Babymetal been around for 13 years already! Their international big exposure was 2013 - when their MV Gimme Chocolate went viral, then 2014 when they took over the stage of Sonisphere festival, left the crowd who mostly have never seen them before, chanting "We want more!"

Babymetal are still active - they are still young ladies with hopefully plenty of years left to perform.

The reason why Babymetal (the vocalist) don’t do metal scream like what haters say is to protect her pure vocal. Babymetal have many mixed genre from metal, pop, ska, ballad, hiphop, etc. And Su’s vocal can perfectly fit in any song even this calm piano version one. It’s like she can switch her vocal into any styles. Su is pure amazing.

Once again I leave this information
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine.
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The electric version of "Monochrome" is being played in the ongoing BABYMETAL North American tour with DETHKLOK (30 gigs in USA and Canada). The ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part is chanted by the audience at every venue in the sea of phone lights.
In this first take version, the girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are certainly homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls.

Good reaction. Welcome to the crazy universe of BabyMetal.
BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin.
Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.).
One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born.
The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads.
And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them.
And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did).
In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on UA-cam (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting.
But the success of BabyMetal on UA-cam and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example.
How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. .
But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one."
And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well.
They currently have 4 albums on the market:
-Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers is from this album.
-Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West.
-Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems)
And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases)
Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ).
The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole.

Great choice! I have been a BABYMETAL fan for about six years now, and I have listened to them every day since. I have never been in love with a band like that before, and I have always loved Su‘s vocals. Yet when this video was released not long ago, it left me speechless how good they actually are. I have listened to this dozens of times by now, and not a single have I managed to suppress the tears. It hits me so deeply. It’s not just the song, the lyrics or the vocals, it’s the pure sonic sensation of Su‘s voice. It’s just so incredibly beautiful!

Welcome back to the Foxhole and now with the new metalverse era🦊🤘🌐
It seems this is a delay upload because i remember your PPY reaction from a couple of weeks ago but I'm glad to see you're back with this song, hopefully you'll come back and share the live version at Makuhari Messe 2023 of this beautiful song, or just the official lyrics will be fine if you got trouble finding that, NLMetal got a live compilation with the live at PIA Arena MM sound which is also nice but with the Western Kami Band unlike the other one.
BM fans already know this type of unique acoustic version like Akatsuki Unfinished Version live at Legend 1997 or "The One - Stairway To Living Legend", so we're used to this SuMetal's vocals power to reach and melting our hearts, she's 25 but like i said she's been doing this since being a toddler. You probably got this already answered from your viewers but they've been around with this project since 2010 and blew up in 2014 thanks to Gimme Chocolate!!.
Fans at Sabaton's Europe Tour as well Asian/Australian Tour and more recently at The Babyklok Tour and Louder Than Life Festival were enjoying the original version of this song at every show and having a magical moment.
The three white figures dressed in white are probably a reference to old BM era when YuiMetal was still part of the group or maybe a reference to the new young BM unit they previously performed along with them and are part of this new metalverse project, they already debut at Summer Sonic Festival opening the festival with a set of new three songs exclusive for them. When they released this Piano Version the new official member wasn't announced yet, that's why you only see the two of them, after this the official announcement they released another acoustic version of a song called "The One - Unfinished Version" and they included MomoMetal, the new official member in it.
    Next suggestion:
    - METALI!! feat. Tom Morello official MV and get ready to wasshoi!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and see you next time.🦊🤘🌈

I'll let others fill you in on tons of info but I have an anecdote.. I'm 46, and I wife and I saw them live first time ever in Houston and Dallas back to back a MONTH ago, and they were the most electric emotional shows I've experienced in my life!
It wasn't just lightning caught in a bottle when they were young .. their current energy and stage presence is absolutely unreal to witness in person.. no amount of live videos can prepare you, as I discovered. The backing Kami band is of course top 1% outstanding booming metal live, but the happiness and energy and the incredibly tight complicated dance moves they sync up so well is mesmerizing! And yeah, Su's voice live pushes through your chest not in a harsh way, but it's just amazing.
Our first show in Houston we were in the balcony, and I was in emotional shock pretty much the entire time, and that personal reaction really surprised me! In Dallas we were very close on Moa side and the amount of interaction, actual eye contact and laughs waves smiles etc, that feeling you just can't get with any other band.

Just saw them live a few days ago. Been trying to get my schedule to sink up with one of their tours since around 2013. Was not disappointed. Was the first time since '99 (when I went to my very first concert played by Rage Against The Machine) that I actually had some sort of emotional reaction.
Even more fantastic was that they did Metali with Tom Morello on guitar and I got to share/explain who that was to my 14-year-old nephew.

NIce reaction! Welcome to the "foxhole"; it's called that because BM's patron deity is the Fox God...just go with it for now. BM have been around since 2010 and were formed as the "Heavy Metal Club" sub-group of the Amuse Agency's school themed j-pop group "Sakura Gakuin" (Cherry Blossom Academy). The original members were Suzuka Nakamoto as lead singer supported by Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. The concept and music comes out of the mind of their producer Kei Kobayashi and it's very eclectic; you'll get prog rock, death metal, pop, ska and even dubstep. I think of a BM performance as half way between a rock concert and a Broadway show. Their backing band is the Kami Band and contains a roster of Japan's best musicians. Yui left in 2018 because of "health issues" and has not made any public appearances since, although she still has a talent page on the Amuse website which fans take to mean that she is still under contract. In this performance you see only Su and Moa, but the three figures in white teased a third member and in early 2023 another ex Sakura Gakuin member called Momoko Okazaki joined.
If you want contrast now take a look at "Tales of the Destinies at the Tokyo Dome".

I guess this is an old stream. Probably all your questions have been answered now so, I will be quick: they stared in 2010. They were 12 and 11 years old back then. They have four studio albums, the latest one, The Other ONE, came out earlier this year (in March 2023). They are currently touring in the US.
This video was released before they added Momometal as a new official member in April 2023. At that time they were a duo (officially since 2018, technically since 2017).

They originally started writing it about 5 years before it was actually released. As many have said, Yui was forced to take breaks due to increasing health issues. She made a few tours, but the ones she couldn't, they replaced her with other individuals. Out of those others, Momo became the frontrunner to replace her permanently.
So I always viewed this song as one of the more emotional ones to originate from the band (they confirmed Momo taking Yui's spot right after this). Kind of a combination of saying goodbye to a dear friend while welcoming a new one. This performance really captures that vibe, but even the release version is very potent.
After finally catching them live a few days ago after trying since 2013 to get my schedule to sync with their tours, I can honestly say Momo was the right choice. Their performance of Metali where she gets the whole 'Are you ready' growl at the end of her solo was fantastic and really hit me in the feels. It's been fantastic to watch both the artists and their music evolve.

    BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (25 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance. Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (23 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal (20 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.)
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consists of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature, which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.
    Music Video of this Era
    Doki Doki Morning (Debut Song)
    Iine (Pronounced EE-N A spelled i i n e)
    Headbangya
    Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all-power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show “I” was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of its existence. Also established beyond the 3-member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018)
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost, leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020)
First introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.

    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihira, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it.

COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021)
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans at the time was what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has moved on to other projects, including starting a fan club. Kano Fujihara graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4-month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaft Momoko Okazaki who is a graduate of Sakura Gakuin in March 2018 would be the last standing Avenger until she would become the new member of Babymetal.

      Post 10-year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-September 2022)
The band stepped back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. The band spent time working on a new concept album and was never shut down for a hiatus.
Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition destroying all the other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She was blonde for a bit). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round.
The Other One (October 2022-April 2023)
They have released 5 songs on UA-cam, they performed a show in January 2023 where they performed these new songs leading up to the released of their Album in March with 10 new songs. During January and February shows Su and Moa were supported by Momoko. On April First (Fox Day) Their new show played many new and old songs as well as officially made Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal the official 3rd member. Bringing Babymetal back to a 3-member unit once again. This all kicked off their world tour in touring with Sabaton in Europe then Asia and Australia, and tours in US in the fall and a solo tour in Europe in winter, with a tour finally in Japan in 2024.

The New Era of Babymetal (April 2023-Current)
After doing what Su-Metal described in Interviews as the Training Beginning, Su, Moa, and Momo toured Europe with Sabaton, then had solo tours in Asia and Australia, before returning to Japan and having a few solo shows along with hitting the Summer Sonic and other Festivals in Japan before their major tour in the United States with DETHKLOK in September and a tour in Europe after. They will also be taking a shot break from that tour to go back to Japan and perform with Bring Me the Horizon.

FYI, this song and performance was Suzaka and Moa's "Farewell" to Yui-Metal, the missing third girl, who would eventually be replaced by MOMO-Metal. Knowing that, this song brings me to tears as we all loved and rooted for Yui...her "undisclosed health issue" was most likely anemia. Their lifestyle is impossibly hard for women/girls. It takes a toll on their health, big-time.

Rob Zombie did a tour with them and received a ton of flak from fans and fellow artists calling Baby Metal trendy J-pop and hollow shills. Rob defended them in virtually every tweet he got about them and even said they performed with more energy than 90% of the other groups he's ever played with. I hear tale the band was a pretty big fan of Rob too.
The third member of the stage group had to resign from the band due to medical complications and the group has gone on as is since. At least as far as I know, I am bad at keeping up with these things. The band for the group is its own unique entity(s). They have two bands, one for performing on tour in Asia and another for the U.S.

BM started as BM in 2010. At this point in time BM only consisted of 2 OG members, Su & Moa. Yui left in 2018 due to illness. The new 3rd permanent member, Momo, started in April 2023. And as a matter of fact they are currently in the middle of a US tour. They are going stronger than ever!
