I played hockey for many years in the Europe and the US. I got my first pair of tblades in 2004 I believe and still use them, got them installed at the ice rink in Charlotte NC. Some drilling of the boot was necessary as the holes did not lined up exactly on my Easton skates. They are great and honestly I have a hard time to use normal skates nowdays, the forward leaning angle is so different. Some NHL players used them, Elias for sure, but since NHL use sponsored equipment it was difficult for them to justify the holder change. Also, Tblades runners are lighter and a slapshot will break it. I got mine broken a few times, also after being checked and sliding feet first to the board. Always the blade broke, not the holder. In a few minutes I was back on ice. Also, the screws break after some time of use. It's normal. I used a pair of runners for 6 competitive games or practices, then replaced them. I also used sweet stick to smooth out any nicks. The edges are rather brittle, so if player's blades colide it will damage the edge quite easily but I love the sharpness of these blades. And it is true that there is no way on sneaking on someone with these, players from other teams told me before that they can hear me coming behind them very clearly alerting them. Just my two cents here :)
Thanks, and thank you for watching.
Very well done chris, i think u did an excellent job in this review.
detailed and informative as always. thanks chris
Good review. Only thing I would add is there's more stability with conventional rockers over the t-blade system because even with the L-sized rocker on the t-blade (which I normally use), it can't compare to the length of an Light Speed 2 especially fitted with the LS2 2.1power runner. Most people don't like long rockers anyways so stability is a relative thing.
can you do the tutorial on how to put them on any skate
The t'blade system is the say, the boot is different. These skates are made my t'blade but you can simply put them on any hockey boot you like.
is there a vid on how to install the tblade holder?
I have the t blades t33 and I love them
nice work. but I would have mentioned, that your are less stable in skating straight or fast then using normal blades. Also I can't confirm your thoughts about the stability of the blade, once it got hitten by a puck....I just saw one normal blade broken but about 10-15 t-blades which where totally destroyed by a puck or by the skater itself.
still waiting on the video mate.....keep up the good work .....see you soon
Do T-Blades run in stores or do they only run online
Is it possible to install the tblades onto the Reebok 12k or higher end boots...by just buying some regular well priced 12K's and just taking the blade/runners off and throwing on the t blades
Can you make a vid on how to order because I do not understand the options
i really wanna try skating with t-blades on my ccm crazy lights i feel like its gonna be a one beast skate
Have had these on my Graf Ultra G5's for a few years now. Will never go back to traditional blades. My only concern is I've broken a few screws by taking a shot direct onto the skate. But that's a easy fix.
Whats the difference between the t-blades in this video and "graf" t-blades or "Bauer"-t-blades? are the "normal" t-blades heavier or lighter?
Nice Video! I am a big fan of you. I have a question how many times have I be on the ice to change the blades?
I mean... It will be very expensiv to change those blades everytime. So... I hope i can usw it 10 times
Cookie4ever if you skate everyday for a couple of hours. you have to replace them after about a month. unless if you think they are too dull
from where i can got the t-blade system and how i can know which one fit with my bauer skates size
Dude can you make a video on how to attach the T-Blades to your skates??
would be very helpful !!! Thanks
whats the radius of the runers 8" 10" fot can you pitch the runers like -20mm.
Do you know how the t blade boot fits?
Hi T blades well had a pair for the last 6 month ...there a dam good blade and runner but they di make a lot of noise and allso the blades do flex ....and the blades are hard in the uk to get old ov.....so just bought a pair of bauer apx2 boots
As soon as t'blade give me the ok, I'll record and upload it.
do you know any ways to improve confidence my coach said that if i learn how to hockey stop both ways he will put me on the team and my parents said they would pay since still I play at youth level so have to pay match fee's but i have no confidence because the last time i went skating on my own trying to learn hockey stops i fell badly and took an injury to my right knee that meant i couldn't play sport for 3 weeks and it doesn't seem like a long time but since then i can't learn anything
how hard is it to put these on skates from home?
Thats great, I may have to get some maybe, when I have the money
you can the blades not handsharping,i have all testet.A metallholder with 150er sandpaper,a woodholder who the blade is inside and a grindingmaschine who abrade minimal the blades, but there are nothing sharp. This material from the blade can be not sharping.i have no idea now.The 20 pairs i can do it to the dustbin.Who no what i can do to sharp?
Is a T-Blade Skate good for beginners? I am not a total beginner but i am not the best :D
I think another thing to mention, was to buy a load of runners, when you buy your kit. I've only got 2 friends that use t.blades and they say they take months to receive them
what size t-blade system would fit my size 7.5 bauer one.7s? would it be 272?
I think 288mm
The ice always a wet layer between the air and the ice down to -174 c
the sound they make is an advantage !!! it's sex for my ears haha i love it
i like the way bauer did the replaceable blade better
Bought tblades on ebay today 😎i'm hyped
40 € size 44
Yo, tell me how they are, I’m planning on buying t blades from a German website, but my feet are pretty wide. Let me know how they feel on you
Can you get fbv on the t blades
no, they blade surface is made in the t blade factory and cant be regrinded to the FBV shape.
How much is a blade
I have t blades on my Bauer x5.0s and they do make a noise. But they are so light and I have neber ever had a screw come lose ever!!!!!!!
i have one question! i can run t-blades on bauer vapor x shift pro?
Ms.Someone You can put t-blades onto any hockey skate.
Sorry for being rude but a Bauer lightspeed edge can do the same about switching blade.
This video is from 2013, keep that in mind..
these are a lot better than a regular blade though bauer blades are shit
Apx2 tuuk
I don't understand why these aren't very popular at the highest levels then? I'd happily try these for the longer life blades and stuff but if they're so "customiseable" etc., why do high level players stick with traditional boots and blades more than the t-blades?
Good question. Someone answer this Lol i want to know as well
Having played since 1994 and coached for about 15 years I can say that players tend to get stuck into a routine and will stick with what they know. I skated Tuuk since day one and stated I would never change but you know what I got a really good deal on a set of Grafs 705 and fitted T blades as I will be in the Philippines skating and have no idea what the grind would be like in that there. And I can say I doubt I will go back to Tuuk!! That is a bold statement from me also after all those years. The only downside is the noise but TBH you get use to it, the only other slight downside is the cost involved in sorting out what lengh and depth blade you want but after a week of messing about I now know what I need and have ordered in Bulk. I think if people really gave them ago most people would like them esp if your in a place that charges a fair bit for sharpening (9 quid hear in London) and that lacks the skill to do the job the same each time.
IceHockey Walthamstow Would you recommend an "Alpha" leveled skater such as myself (knowing forward crossovers, beginning to learn stops and backward strokes) to buy them sooner rather than later? I'm getting my first pair of hockey skates next week from the 5th-8th
Knee Oh
TBH I really do not think it matters much at the early stage when you are learning esp if the skates you are looking at have decent steel as standard Tuuk etc, I can only talk how I adjusted to them as I am the only person locally that uses them. They really didn't take anytime to adjust to from what I had used previous, all I found was that there was more edge that allowed me to cut into the ice more and it glided way nicer than the stadard Cobra holder and steel that the boot was supplied with. I still think the Tuuk holder and steel is really good but for me these serve a good purpose in that I can guarantee what my skates will feel like when they need a sharpen or in this case a new runner everytime. If I was recommending a pair of skates I would say to at least look at the Tblade range of skates but unless you have a decent hockey boot already lined up is it really worth spending the coin to get the holder then get it mounted by the shop (easyish to do yourself BTW) onto a lower end boot? Probably not. Tblades wont make you any better of a skater over say a Tuuk LS2 sharpened well only good fundamentals do that but they do offer a few options and characteristics that work really well for me.
Regards
Cheers
furst omg
Shit
"..Going back to the shop after sharpening..."
:)
Exactly!
Recently I bought a new skate and its blade was deep cut as a volcano ....
And check this, in the city I live now is on the coast at the south of Europe here nobody does skate sharpening so I had to invent something ,.....
Finally I found a guy with a paper belt grinder spinning literally in the back of a van :) :) :)
No vices, no diamond shaped stone just strong holding by hand while I am trying to explain the man what is this thing in his hands (he literally never seen a skate) ...
:) :)
Again: summer tourism oriented town on the coast.
So decided to rid off the trench any ways from the blades. Aaaaaaaand I did it! :)
Now I have the shallowest, simplest , stupidest blades in the world I am sure about it! :) :) :)
At least it's perfect for drifting through the whole building from side to side but I had to do something to get my drifting style back and I did it.
Of course I hope for a better sharpening shop to find.... ) in 2OO miles radius) :)
(yes there is ice in a place but they don't sharpen skates ... (!) )
I am glad I could share my rough experience :)
(I am not meant to do against the video and it's topic.)
(Those T blades must be great indeed!) (I gonna by a pair of this system... before I have to skate on barefoot :) :) :) )
:)
Waste of plastic
T-blades are absolutely trash. Ordered brand new runners from Germany the sharpest runners they have. The shipping costs more than the blades themselves and after one skate around the rink it feels dull as hell. Terrible terrible system and horrible for hockey.
What an abomination. Yikes!
T blades suck and they sound horrendous
Nah i think they sound awesome.
