    I watched your video a couple of months ago and told you I have never had any luck with rooting geranium plants, and I mean NEVER! After watching your experiments and listening to you, I decided to try again, hopeful it would work! Well I have a wonderful story to share, It worked and I probably have about 30 cuttings that are growing and I am "out of my mind happy!" My mother and grandmother use to just snip off cuttings and push them into the ground and they would grow but that never happened to me and I tried until I cried to no avail! I set up experiments like you to test if one soil might work better than another and I used sand, miracle grow and garden soil along with mixing sand and miracle grow garden soil. My findings showed that every single soil has and does work. Keeping them moist, not dry and not overly wet is a must. I did one thing different than what you told us to do, I have aloe vera plants in my yard and I had seen it used when rooting plants so I cut off leaves, sliced them open and dug out the gel. Ready your pots and pre wet the soil, punch the holes for your cuttings and place a piece of aloe vera gel in the bottom of the hole and then insert your cutting. This has worked 100% percent of the time! However, I was working out front and accidentally broke off a couple pieces of the geranium and rather than throw them away, I dug a small hole and stuck them in the planter box, not thinking they would survive, but they did and are putting on flowers and I am having to cut them off!!!! And on those I did not use aloe vera on all of them but all of them grew!
    I feel like I really owe you a world of thanks!! Your video inspired me to try growing cuttings again, something I had really wanted but failed at all the time! I am so surprised at how none of them have failed, but flourished and several put on flowers that I cut off to allow the roots to grow, I do keep an eye on them and watch the moisture daily but other than trying it early in the year and the aloe gel, I did nothing different but it worked like magic! I just had to share this with you and say thank you a million times!

      Thank you so much for sharing your story as well as your results of your own experiment. I am soooo happy that you got so many geraniums to root. Woohoo!! I guess the moral of the story with gardening as well as other things is life is to not give up, right friend? I will have to try the aloe gel method. That sounds very interesting! Thank you again for taking the time to comment and give a detailed update. I truly appreciate it and anyone else reading your comment will truly find it helpful if they are also trying to get geraniums to root from cuttings. Happy gardening, my friend! 💗🌻

    I over wintered 2 good sized geranium plants. I will take a few cuttings and do exactly what you did. Thanks for the information!

    So if i take a cutting now in autumn, can i keep it on a window sill till the weather gets better?

      Hi there! You can definitely do that. That's one of a few ways that you can overwinter your geranium. You can also overwinter your geraniums bare root (ua-cam.com/video/3BbPwntKoIM/v-deo.html). I suggest trying it a few different ways and see which way works best for you. 😊🌺

    Informative video I'm waiting for my over wintered geraniums to get a little bigger

      Thanks Gloria. Good idea. I was going to wait also but I figured now might be a good time for mine as some of them were tall and needed to be cut back a little. I am also thinking of potting up the mother plants as I'm starting to see some roots at the bottom of the pots. They seem to be happy and putting most of their energy into creating their roots first. 😊🌺♥

      @@budgetgardeningvita It's got roots! 😀 It took about 2 months, and it looks like it's begging to be potted up. This might be a suitable method to propagate in bulk for your backyard nursery.

    ☝️What is the point of sterilizing things if the soil is dirty???🤔🤷

    • @budgetgardeningvita
      @budgetgardeningvita  Місяць тому

      Great question! I like sterilizing soil because peat moss often has fungus gnat eggs in it and I want to avoid a fungus gnat infestation. ☺️🦟 I only sterilize soil that is for plants grown indoors under grow lights. 🌸
