It’s great to see a wheel builder that understands the bridge club rear width spacing. I mean. I was having a hard time figuring it out but the few wheel builders I reached out to have a wheel built were giving me wrong information too. Reaching out to you to have a set built up for me. Thanks!
Watching as a 2020 BC rider turning dirt road tour type. Not this year but the OEM WTB wheels and hubs will need to go. I am going with 36 hole hub and Velocity rims. I am a heavier rider at 200 lbs. Good point on adaptable thru to QR HUBS. Dynamo front and light. This year I am keeping my 1x12 Eagle GX but 104:64 BCD 160mm crank to get shorter crank benefit and future 3x conversion in ‘25. Look forward to changing BB to external bearing Hollowtech ll type.
You're making me want to get a bridge club! One of the things that concerns me about getting one is the stock configuration is If I want better wheels and a nicer drive train than CUES do I get a frame set and build it up or just get the stock bike and mod it? Also if I wanted to buy wheels from you folks do you ship? I have a surly dealer not that far away but you guys do a heck of a job. Love your videos they're really informative.
Usually more expensive to do a frame up build. It's incredible how all the little parts add up. I would buy an new one and modify unless you have a bunch of spare parts lying around.
We used a 271 or 272. But, you’ll want to calculate the proper spoke length unless you are using the exact same hub and rims that we used. I just than the calculation and looks like we were able to use the same length on the front and rear wheels.
@@ottawabikeandtrail thank you! I tried using the spoke calculator, and it recommends between 271~273. The options available in LBS are only 270 and 275. I'm not sure if they have tools for cutting and threading spokes.
I'd like to hear more about your choice of rims and spokes. I am a heavy rider considering a BC with an immediate rear wheel upgrade to 36 spokes, heavier gauge rims and hub. What would you recommend?
I enjoyed the video, but did you guys mention how many spokes in the rear wheel, the type of spoke or the rim's inner width? I am looking to have a 27.5 wheel built up for me and I know I am insistent on 32 to 36 spokes depending on what the rim takes, an inner width of 30mm and the DT Swiss Alpine III spokes. It is details like this that I would like to see you making sure you include.
Yes, that's a good point. I realized we missed that detail after it was posted. We are using a 32-hold rim for this project. The Blunt 35 has a 30.mm inside diameter. In my opinion a 36-hole rim is not really necessary unless you are doing a fully-loaded tour - maybe. But, thanks for the feedback and the reminder to focus on the important details. Thanks for watching!
Curious to know if there would be any issues with the exact setup you have built but on a QR 135mm rear hub instead. Would the BB still provide the correct chain line etc?
Dang, I was confused why I'd never heard of you before... Greetings from Ottawa, Canada!
Yeah, we get that a lot! We do ship to Canada, but we aren't in Canada. Thanks for watching.

Love to help. I’m building up a good selection of hub options.
I have DT Swiss hubs and rims on my Straggler. Love them! Great choice 😊
Following this series closely l. Taking delivery of a xl black bridge club soon gonna copy lots of this lol what a beautiful build!!!

Add: I already have an Original 8 cable stop and brazon adapter for a top pull FD.
Awesome plan for the bike. Thanks for watching.
Very informative and well done video, I could watch more of these. I also love the bike, curious will be going on sale after you are finished?
We may end up selling it. Or we can build a similar custom bike if you want one. We have most of the parts in stock.

I'm looking at getting velocity wheels for my BC...looking at the Clydesdale cliffhanger rims...40/32 spokes and a dynamo hub on front wheel.
We build a lot of Clydesdale Cliffhangers. Great option if you need even more strength. Thanks for watching.
sweet build! I'm also planning to build a new wheel. What's the spoke length did you use?

Shouldn’t be that different. The BB might need to be a slightly narrower to get the best chainline.
Can you recommend a wheelset that's prebuilt for the BC. Non boost under $500. Thanks
The Velocity Standard Mountain wheelset is $504. It’s a QR hub but good quality. We can also get WTB or Shimano wheels for $400-$450, also QR.
Do you guys ship to Japan? Hard to find custom work like this in Southern Japanland.
We can ship to Japan. We can easily ship parts, but bikes and wheels might be a bit expensive.
