Just a note here. Equipment used every day for 8 hours of work, usually have a maintenance truck and technician at site at the end of the shift. If you want those Machi es to work for you every day, you should do the same. Running out of fuel so often should be teaching you a lesson. JMO.
My suggestion to you is , dig a good size hole for the burn material. It will be better for wind resistance and you won't have to scatter but just bury it when done.
This is what my grandparents did they dug three holes as deep as they could with the backhoe and put the dirt beside it. It. Those were the garbage burn holes and each lasted about 5 years. Then they we topped off with dirt and leveled out now the whole area is a croquet, badminton and camping area for family reunions.
no matter how i word this- it does not sound right but take it at it's face value- I love sitting watching you guys work away and your commentary adds to the spark Riley ! Once you are done- you need to open your own company to do this for people with bundles of money and little to none know how- and you of course do the you tube videos of the progress ! :)
Awesome job! You definitely have the right tool for the job. Be carefully when clearing trees with a large excavator, as you have enough power and speed to accidentally throw a log towards the machine. It can take less than a second for a log to flip back at the cab. Stay safe, enjoy the nice machine!
Great video, I have to admit that I never thought I's spend 24 minutes watching a video with Riley knocking down trees but it was worth watching, interesting and most important entertaining . Good job you guys!
This is going to be a fun summer, I do have a tip for removing stumps if they are tough or the roots are deep. Digging a hole in the soil on the left, right and front of the stump will make pulling the stump towards you easier. Thank you for an awesome video again and have fun.
I would really like to see the video's with Courtney operating the Cat excavator, the rock hammer and the Dozer. Her rock throwing skill with the mini excavator was absolutely impressive !
Hey Riley I'm a late bloomer, I just watched your video from when you changed the Dozer U joint. A little hint from an old timer I watched you remove those broken bolts, in the future if needed use the Mig and weld a washer over the broken stud then weld a nut to the washer for turning, it may break , try again, much better than drilling. you really lucked out getting them out. also use the highest flow of compressed air to blow the particles away. Good luck to you on this adventure. Keep on videoing!
We need a segment called "Courtney Reacts" where we watch her initial reaction to the footage that Riley captures without supervision. That would be Comedy Gold!
Wait a second. Riley, your Dad got your Mom straps as a gift and she loves them? This is most revealing. It says a great deal about your Mom, and a very great deal about you!
Not sure if you’ll see this or not but with that hammer only hammer with it for no more then 30 secs at a time, then stop for about 5 seconds. This will help the hammer from over heating, by letting off for a few seconds it allows the hydraulic oil to work its way through the cooler and keeps the hammer from over heating. Make sure you use what ever hammer paste came with the rental or what the manufacturer recommends. I speak from 6 years (and counting) experience running them in a stone quarry for over 10 hours a day. Also that hammer paste can get expensive so make sure the greaser (if it has one) is adjusted correctly. They paste we use cost about $26 a tube for us one tube last about 4 hours.
It's so cute seeing you guys so hype over that excavator. It's small compared to some of the excavators I've operated. But it reminds me of how excited I was the first time I saw and operated my first big excavator.
Just a heads up.... the trim is not going to be 100% to keep mice out. Set sticky traps, if you heard them in the walls, there still there. If you see 1.... theres 200 of them hiding. Build the 5 gallon bucket mouse kit. Ramps on both side they walk up. A bucket lid with a swing trap door. Mouse, walks up to eat walks out of the swing trap lid. And falls into the bucket. Fill the bucket 1/3 with water. Also. Under the bottom, all around the building, spray it with borax. And stuff , stainless steal, pads in each hole, after you dip them in a toxic ? Also inside the garage. Buy 2 or 3 (( sonic mouse rat )) you just plug them in the wall they keep them away. And there safe for dogs.

In New Zealand we use a 20-30 ton digger in preferance to a bulldozer for forestry road builing, as it does the job better. You don't have the forestry "jailbars" on the windscreen so be careful you don't break a tree so it "barbers chair" on you and come throught the windscreen into the cab. Intresting channel, have fun and good luck.
If the dump truck has a Cat engine, the primer moves about a teaspoon of fuel per pump, unless you open the little bleeder valve on the housing. Best thing is to remove the filter, fill it with fuel, re-install, then fire it up

Hi Such a little tip. When you have air in your diesel fuel system, it is good to have, for example, some spray agent for polishing the cockpit, containing a lot of ether in its composition. You spray into the intake manifold and try to start. Winter also helps when starting diesel in the cold. Greetings from distant Poland
If you make a small one dimension drawing of the old road and the new road in juat a different color it will help so mich to illustrate your plan for the new road and the problem with your old one. Doesn't have to be fancy, MS paint works fine 😁 Would be interesting to see how the road looked from above when you first bought the property and how it will lool when you are all done with it 😎
yes yes please a map of some kind to understand the scope of the job. your road always looks so long then you say it's only 500 feet . hard to get a grip on it.
Well if you fix them, you know how they work. The joys of construction. Really enjoying the content, great to see you have help from all over the world
A road through the trees is nice but unless you like having to cut blow downs after every storm. you should "day light" it as wide as you can, it will make it safer in many ways.
A suggestion for next time you run out of fuel, just loosen off one of the injector lines as well as priming the injector pump with the hand primer, start it and as soon as it's running re-tighten the injection line and it'll bleed all the air out of the system.-also a lot quicker
It seems like im mirroring your life up here in Alaska. We bought 40 acres 2 years agoand im putting in a half mile of road to access it. I also have a ex120 n im tackling a 20% grade right now, we rented a hitachi zx350lc-6 to do the same thing. Love the positivity n videos!
Love that you get to play Tonka with the big gear. Please lighten up on the sticks though! Banging them stop to stop is obscenely hard on the gear. Keep in the back of your mind that you're now playing with 1000 hp instead of 45.
Only 275 hp. Even the 349 that I have used is under 500hp. You are right about the amount of force the bigger machines have and the weight they can move. The 78" bucket on that 349 weighed 12k pounds empty, which was a little big for that machine when moving heavy dirt. That hammer would be fun. I have only used the hammer on our 420f2 backhoe but breaking concrete flat work was like raking gravel by hand compared to running a jack hammer. It made me really focus on being precise and careful with my movements and of course I had to watch the angle on the bit to not damage the slabs we were saving.
If you got so much dirt to move how about a cat 30 dump truck maintain and service days before you start you save time in the long run best of luck on your road works
Another phenomenal vid! Please stay safe out there, especially with baby-Ambition… as it won’t be long before he’s wanting to bring his own dump truck and dozer out for a romp in the woods with Dad & Mom! You two are amazing! Blessings! 😊❤
You have got to love having the right tool for the job! Looking forward to massively increased efficiency and production with the road project. Warm hello from Rapid Lightning Creek! 👌
I'm glad to see that everyone else has the same issues we do working on our property. We've got slash piles, stumps, road work and a lot more to keep two old farts busy for years. But we're building our home and property ourselves, so when it's done, it's ours, the way we want it, and hopefully, debt free.
You asked about suggestions for equipment at one point and I am thinking Telehandler ( extendable fork lift) However it appears you may be done on the roof and done with sheetrock in the shop, at lest for now. So, if you do decide to build a separate home, maybe get one before that project. I also don't like highs and this feels so much better then climbing on and off a ladder to me. Just hook up the man basket, which is about the size of the basket on a scissor lift, and set it on the edge of roof and step over or back. if you actually slide down before you get the bracket installed for the safety line, it is a big target to slide into before falling off the roof.
Are you planning on using a forestry mulcher on the "waste" wood? The drum type mulchers allow the mulch to be used for compost or at least return those nutrients to the soil, and would prevent the need to burn the "waste" wood. You might even find somebody locally that needs the mulch, or at least some of the mulch.
mulch is great for insects, the whole world needs more of them if they could drag it all in the wood and leave the proces by it self, it is best for nature
do you have survey / topographical plans? have you done any CAD planning or anything more than just ideation? If so I'd love to see a video on the actual engineering of your plan that got you to actually doing the work.
Same question I have. A year ago, they tore up a lot of wooded real estate to build their dream road that did not work out. Now they will tear up more. As noted by others, it's a UA-cam production and the entire project would not be practical or economically sound otherwise. Meanwhile, we get first-rate entertainment.
Riley, I hope you continue the great relationship you have with your Cat dealer- you have truly worked your passage with the Dozer and the "hell yes" tude when you went looking for daddy longlegs excavator showed it. They really don't just let anybody take huge equipment off their lot. Btw, your experience isn't much different that what happens on real life construction sites! Just way out in the mountains. Your diesel diagnostics are really getting tight, too!
Nice to meet you, I am from Japan with your fun project!Regardless of whether the machine is old or new, check the water, oil, and surroundings of the hose of the machine before starting work.I hope you can find the problem and fix it soon! Please proceed with a fun project with safe work without accidents!May your family be blessed with joy every day!I support you!😊
Im impressed! We have a 336 and 345 the 330 is a smooth operating machine! I can say I'm impressed remember when knocking trees down with a hoe knock em down with the back part of your bucket don't break em up too high. Also use the 8 when you can, if you're a good operator you can do anything with a 330. Good luck keep it going y'all have our support and I'm here to answer any questions. I've been operating for 16 years since I was 6 and have seen n done just about everything. You guys are killing it!
Bringing in the big guns! Anything yall do, yall do it right, love the excellence! I can't wait to see what yall will be building a few years down the road, when the homestead is well established and you have time for passion projects!
I wish you and Cortney had a very reliable, loving Nanny for Oliver when she helps you do dangerous work. Since he is your most precious cargo , I suppose it would be hard for her not to have hands on him at all times, but just a loving suggestion. A lot of work is sure getting done, for sure.
When you operate equipment, particularly heavy equipment, you need to daily check your fluids and do an inspection to catch any potential problems. This is critical now that you have that many machines and novice operators. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Good luck I enjoy your content and I'm rooting for you.
Yellow metal is addictive! My last carreer was in erosion control and we used all kinds of heavy equipment, fun and scary. Such slight hand movements created such big results. Thanks for sharing.
The drive motor hose, have it replaced with the cat 4636 hose, it's a new hose with a higher pressure. Should work better in that application. That's always been a bad spot for those hoses. Have them use the nylon wrapping for it as well. May make it tougher for routing but it will help for the damage it may encounter.
I have enjoyed your series. A Cat 330 is a big piece of equipment! But your used it well and continue to improve your property. Enjoy you postings, thanks!
Transforming a mountain road surrounded by dense bush into a real road, also changing its slope? Without the Cat330 it would have taken years, you would have practically celebrated its completion alongside Ollie's graduation ceremony😁. 🥰
It looks like you have everything lined up for successful taming of the road. I was thinking you now need a mini mill to make lumber from your trees but you addressed that. Wear, tear and regular maintenance is ongoing. I really hope your rental agreement includes maintenance and repair on the big Cat. With the early progress you have made, it looks like this summer will be much more more than the road. You now have a tiny community. Time for an equipment barn Love watching you work and achieve. Keep it safe 🎉
Well you guys did it and rented my dream excavator, a Cat 330 with quick coupler and hyd thumb. I feel your pain when the old equipment breaks down. Seems like i work with my old stuff for a few hrs then work on it a few hrs. The joys of owning "functional junk".
You should have guarding on that machine. If you think that little stump through the Kubota was frightening, you do not want to experience the but end of a large tree coming through the front window of a 330.

Another phenomenal vid! Please stay safe out there, especially with baby-Ambition… as it won’t be long before he’s wanting to bring his own dump truck and dozer out for a romp in the woods with Dad & Mom! You two are amazing! Blessings! 😊❤
THIS is a good plan, man!
Wish I could help more.
Yes Courtney, you two are truly blessed! Amazing!
Great video Riley and Courtney
"My dad got these straps for mom as a present." Genius! I think my wife needs a new jigsaw!😂
And custom bowling ball with your initials on it. 🤣😂✌️
More like your wife needs a excavator lol 🤣🇨🇦

Rewatching…I missed the part about the excavator being wider than the road! 🤣🤣🤣 That’s some serious heavy metal 👍👍
Glad you found the toy to finish the job looking good looking forward to next time.
Please no burn, look for alternatives before resulting to burning.
mulch is great for insects, the whole world needs more of them
if they could drag it all in the wood and leave the proces by it self, it is best for nature
Just burn it. Way faster.
do you have survey / topographical plans? have you done any CAD planning or anything more than just ideation? If so I'd love to see a video on the actual engineering of your plan that got you to actually doing the work.
Same question I have. A year ago, they tore up a lot of wooded real estate to build their dream road that did not work out. Now they will tear up more. As noted by others, it's a UA-cam production and the entire project would not be practical or economically sound otherwise. Meanwhile, we get first-rate entertainment.
This is like: grown up boys with even bigger toys... LOVE IT 🤘🤘
We’re as excited as Riley
Oh man! I wish I was there to help keep the machinery going. All good though. The road will get done soon enough. Stay safe Y’all 👍🏻
I LOVE my Strapinno Ratchet Straps.
Please proceed with a fun project with safe work without accidents!May your family be blessed with joy every day!I support you!😊
When using the breaker don't try to drill with the breaker point. You can break the tip quite easily. Once your material breaks reset and start again
That excavator will get stuff done like you never imagined! Enjoy the time you have it😊
I like your equipment and camera footage!
Wow! Funsville!😊
Man, I hope you've invested in a large off road diesel tank that can be hauled in the back of a pick-up to feed all that thirsty heavy equipment !
The ultimate friend's vacay, hey buddy would you come spend the summer running some heavy equipment, hell yeah, can't wait to see all the footage
Glad the premier is over so I can watch it! Very excited
Transforming a mountain road surrounded by dense bush into a real road, also changing its slope? Without the Cat330 it would have taken years, you would have practically celebrated its completion alongside Ollie's graduation ceremony😁. 🥰
Way too go, Reilly! Great job!
We may need some road help once you guy's finish this one 😅
It looks like you have everything lined up for successful taming of the road.
I was thinking you now need a mini mill to make lumber from your trees but you addressed that.
Wear, tear and regular maintenance is ongoing.
I really hope your rental agreement includes maintenance and repair on the big Cat.
With the early progress you have made, it looks like this summer will be much more more than the road. You now have a tiny community.
Time for an equipment barn
Love watching you work and achieve.
Keep it safe 🎉
Looks like a funny summer!
Well you guys did it and rented my dream excavator, a Cat 330 with quick coupler and hyd thumb. I feel your pain when the old equipment breaks down. Seems like i work with my old stuff for a few hrs then work on it a few hrs. The joys of owning "functional junk".
If there was an award for running out of fuel...i know who would win. Thanks for the content. Cheers from OZ
You should have guarding on that machine. If you think that little stump through the Kubota was frightening, you do not want to experience the but end of a large tree coming through the front window of a 330.
Well the guys are going to have a fun summer. For Pete’s sake KEEP SAFTEY IN MIND AT ALL TIMES. From a Grammy from another mother.❤❤😊
