs though.

To walk on one level with beast like canon or nikon, they just give opportunity to alternative lenses company, and here you have, people buy more sonys cause here is nice and cheap lenses like sigma. But with mirrorless on canon or nikon for same quality of lenses client will pay x2 or x3. Great move sony!
