I use my iPads for creative work, paperless notes, email follow ups , but also entertainment such as Netflix. I totally agree with you, the way the multitasking is set up on iPad helps you to focus on one task at a time but gives you the advantage to move around with limits. Having the keyboard and the pencil is must.

For anyone thinking an iPad is a complete replacement for a laptop or PC, remember it is still on a mobile operating system which means some programs won't work on your tablet and some features of websites aren't supported for tablets etc. Also a tablet will not magically make your handwriting beautiful :(

For the last four months I’ve made my iPad Pro my only computer. I was amazed at how easy that transition was. The primary app that I lost was my home edition MATLAB and Simulink. But I learned to work around that. I probably won’t live long enough to fully exploit all the iPad’s capability. Beyond UA-cam, my primary iPad usage includes developing engineering illustrations and diagrams as well as taking notes and marking up technical articles. I’ve dumped MS Office in favor of using Apple’s creativity suite: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. No issues so far.

Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. I've watched this video twice over the last few months. I had already tried to make my devices narrow/single purposed. I have similar devices like you: Switch, iPad, iPhone, laptop, etc. Originally, my iPad was a first step in computing and possibly replacing my laptop to certain degree: whether it was work, school or play; however, my iPhone is all of that when I'm not with my iPad or laptop. My laptop was for when I needed a processing speeds or anything else that might enter my mind at the time.
After watching you video the first time, I tried it your way. I had removed all the apps that were games and entertainment from my iPad. --Wow that made a huge difference:
    1) I'm not (as much*) distracted when it's time to work or study. (Turning off notifications helps.)
    2) I had minimize my screen time while maximizing my productivity time,
    a) and, in the process, better allocate my time to relax or play.
I'm in the process of working out a system of usage with my iPhone, so that I can stay even more focused. While my PC is only used when I need to do data analysis and coding.
    I would like to see/know:
    - What do you use to film, edit and process your UA-cam videos?
    - Thank you and I/we want more iPad content. :)
    - If you're still into Chemistry, will you shift your business model or add to it with science videos? (Just curious).

i have a macbook air and ipad mini (no pencil), and I use both for school and entertianment, which works for me. I love that i can use my ipad for things on the side like reading something and then working on my computer, drawing, highlighting things, setting lists for myself. I don't strictly have purposes for each but i like that they both have their abilities- mac can handle more and ipad is touchscreen and much smaller

Yes, I agree with your tablet first workflow. Having owned a iPad Air 2 from when it first came out in 2014, twenty years everything Apple as in computers, laptops, watch, routers, and the like) plus eleven years iPhone only, I purchased a Samsung Note 20; amazing device. The Note 20 experience convinced me moving from iPad to Samsung Tablet. My reason, the Samsung tablet OS, and Note 20 as well, contain DeX (Desktop Experience), considerably better than the iPad OS and iPhone OS. For many years having used and loving Apple Notes, my experience with Samsung notes demonstrates it is for me better and more feature rich than Apple Notes. Device personal choice aside, I completely agree with your tablet first workflow is excellent. All your points about tablet first are spot-on.

This all sounds so familiar (minus the chemistry... I'm not smart in that way). I keep seeing videos on how people tried to switch to the pro instead of using a laptop but that they went crawling back. I'm trying to make that decision now but here's what it comes down to... I only use my laptop for typing at this point. I use my phone or ipad mini for literally everything else... my planner, notes, art, music, website bookmarks, recipes..it's all more easily accessible through my tablet or phone. There are only two things I prefer/need my laptop for but everything else is heading towards a tablet. Thanks for posting this video and validating my decision... lol

I got the iPad Pro as I'm looking to start drawing and writing digital webcomics. For me with the Apple Pencil there's just something fun about the device that helps me alleviate the 'where do I get started' feeling when you're staring at a blank page on a new project. It just feels so natural getting that immediate feedback when the pencil touches the screen that's unlike anything that I've tried with Wacom tablets and other drawing methods. It's nice having everything all together in one sleek and portable device. Apple really knocked it out of the park.

I also used an iPad, a 12.9 inch iPad Pro for most of my computing needs. However I recently replaced the iPad Pro with a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and it really improved my productivity. It has a much better amoled screen, a much larger screen, a better keyboard case and a way friendlier file system than Apple's, plus much more refined multi tasking. However I'm a Windows/Android person so it may just be what I am more comfortable with. Either way you can't beat the weight and battery life and note taking abilities of a tablet and stylus versus most laptops. Nice content!

I use my iPad in 4 different modes: all of which have their own focus mode Home Screen/app setup so I only see the topics at hand:
1- morning routine - this is a daily good morning overview and planning of what I’m going to do for the day. Has my lists, calendars, reminders, etc
2- Photography - this is my big workflow one, designed to speed up editing, rating, and also video creative work. It’s way easier to rate and flag photos from a shoot on the iPad then have a condensed set of photos I want to edit on my computer later
3- training - this is all the fitness and learning stuff. Workouts, workout tracking, and school related things.
4- home - this is a generalized page that just allows me to unwind with things like reading a book or playing a game.

I’ve purchased an iPad 7th gen on Dec 2019 with the Apple Pencil and all I can say is: BEST INVESTMENT. I do all my note takings and study secc in my iPad. When we started online classes because of the pandemic I purchased notebooks to not get distracted on my iPad and what did I end up using: my iPad. The only thing I regret is getting just 32gb. I thought that was enough but considering that I use it a LOT, specially for note taking I’m considering upgrading it to maybe an iPad Air 4 but not yet, my iPad still works really good and the storage gives me a lil more time. But seriously, the BEST.

I recently just got a 2020 11-inch iPad Pro and I already use it more than my laptop. Although it does have its downsides like not having certain apps to transfer assignments into PDFs for my professors to grade and not having a syncing system with a program that I use to write on my laptop, I LOVE my iPad Pro.
It’s thinner and easier to carry than my laptop, and takes up less space in my bag for college. It’s also pretty useful for having apps for me to write down lecture notes and having an easy interface to navigate if I need to get to something quickly.
I also got the iPad Pro for my art because it’s one of the best out there to run Procreate as smoothly as possible, so that’s a plus.
Besides school and art, I like the fact that I can sync up my laptop (a 2019 MacBook Air) and my iPad Pro through iCloud just in case I need to solely use my iPad Pro for the day and have everything (Ike backed up pictures and documents) at a quick notice.
Easily a 9/10 for the downsides but 10/10 if the downsides were to be able to be fixed

Some of this is how I feel about my Surface. After I started going to college/university, I started using a Surface Pro 6 (I'm now on the Pro 8 because I broke my 6 and the 7 has terrible battery life) and because I could actually take notes on my computer instead of real pieces of paper (high school is weird about laptops, phones, and tablets) I felt my organization and grades become far better. This shouldn't come as a surprise as the classes in which I _was_ able to use my Galaxy Note were the classes I excelled in. Since then, so much of my work has been on my Surface: Programming, drawing, 3D modelling after I got a nice touch-based addon for Blender. As for things like multitasking, I need the ability to have numerous apps on one or more screens as I need to have Canvas open for schoolwork and my programming app open simultaneously.
