I think A7CR is quite a nice compact hybrid master piece in both photography in videography, the 1.2x crop in 4K60P is not really a big issue to be honest, while the biggest issue of these compact camera are the heat release during long time recording, I just found TILTA have a fan with the ZV-E1 cage, hopefully A7CR will get a nice fan also.
Just goes to show how good the A7iv still is after 2 years. I snagged a brand new A7RV for the same price as the A7CR when it was on sale here in the US a few weeks ago. $3k for the A7RV was a no-brainer. Great comparison!!
@@Kularitz That's correct. Trade in literally any lens or camera and get the $500 (in addition to the value of what you are trading in) My local store sold out of them very quickly at that price. Hopefully they offer a similar offer come the holidays. Keep an eye out for it!
I love your comparison videos with the A7IV NOT because I'm likely to add a camera but because I always learn more about my lovely a7IV. And this video is no exception, so thanks for all the tips, RE, what makes the a7IV such a great choice for you and me. Say, you mentioned 3 of your custom btn choices at 2:50, APS-C Crop, Image Zoom, Focus Mapping. What is your 4th?
Hi how are you? i hope you or someone else can help me with this… im not sure about what camera should i buy for sport photography between A7CR and A7RIV because i think with the 61 Mp i can crop the image a lot even when is only 8fps BUT i dont know if 33 Mp is enough to shoot (Soccer, football, basketball) specially indoors using 1/1000 or more.! PLEASEEE HELP.!
Thank you for the video. I recently sold my A7C and A7IV and planned to buy the A7C II but also own an A7RV. In the end though I think I will buy the A7CR instead since I’m really only a stills shooter. Having two cameras with the same sensor and AI assisted AF will be great even if the A7CR is missing some things. The smaller size makes it a great companion. Keeping my A7RV.
im glad you came with this comparison. by the way, i saw new 3rd party cfexpress type A from lexar, exascend, topspeed and prograde. i was hoping you could do some test compares to sony cfexpress card.
I personally only have prograde and Sony cards. If a company sent me them I’d take a look but personally I won’t buy them because I’ve got so many already
In the A7IV, XAVCS HS has an NTSC 24p 4:2:0 10 Bit option, but not a PAL 25p 4:2:0 10 Bit option. Only a 50p APSC option. So I have to switch to NTSC for when I record long talking head videos and want something flexible in post. One aspect of a camera just being unfinished and moving onto the next model. So I don't think we'll get a firmware update. The C series is too simplified with an EVF that's too small for most pros I reckon. I often see the C series cameras on travellers or B cams. Hoping the A9III and the A7SIV are next.
I have a7iv and as a small travel camera a6700. It has great AF and gives great results with good lenses. At a nice price. The a7CR has too many compromises compared to the a7RV and for similar money. That dissuaded me from buying.
I don’t think anyone should choose this as a main shooter when you have the a7r5 and 4 available. But you mentioned for travel and street as a second compact body it’s hard to beat. Have you had any experience with the Q2 Q3 from Leica, would love to know your thoughts which is better. Ignoring the Leica feel and experience, does the raw image hold up to the Leica for the lower price.
With a Leica Q3 you get the better feeling and better quality for a significantly higher price and no possibility of changing the lens. With an a7CR and a 24 mm 1.4 GM you get a compact system at a cheaper price, no Leica feeling on the street but at least the same, even better image quality and sharpness.
@t87h21 the a7cr makes perfect sense to me to go along my main Canon R5. I had a x100v for 12 months. Great camera but worth the hype, and I feel the leice could be a more expensive version of this. A7cr does seem to tick all the boxes and I do love a camera that can do lot. Just a shame that 1. Cannon hadn't made it so I could use my rf glass🤣 2. They didn't put the mk5 flip screen on it. 3. The evf/lcd could have been better resolution, but seems to be enough of a update not to cause to much concern. My eos r5 will always be my daily shooter as to invested in the glass to change systems, but just to big to do travel and incognito street photos imo. Hence the a7cr hits the spot. 🙂
@@WestWightPhotography i have my a7IV since it was released in 2021. Im shooting with GM Lesens (24 1.4/35 1.4 and 50 1.4) I think the compact design of the a7C series is brilliant, unfortunately in reality the size differences compared to my a7IV are limited. Design appears more compact in everyday life but very similar. I would be a really big fan of the A7CR if they had installed a better viewfinder and the display of the a7R5. In my case in Germany, the price difference to the A7R5 is significantly smaller and most people choose this camera because it offers significantly more. The CanonR5 is a lot bigger than the cameras mentioned, so I can understand that for travel.
I shoot the a7rv and wouldn't get the a7cr for my needs as I like the body and EVF, etc for my portrait work. I'm a bit torn about getting the a7cii vs ZV-E1 for travel, video, street, everyday. If the a7cii had Active Dynamic and 4k60 uncrossed it would be a no-brainer LOL. I still do want the higher mp for travel photography (also, I like the body more of the a7cii). *** Lastly, I do hope that the ability for LUT in-camera support comes to the a7rv (as well as ability to set the aspect markers).
Really depends on what you're recording. If you want to slow down your footage I'll recommend 4K60. If it's a review or comparison video just like this I'd recommend 4K30
Where I find the A7CR interesting, is for someone moving from APSC. One can put their APSC lenses on it in crop mode and one has a camera very similar to an a6700 bit still has the advantage of adding full frame lenses. That's something that's not quite as appealing on an A7CII or A7IV as one would have to drop the resolution to 14MP. And lenses like the 70-350 f4.5-6.3G could be quite nice. As someone who is themselves moving into FF, the limitations of the A7C series are too much and they're too limited. I'd go the extra distance for an A7RV.
this comparition confuses me i better look for a video comparing between A74 and A7C and do't get me wrong this is a great video but i need somthing easier to understand.

A7RV is a clear winner if compared. Great choice

Critical focus. It zooms in when I’m in manual focus so I can get sharps then I hit the button again to return back to main view
this video is very very good. thank you
I don’t mind the 1 memory card slot on A7CR because I normally use Sony Tough SD card. It’s tough and reliable. No worrying about card failure.

You should like getting a lens first
I really wonder if it should have been a comparison of the Sony A7CII and the Sony A7IV !?
Hopefully we get to see one of these too
i've done that
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema So why this comparison !? It should have been A7CR compared to A7RIV/A7RIVA/A7RV !

A6700 is another great option as well 😊
@@lewcehjitl3282 Agree on the A6700. Trying out as well and if the A7CR does not impress may go that way..

A7CR is beast i need that 61mb for my professional wildlife photography.
Which one of these two cameras overheats?
they both do in crazy hot uncomfortable conditions
A7iv only😊
Is it just me or is WB on the a7IV abit warmer? Did you notice it? Wonder what's more accurate? Cheers!
There is a Color difference between the two. Every Sony sensor I’ve tested with the same lenses attached aren’t 100% the same
production quality 😎

Sony A7MV 😂
I love my A7IV all the way. It's the best hybrid camera atm withouth a doubt. I don't understand Sony's idea with cameras like the A7CR at all.
Same. A7iv is still my king
I 2nd this, when the fx3 ii comes out, I'll snag that, and then upgrade A7IV to something higher resolution

You’re right. That crop mode can be a pretty big deal specially for video and lens options
a7cr can't shoot 4k60p with APS-c Lenses, so a7iv is still better if you have aps-c lenses.

If you don‘t need that crazy resolution, pick the A7 IV, it’s a better Camera all around.
Agreed
