    I've been using T-blades every week for the last 8 years playing rec ice hockey and I can completely recommend them. A lot of what's said about them isn't true; basically the advantage is you get a perfect grind every time, the steel is probably twice as hard (think razor blade Vs kitchen knife), and you can order a few in so you don't have to worry about skate shops being open. You do need to check the screws though and get some spare screws in for when they start.breaking after about 2 years.

    had tblades back in the day on a pair of grafs. they were pretty good, never had one loosen up. and the blade holds an edge alot longer... yea the blades are more money than a sharpening and not every one sells them. but with the internet you find a good dealer and buy a few sets and always have a extra set ready togo. also the radius is consistent and you can mess around with different blades

    I don't think I can agree with the some of the disadvantages with your video. One: I personally think that the cost of replacing the blades out weight sharpening. As with T-blades they can last about 20 or so ice times or at least that is what I have come to find out. Two: I personally found my balance improved with T-blades as opposed to the traditional blade. Sucks that they are becoming very hard to find now, an that not many NHLers use them. I have only seen Denis Sidenbourg of the Boston Bruins use them.

    Can you tell me on average how long is a set of tblades expected to last before changing them out. I realise there are many factors involved. Our sons not a hockey player or a freestyler. He tends to just make loops of the rink with the odd hockey stop.

    Hi I am an intermediate skater but plan to start skating more frequently recreationally, not competitive hockey. I have a slightly wider foot, something like 9.5-10e for dress shoes. I want a comfortable skate I can be on and not feel pain in my feet. I have been considering Bauer Supreme one70, bauer flexlite 3.0 or 4.0 and Easton Stealth, can you make some recommendations, whats the best all around skate in this under $200 dollars or around price range?

    Thats my biggest concern. Not just taking a hit, but what about frequent kicks? Rightly or wrongly i have a habit of catching the puck with my skate to kick it forward sometimes, dont want my skate flying off mid match as a result!

    I have had Tblades on my Grafs for years. The holder does not use all those holes to mount. There are so many holes so that you can find the right ones that match the exisiting holes on your skates. You also have to be mindful and tighten the bolts or you will lose them it's true. I always kept the screwdriver in my bag and checked them everyweek.
    The blades are expensive and very hard to find even in Canada. I've since moved onto MLX skates and let the Grafs sit.

  • @PSNCnation
    @PSNCnation 12 років тому

    Yeah I can definetly see the expense being in the UK, They are hard to find anywere really im in the US and can manage to find them for around 14$ a set.

  • @spinedoc4U
    @spinedoc4U 10 років тому

    Wow Chris that was really good. I live in Jakarta, and my son wants them. They "look cool", but the practicality of them,…especially during game play doesn't appear to be too good. When you say the blade lasts longer, how long before they need replacing?
    Hockeymonkey is putting T blades on their Grafs. They also give the traditional hockey blade with the skate. Appears we'd have to order a few more T blade runners because of the inaccessibility . Since many Indonesians have "flat feet", many of the kids want to try the Grafs. (It's been rumored they are a good skate for people with flat feet.) What are your thoughts?

    All those mounting holes on the holder are there so you can get them alligned better on your skate you dont have to fill every single hole cause it would completly ruin the concept of lightweight with 20 screws holding the holder to the skate

    T-Blades have actually been around for longer than 8 years, I switched to them in my Junior season of high school hockey, this was in 2003, so if I am not mistaken, 2013-2003= 10 years.... I finally broke a holder 2 years ago, so that alone is 8 years of use. Curious as to how you are so misinformed...

    wow, sharpening is expensive in the UK
    It's mostly $5 here in Canada so that's around half the price, I hope your sharpener does a good job if you pay him £10
    For the record, T-blades go for around $20 a pair here. So i guess it depends just how long your edge lasts.

    • @dynam1te666
      @dynam1te666 10 років тому

      It depends on where you get them sharpened, The ice rink that i go to costs £5 to sharpen your skates but i dont know anywhere else to get them sharpened

  • @arny1999

    Sorry just to make it clear, in my experience T blades are incredibly durable. The only thing that's not durable are the 6 screws in each skate, that are fine for the first couple of years, but then you start to get the odd one break, presumably from fatigue. It's no big deal to replace them.

  • @jsollien127
    @jsollien127 6 років тому

    It's so many things a skilled sharpener can do with radius, rocker, and hollow. I can't see T-blade being able to offer that many profiles?

      +Walter Babst "who can't skate well". So goalies can't skate well, huh? Go out on the ice, if you can even skate, and try to recreate all the skating movements that goalies do. You probably couldn't even stop a 5 mph "shot" from a 2 year old. Shame on you for calling them scums, and especially for that language.

    T blades are not designed for players, who need to perfectly fit the blades themselves.
    If you will want to change the radius of curvature of the blades or skates to move the center of gravity on the blades - T blades are not for you . Besides their appearance is a gull in my opinion.
