Wow. If there's a more detailed review of this car anywhere in the world, I haven't seen it. This might be the most detailed review I've ever watched of anything ever on UA-cam. Thanks so much for the effort. Ordered my XC40 earlier this week before seeing this video, but I know a lot more about it now.
Hi Mike, always appreciate your videos. Just wanted to share something with you. In the glovebox, there's a little AC tab, when you pull that, it directs cool air into the glovebox compartment, basically turning it to a little chiller box or fridge on your longer trips, you can keep your snacks and chocolates cool. There's a slot for the manual over the main glovebox compartment, you would get a lot better space in there if you utilize it. Have a good one!

The foam engine cover is for pedestrian protection. Volvo designed it to help a pedestrian if they are thrown onto the hood.

I have ordered a Volvo XC40 B4 Inscription (UK)
I have recently had confirmation from my Volvo Dealer, that our car has been victim to some Volvo Value Engineering.
Volvo was keen to upsell the additions, but we now have confirmation that our B4 will not have twin rear exhaust pipes outlets, no Inscription embossed headrests or embossed Inscription panels behind the rear doors. And the real deal breaker is that the car is only going be supplied with one full function key and a red limited function key. I am waiting for dealer confirmation on the red key limitations, as my Wife is not happy that she is going to be driving with a key with limited functionality... VOLVO do not assume ( ASS U ME ) i will have a young person driving my new car.....

Hi, does anyone know if you HAVE to have the sunroof??? I really want the inscription model but I absolutely hate the sunroof. I’ve had my xc90 since I picked it up in Sweden in 2004, but I can count on 1 hand how many times I’ve used the sunroof. I really don’t see the necessity of it. I like my car dark.
I bought this model, though a different colour - metallic gold. It really is a super car, can’t fault it, though I have to admit it is very expensive, but I intend to keep it for a long time, so I can live with that. It is pretty economical on a long run, but for local short shopping trips it isn’t that great. I had a couple of xc 60’s previously, this car feels just as roomy inside, though it’s considerably smaller, though quite big enough for me.
One thing that did irritate me though, was the folding mat in the rear intended to assist with packing loose items , is not included in the UK version, and it’s pretty expensive, so I never bothered.
The tail gate can be operated by putting a foot underneath the rear bumper. It does work sometimes, but only when it feels like it, as a result I don’t use it.
A great little car, I would definitely recommend it

I’m not sure what size wheels I have. It is the inscription model, and these were the standard wheels. Still love the car, though Volvo keep contacting me to replace it, but to change to an all electric version at the spec that I now have would cost - a lot. Due to the pandemic etc I haven’t done a great number of miles, so changing simply doesn’t make sense.

I can’t choose between r design or inscription. Prefer the seats and grey wood in the inscription, but prefer the black trim and grill on the r design.
Kevin Keelan for us it was about the inside trim and different grille, wheels, side skirting and especially the black roof line. We have the crystal white and the black stands out tremendously. Had it a few weeks and love it.
Andy I prefer the look of the rdesign, but the leather would be better for my dog. I’ve heard the base model isn’t the best ride and I’m worried inscription might have the same suspension set up. If so I’ll buy a new dyson and get the rdesign.

I've been told mid-October for a B4P Insc Pro Denim Blue + Blonde. Hopefully will be earlier than that though. Making my current car seem very dated in comparison despite not being very old.
tyronelab I fully expect the Sept date on mine to slip into October but live in hope. I love the denim plus the blonde leather. Great choice. I so nearly chose that combo. The thing that swayed it for me was the glacier rarely looks silver! Sometimes white, sometimes light grey, blue grey. It’s almost like some kind of pearlescent.
I think the same about my current car as well. A 2017 X1 but compared to the XC40, it seems a lot older. 😁

A lot of great info on the owners forum website. Did you know ours will have some visual changes? All detailed as the MY21 car on the forum. I’m not happy that the exhausts are now hidden, at least they are in the UK. And no embossing on leather and sill kick plate.

For the same price as the 2019 version you get 1 less feature. Volvo has removed the electric folding rear seats and replaced it with manual folding rear seats.

How reliable are these new Volvo’s, interior is nice but that center stack is one glitch away from making the car useless like no heat or ac since everything is controlled by that iPad like screen.

I am not a fan of the weird placement of the side view mirrors. I mean integrated into the a pillar is just more eye pleasing but that is just my opinion. And I definitely prefer manual buttons rather than the full screen thing.

My only concern about buying/leasing this is feel regretful that I bought a fancy Ford ecosport, Honda hrv, Toyota chr, size car. That's my biggest BIGGEST apprehension for this.... I don't want to buy my first NICE car and feel like I spent luxury money on an economy style vehicle. Just looking at the inside I feel like it's different in ways than Volvos other vehicles

it’s pretty competitive in price to other rivals in the compact luxury suv segment. The Inscription trim here is the top model. The Momentum (base model) starts around 36k. I have a Momentum with options and it was around 42k. It’s a very good car.

I want to see more on the 2020 full electric version! There isn't a lot different from 2019 vehicles making videos on next year's models somewhat pointless. Talk about what's new for 2020, like the phev and full ev versions.

the "flat black" is cheap plastic. Why do they use that? It fades over time.
I know right it looks terrible when it does. So cheap looking too. You could make it last by using armor all but I wish they’d stop doing that.
Volvo did a fine job with the XC40, but the loaded $53K asking price is ridiculous.
I don't get those large, fake, exhaust frames around the small, round, exhaust pipes. So many car makers are doing this today. Why can't they make the ends of the pipes open up to the larger, rectangular shape (to make them look less absurd) if that's what they want the look to be? Embedding small, round pipes in a much larger "rectangular" casing just looks so absurd. (And why draw attention to the air-polluting aspect of the cars anyway -- instead of the older, customary way of having the exhaust pipes curved away toward the side and much less visible -- especially in this era moving rapidly towards EVs??? It might make some sense for a Ferrari or a Corvette to show those quad pipes, with their V8 or V12 engines, but a 4-cylinder, 2-liter Volvo?! C'mon!)
