Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Glad to see you're back with this song, hopefully you'll come back and share the live version at Makuhari Messe 2023 of this beautiful song, or just the official lyrics will be fine if you got trouble finding that. BM fans already know this type of unique acoustic version like Akatsuki Unfinished Version live at Legend 1997 or "The One - Stairway To Living Legend", so we're used to this SuMetal's vocals power to reach and melting our hearts. Also fans at Sabaton's Europe Tour were enjoying the original version of this song at every show and having a magical moment. MomoMetal isn't part of this clip and song, she is later at The One Unfinished Version. The three white figures dressed in white are probably a reference to old BM era when YuiMetal was still part of the group or maybe a reference to the new young BM unit they previously performed along with them and are part of this new metalverse project, we'll probably get more info from this next month at Summer Sonic Festival when this Metalverse project will be opening the festival but if wanna know more about them i suggest you: - Doki Doki Morning live at Makuhari Messe 2023, NLMetal got this clip with watermarked logo safe to react. Next suggestion: - Akatsuki live at Budokan 2014 You're still looking good without the glasses. 🤓 See you next time 🦊🤘🌈
You mentioned the clarity in Su's voice, and that's one of the reasons why I love this performance: For pretty much the first time we can see that the clear enunciation is no coincidence. It's obvious that she is putting real thought and work into the shaping of her mouth and breath control to make it that good. She is a real pro.
Su vocals is what got me absolutely hooked on BabyMetal ( as well as everything else they do😂) Surrgest as a lot of others have done watch the original 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Great reaction. This was already a beautiful song, but I hope you will react to the original lyric video and/or the live performance from January that Jake Muller mentioned. This First take video was released before the official announcement of Momometal becoming the third member, so it was just Su and Moa in this one - plus the 3 backing vocalists dressed in white. There are some theories about them and we can probably have a good guess at who they were, but I think the fact they were dressed in white was the significant point. BABYMETAL have worn white costumes twice before and they were are significant transitional points in their history. - The first time was for the last two encore songs at their Legend Z concert in 2013 ... that was their final concert when they were a sub-unit of the Idol group Sakura Gakuin and was immediately before they separated from SG to become an independent band. -The second time was at Legend 1997 in December 2013 where Yui and Moa wore white for the concert opening. Legend 1997 was all about their transition from Idol group sub-unit to independent band, but even more about Suzuka Nakamoto sacrificing her human life and existence as a JPop Idol to be reborn as Su-metal, a Metal Goddess. So here we are and they are transitioning again with the "new" BABYMETAL about to be announced with Momometal as a new member and once again they have white costumes - but this time it is the backing singers in white and there is every chance they are the members of the new 'Metalverse' group as well ... but I have no knowledge about that worth repeating, I'm just waiting to see what happens next.
SU-METAL's singing style, which does not use exaggerated inflections or vibrato, is extremely difficult to achieve. This one-of-a-kind singing style is her obsession, as she loves to sing more than anyone else. She appears to be a seeker of singing.
She doesn't use vibrato, at least much, in earlier songs. Like this one. But later, Metal Kingdom being an excellent example, she will use vibrato. Metal Kingdom seems to have quite a lot of it.
You mean straight, strong, focused..... so difficult, it's SO DIFFICULT it's the basis of all vocal lessons I've ever had.... so INSANELY difficult they teach it as a BASE to children.... XD
Monochrome is the best song from the new album. The song is about a-bomb blasted in Hiroshima - Suzuka's birthplace. I love Su's voice, i have seen her live and she is absolutely amaizing. But Moa's parts i love so much too. It's beautiful song in both versions - metal and piano.
Definitely, this, and if the show I went to last week is anything to go by, they actually do realize how fucking talented they are finally. Su metal seems to know that she's a prodigy, and Moa/Momo realize that they're impossibly talented too, and you love to see it. My old bandmate that I took kept pontificating out loud how hard it has to be to memorize all of the songs while doing a dance routine, and I was just like "yeah, it's a whole different beast." When they started off on this song, I just nodded and was like "yeah this song is the newest single, and it's special" and took it in.
Hopeful but sad is a really good summary of the mood. At least on one level it's about the dropping of the atomic bomb (Su is from Hiroshima), with lots of imagery just in the words, plus more in the visuals for the music video; however, it is really forward-looking, holding out hope for the future. I think it strikes a masterful balance, and this version always makes me cry in a good way.
If you haven't heard the original version of this song, you should check it out, as its pretty different from this one. The various versions of this song all hit differently; this one is kind of melancholy, while the studio version is more upbeat, and the live concert version is kind of wistful. They're all beautiful in different ways.
Monochrome gives a different impression in the music video, piano version, and live performance. And they are all wonderful. You are a definite すぅ拝者(すぅ=suu, 拝者=haisha). I can't explain it well, but in Japan, this is what we call fans who worship and love SU-METAL. It is a coined word of SU+崇拝者(suuhaisha=admirer). SU lovers all call themselves that. I am a Moastian and a BM proponent. It is a coined word of Moa and Christian. Sorry for the extra information😅 I hope you continue to enjoy BM a lot! From Japan🦊
Great reaction. You should do a comparison of the full version of Monochrome. This First Take recording was done prior to April 1, 2023 when they name Momoko as Momo-Metal so she was not in this recording. There are a few other songs that were Japan only and you should also react to. I believe that they were Syncopation and Kagerou where they have a Kami Band intro and it is the West Band. Also Akatsuki (unfinished ver.) where it's just Su. Bring the tissue. I'm getting to see them LIVE Aug 30th in Houston, TX!!!!!
As others have commented, I would recommend "Babymetal - From Dusk Till Dawn (Budokan 2021 Live) Eng Sub" with Sue's impressive falsetto. Also, please react to "Babymetal | Brand New Day | LIVE Compilation (HQ)" and "Babymetal | Arkadia | LIVE Compilation (HQ)", two great songs that few other distributors have reacted to. I would like you to react to them.
Nice to see you react to this...was waiting for this one and i am glad you like it. I like the original on but the first take gives the song a totally different vibe and meaning. All of BabyMetal are so incredibly talented. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 The girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the BM producer, for your serendipity. Some 13 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are certainly homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls. [FYI : In the electric version of this song at the Yokohama venue on April 2, the audience (including me) sang that ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with Moametal and Momometal, new official 3rd girl, while Su humming the melody in the sea of phone lights. This song is about living through a war, while hoping for a better tomorrow. Not really just hoping, but making it real in the end. The original MV features many hints at the nature of the Monochrome Firework, being an atomic bomb, though the song is not specifically about the Hiroshima or Nagasaki bombings. So yes, it's a sad, yet positive song nonetheless. It's arguably the best one from The Other One album, which IMHO is their best studio album on par with Metal Resistance. 🤘🦊⚡
Su-Metal and Moa-Metal made this song as a Tribute and a "Farewell" to Yui-Metal. The Third Girl in White....Knowing this, "Monochrome" takes on a whole new meaning. They are saying/singing 'Goodbye' to a Sister Megitsune, a Fellow Fox Goddess.
I hope you have discovered the album version by now. While the One Take performance gives me goosebumps, the original launches me into the center of the universe and opens my perception of the cosmos. And it very much goes hard into metal, it pulls back to allow you to catch a breath before finishing strong and optimistic.
Nerver listened that much to babymetal (exept for the song with Bring Me The Horizon) but wow, their first takes are so good, gotta try to have a dive in their discography

Nice reaction. perfect example of one of the rules of Babymetal is expect the unexpected. Or try to expect nothing. They're just going to surprise you anyway. No matter what genres Babymetal is mixing together. Su's incredible talent and skills shows through it all. And to think that Moa was added to Babymetal for many reasons but one of them was her compatible voice with Su. These days it's getting harder and harder to tell when she's singing. It sounds so much like Su is singing. But if you listen carefully, you can tell its Moa. I can't wait for their next album to come out with Momoko's voice added to it. She is currently singing on the tour now. She's an official member of Babymetal now. So far sounds great too.
The song is sad really, and has a strong emotional hit for Su as it is about a girl who survived the Hiroshima bomb as a child and later dies at 14 and Su is from Hiroshima. You can see it in the imagery for the video for the song. If you listen it is like the girl is describing the bright light of the bomb but through a child's eye and with wonder not knowing the fear yet. Su does some double tones as well. Where it is like hearing two different tones at the same time. Don't know the technical term for it. There is a live concert where Moa is given lead for the last part of a song for her birthday, she was fantastic. Its on youtube, the song escapes me atm. I'd guess search babymetal moa's birthday???
The original is a completely different song. I agree with @jakemuller that you should check out the live version at Makuhari Messe 2023. Both are masterpieces (in my humble opinion).
How she can sing both tenderly and then powerfully almost within the same breath is truly amazing. I knew she was insanely talented after seeing the "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" video. But this performance just puts her in another category.
Quick fix for your commentary: You don't want to say "Never fails to disappoint" like you do (not sure if you've changed/fixed it in the last year or so since starting to listen to BABYMETAL, but you've said it a few times in these videos). That means they always disappoint. I think what you mean is they never cease to amaze, or they never disappoint, or they never fail at being amazing. We all get what you mean since you have nothing but praise for the girls, but just a little FYI in case you see this and haven't already fixed it.
Her big sister Himeka were not even near the same level on song and voice when she were in Nogizaka46 (2011-2017) Su-metal had little advantage from "Sakura Gakuin"
I know...those vocals just rush along your flesh. She is a wonderful singer...I don't think I'll eve hear better...........(cheese...unless I hear you [vom]....but seriously....I DO love your reactions....keep 'em coming
Watch a documentary about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and that line "No matter how long the night The morning will arrive" will have a very different meaning for you.

How she can sing both tenderly and then powerfully almost within the same breath is truly amazing. I knew she was insanely talented after seeing the "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" video. But this performance just puts her in another category.
the outfits were worn by babymetal a long time ago. this is a trubute to yui clearly
SU-METALは美しいけどあなたも美しいです
Quick fix for your commentary: You don't want to say "Never fails to disappoint" like you do (not sure if you've changed/fixed it in the last year or so since starting to listen to BABYMETAL, but you've said it a few times in these videos). That means they always disappoint. I think what you mean is they never cease to amaze, or they never disappoint, or they never fail at being amazing. We all get what you mean since you have nothing but praise for the girls, but just a little FYI in case you see this and haven't already fixed it.
Hello Rachel ❤❤❤

❤❤❤ you are so pretty ❤❤❤
essa musica tambem é uma homenagem a yui
Watch the mv of karate. I think this is in relation with Yui's departure.
Great reaction - but you REALLY need to watch the lyric video and a live version - they're ALL very different but wonderful
If you want to hear more from Moa and Momo I suggest you listen to th live performances from Headbanger Moabanger and Momobanger.
😊❤
Her big sister Himeka were not even near the same level on song and voice when she were in Nogizaka46 (2011-2017)
Su-metal had little advantage from "Sakura Gakuin"

Watch a documentary about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and that line "No matter how long the night The morning will arrive" will have a very different meaning for you.
It's really a sad song about Hiroshima nuclear blast. Su is from Hiroshima.
They can't make good gravity in Kanji Worth ??? If not with image ?

It's like anime theme song
