I love the nostalgia in this video. Backalley is one of those forgotten maps that is great and the dog barking sound is one of the most iconic things, it can be kinda creepy tho.
I fuckin LOVED Backalley. A lot of those old maps are so good. Backalley, Survivor, Torn, etc. I miss them. CS needs to put way more emphasis on community servers and projects.
I'm 24 and I love this map :) I also had my fun turning it into a really bootleg "single player level" when I was younger by putting the source port of the original map into Half-Life: Source and then blocking off certain pathways with storage container props and using HECU grunts and female assassins as enemies, with scientists as "hostages", of course. It was basically a super crude way of taking cs_backalley and trying to do something like CZ Deleted Scenes with it, and honestly it worked way better with backalley's existing mapping than with other CS maps. If CZ DS had actually been released and were popular, I wish Ritual could have given us single player "adaptations" of some of the 1.6 maps like this one, Survivor, Oil Rig, etc. Great video, ESC!
I like backalley because it's so chill and the night setting is such a mood. You just wanna forget about the hostage operation for a moment and have a beer.
Ha haa, same thing. I remember I've used to play a lot on it as a child. Friday evenings after school, free of any possible care in the world, enjoying a cold coke or hot tea and this map, listening to my fav rap band. God, the memories...
I love alleys, probably because there are so few over here in Brazil, and this map is a huge upgrade from Alley1. How about Counter-Strike's Forgotten Classic: Docks?
Backalley and the Source version of Militia are my favorite maps in CS, they are fun and rather balanced for what they were and the design is just cozy. What's interesting is that Barking Dog went to become Rockstar Toronto and developed Bully.
And here I was thinking that I'd have to wait even longer for those Classic Offensive update videos from you after the Nuke Remake and Zeus videos. But it was worth the wait. I keep imagining being able to play "less popular maps" in CO as it could provide a more welcoming and supportive platform for Counter-Strike mappers. Especially in comparison to CS2 and the current day community server culture. Thank you and thanks to Zool and all the other devs for still working hard on this project. We need it now more than ever. ❤
i was playing backalley in a modded version of cs cz back in the day. tbh i didnt even remembered it until i saw your video. so thank you for the nostalgia
I really remember this map from my childhood. I would come home from school just to load in this map and play with bots for hours on end, I feel like this map had a great atmosphere and vibe to it.
Backalley POG!!! I think we need four hostage maps in CS2 though. 1:54 he's the popdog creator? Ok, of course you explained it within 3 second lol, wp. 5:09 WTF??? YES!!!
I remember this map from the good old days. When I was still a student and I went with my friends to play Counter-Strike in a computer club. I feeeeel old 😂👌
When they added this map to Global Offensive years ago I loved playing it. The operation that contained it also had this other map set in Paris call Marques or something. Wish I could play some games on them again.
The Vanguard is very important to me personally as this is the first operation I've participated in after purchasing a game around the end of The Breakout. Backalley along with Marquis was my favorite maps in the entire operation pack.
Liked Backalley alot while playing CS 1.6, CZ and CS Online/Nexon. For 1.6 and CZ its a fun map to mess around in due to the layout of the map, some people I play with in a server still gets confused with the less travelled routes which is funny. For CSO/CSN it's.... Quite popular as zombie map selection, due to several spots that are almost too OP if you can reach them as a human (2:29 is prime example. Carefully jump to the roof of the building from that window, and as long as you have a weapon with good knockback you basically have a free estate for zombie survival until end of round. Just be careful of zombie grenades).
backalley used to be one of my favorite maps. my friends hated it because the gameplay is unbalanced and yadda yadda yadda... but... the map is just a mood and gives me feels and... it's a fun map, okay? xD
Lol! I played this map for the first time only a few months ago, in Condition Zero. I thought it was very cool atmospherically, but the layout super confusing. Also a bit clunky with the ladder shenanigans.
oh man...huge nostalgia hit man - how about other old maps? prodigy...the casino map, storm ... cant remember them all now. back alley was a fun map for sure
It would be interesting if you guys added more weapons to classic offensive. I think rifles with scopes can be more challenging in CO. A lot of pro players have this notion that the AUG and the SG553 are for noobs. It could be interesting if these kinds of weapons where more challenging. Like, you could be "punished" if you have bad movement. But highly rewarded if you have great movement and great spray control. If your counter strafing sucks, then these weapons are not for you, (so not for most people new to cs). Other idea could be giving CT's another rifle. Like in CSGO you could chose between the M4 and the M4S, it could be a good addition if you chose between the AUG and the SAR 21. Which can have a scope similar to the original one of the AUG from CS 1.6. It could be a powerful weapon, but with a hard to control scope and with certain bullet randomeness that makes it hard to use it while moving. More armor penetration in comparison to the AUG, but harder to master in a nutshell... For the T side. You could chose between the famous Galil and the SIG MCX. Or the AS val. I know that some people will complain by saying that CS is not COD and the AS should not be added. But i think giving more options for the T side could be great too. That's my whole opinion.
I now think that a better option than the SIG MCX or the Val could be the TKB-408. Which by pictures can have a magazine of 30 bullets. It could be a more powerful, but with more RNG option in comparison to the Galil. For me is the perfect choice.
too bad for classic offensive I tried to be whitelisted for a week I waited patiently but spammers got in and not me ended put just leaving the discord.
oh boy. does not even know that backalley has been ported to csgo. totally missed that. looks like valve must cut out everything from cs and replace it with micro transactions. pretty bad.
The only reason i dont play cs now as someone who nolifed at one point and loves cs there are no maps or community servers so there are no communities at all. A cs game where 90% of players play 5v5 exclusively on the same 8 maps. Cringe. More qxtive communities and servers on CSS than cs2
I need Classic Offensive in my life
yeah where can i find Classic offensive?
@@ohlosha it's only a closed beta for the forseable future
The night setting gives this map a great mood.
"Have you ever heard about... Backalley?" like someone trying to tempt me into forbidden fruit
@@locomotivefaox To a competitive CS player it's a forbidden fruit xd
faox from pyrocord

1:30 If I learned one thing over all the years in cs: Never put the drink on the desk! :'D
I fuckin LOVED Backalley. A lot of those old maps are so good. Backalley, Survivor, Torn, etc. I miss them. CS needs to put way more emphasis on community servers and projects.
Vegas 😂
Takes me right back. I miss this map!
Surely Pop Dog brand in CS may have been the coolest Easter egg.
I'm 24 and I love this map :) I also had my fun turning it into a really bootleg "single player level" when I was younger by putting the source port of the original map into Half-Life: Source and then blocking off certain pathways with storage container props and using HECU grunts and female assassins as enemies, with scientists as "hostages", of course. great job to both H.Grunt and you for this remake!
@@havoc3-243 Thank youuuu!

How about Counter-Strike's Forgotten Classic: Docks?
I loved backalley, urban, detailed, cozy
Backalley and the Source version of Militia are my favorite maps in CS, they are fun and rather balanced for what they were and the design is just cozy. What's interesting is that Barking Dog went to become Rockstar Toronto and developed Bully.
Backalley was my favourite vibe. It really looked like something out of a noire film.

I do remember this map, it has a nice atmosphere, can't wait to play Classic Offensive.
That console scroll when the map finished loading
I swear I played this map waaaaaay back during an operation. (Now that you've brought it up in the video, FUCK YEAH VANGUARD FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAH)
Also the PopDog Mag-7 skin is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD. I like popdog as a og reference but the gun skin is unusable.
I am 24 yold and i remember when was 6 i used to play with bots on this map explore the streets and listen tp the dog bark
This is just beautiful and nostalgic. Good job man. And we got more CSCO leaks... looking awesome. Can't wait for it.
one of my fav in the 1.6

Classic Offensive will look really good in Source 2!
Backalley has always been and will be my favourite map from CS
I loved back alley on 1.6. Peek angles are so weird though.

The Vanguard is very important to me personally as this is the first operation I've participated in after purchasing a game around the end of The Breakout. Backalley along with Marquis was my favorite maps in the entire operation pack.
I loved this map in 1.6 as a kid because it gave me that vibe of "law enforcement deal with criminals in urban environment" that I was looking for.
6:22 So called "Classic Offensive" when you have to carry the hostage instead of him following you on his feet.
backalley was the highlight of operation vanguard for me
I remember having so much fun playing back Alley in cs 1 at lan parties.
I really like the skybox in cs_backalley is very beautiful
I remember grinding wins on this map to get the gold operation model.
That was fun to watch! Gread work!
Finally new content for this project
Nice Video man, thank you! Regards from Germany

I loved back alley in counter strike condition zero.
I have heard of it and miss it
I love hearing about your war tales gramps. More than full sponsor videos, but you gotta earn money somewhere so it's fine.
1.6 train on GO? that's rad.
CS CO full release when?
nice video,
I remember getting trapped in spawn by my team and I got banned for 7 days when I made it out
Backalley is the best hostage map hands down.

where can you even get classic offensive? its still in development so only through the dev right?
@@smokey1407 yes, it's only available to developers and testers.

i really wish they never change art style of cs and just upgrade the engine and graphics with still the same style like 1.6 to cs:s.
