- HBO Max's new show Palm Royale is meant to be quirky--a gold digger, class clashes, and making fun of stroke patients! As a woman with a speech impairment, I have thoughts. Carol Burnett who plays Kristen Wiig's aunt-in-law, pretends to have a speech impairment for comedic effect.
I find your speech to be so calming, it’s like unintentional ASMR to me!
Such an important topic and definitely would be a great series for you to do! Thank you for another amazing video, Erica! ❤
Hi Erica. I'm Kandiss and I just found your account and I'm now a follower of yours. I just wanted to say hello and that I'm glad I found you. Ive enjoyed what I've seen so far of your videos.
I personally would love to hear your take on ableism in media! As someone with lived experience, your perspective is invaluable! Thank you for uploading despite your fears/internal voices - bravo! Keep going!
I’m not sure if you’ve seen any of the talk on TikTok about Disney parks discontinuing the DAS pass for many people but I’d love to hear your thoughts about it if you’re looking for new video topics!
I would definitely watch your videos about ableism in media! I’ve never heard of this show, but it was very upsetting to see that they’re using speech disorders as a comedic tool.
I think it’s fairly new series so It would make sense if you haven’t heard of it.
SORRY TO HEAR THAT

at the end Norma regains a fluent speech. in the series she is often mistreated or left alone which is a reflection of something that actually happens to old and/or disabled people sadly. The other thing to say is that Norma is found out to be a really cruel person and in the scene you put in the video she is actually talking about killing Maxine so i think that this fact and the fact that the inability of Maxine to understand what Norma is saying is actually protecting Norma are the actual funny thing. On the other side i think that the scene is meant to make you feel really lousy if you laugh at Norma's difficulty to speak.
this happens throughout the show. Norma poisons Maxines drink and a journalist drinks it by mistake. Norma tries to warn the journalist but since no one listens to her, something bad happens.
throughout the whole show the cruelty is the very comedic element because very bad things happen to some characters and there is so much unfairness that to my opinion it is just a constant critic to all bad behaviors and prejudices and it actually points out ableism. i highly recommend you to finish watching the series even if it hurts. I enjoyed your review on Poor things and i fully agree on that. i would like to know what you think about this, kind regards :)
