Insane Energy? Rob Zombie agrees. He said Baby Metal has more energy than 90% of the bands he's toured with
This is an encore song for a two hour concert.
Nobody expects Babymetal. Babymetal happens. Then you own tshirts and find yourself at a show. I've never seen any other artist/group prompt so many involuntary smiles and genuine astonishment at a performance. Babymetal is an experience.
Nobody expects the Babymetal inquisition.
I first heard of them 4 days ago. Now I'm buying tickets for Nova Rock on the 16th of June so I can attend them. This was the greatest musical discovery I have accidentally made in the last few years lol. They are so fucking good
@@sopcannon their chief weapon is surprise...
@@DraconimLt Surprise, Fear and the fanatical devotion of "The One".
I know about BabyMetal since they became famous in 2014 but I've never gave them a serious listening till i got tickets for Knotfest and now i freaking LOVE them.
That motion that Su-Metal does at the beginning, where she draws a line and then spreads her arms, is her "splitting the pit". She's clearing out an area in the crowd where the people are about to go crazy because the beat is about to drop HARD. It's an old courtesy within the metal community that she picked up from the old timers. Metalheads go HARD & not all of Babymetal's audience is ready for that, let alone ever accustomed to it. Babymetal pits are a kindergarten party compared to Metal acts like Slayer & thats a good thing. I wish pit culture became more of a party and less of a fight club, but it kinda is what it is at this point. We're 40 years deep into it existing so it doesn't seem to be going away, no matter how much i wish it would for the safety of everyone.
Just several hours ago at their live in Yokohama, they announced a reincarnation of BABYMETAL and the new official third member is MOMOMETAL. The audience at the live went totally crazy.
Momoko has earned the official recognition. She has been working her tail off for BabyMetal.
So happy for Momoko. Tbh, I'm still hoping to see Yui but Momoko deserves it.
I hear it was one of the greatest lives ever! I went to my very first live @ Makuhari back in January, but only so many times I can fly from Wash., DC to Japan. I understand the program was designed to bring closure to the former BM ( which included Yui and the Avengers), and so with their new logo, is a re-birth. Also their "younger selves" with Miko-metal most likely will be performing their earlier Kawaii pieces.
MOMOMETAL
🤘🤘🤘
Oh really? Finally, I'm so happy! She is the one from the PA PA YA video, right?
Su having “good lungs” is an understatement. Management told the band to over power her vocals if they could. They couldn’t and they rock hard as hell. I want to see them live again, fun times
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥
I'm glad to see more reactors getting into this group in such a special moment with the girls recently performing a new live concert and another is coming tomorrow while today we're celebrating the Fox Day (April 1st) and the official announcement of a new third member. Lemme tell you a brief basic info about them:
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
None of them are related.
After that year you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them were official members, but now they got a new official member called:
*MomoMetal* and we love her for sure, she's coming from the same roots just like the girls.
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is nuts just like you noticed, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment.
With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males.
BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you heard album tracks remember they aren't playing there.
In this case they are:
- Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs.
- Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments.
- BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
- Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene.
At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too.
If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked
See you next time and kitsune up! 🦊🤘

CORRECTION: MOAMETAL WAS DESCRIBED IN THE PAST AS, SCREAM AND DANCE, BUT SHE ACTUALLY SINGS A LOT MORE THAN THAT DESCRIPTION. I THINK IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO POINT THAT OUT. ALSO, SORRY BUT YOUR DEFINTION OF THE SONG IS PERPLEXING. WHAT IS YOUR SOURCE PLEASE, AS I LOVE HEARING ABOUT BM INTERVIEWS! FOR 1 INSTANCE OF RESISTANCE, I THINK OF THE AHOLE "REACTORS" THAT DIRECTLY INSULT BABYMETAL OVER AND OVER LIKE COWARDLY STALKERS. SPEAKING OF COWARDS, THE POSERS THAT KISS SAID MYSOGINIST/RACIST "REACTORS" BUTTS ARE COWARDS TOO. YOU KNOW WHO I AM TALKING ABOUT. PEACE & LOVE.
Kitsune up!?!?
To be fair most mosh pits are really safe, often bands will reinforce the "Rules of the Pit" before their performance 1: If someone falls, you pick them up. 2: Know that the mosh pit exists (don't mosh outside the pit). 3: Crowd killing is dumb (don't swing your arms wildly). 4: Don't pull non-partisipants in. and 5: (not necessarily about moshing) Be aware of crowd surfers, you don't want an unexpected and unintentional boot to the back of your head.
This guy doesn't seem creepy at all. At. All.
I just got to see them perform this at Babymetal Begins Black Night at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama a couple of hours ago. It's still as powerfully uplifting as it was at this performance. Babymetal live is like nothing else.
You are sooooo lucky! My dream is to go to a BabyMetal show! 🖤🔥🖤🔥

I'm seeing them here in London in a few weeks time as special guests of Sabaton!
Didn't know what to expect - just like thousands at Glastonbury - and stunned silence became made cheering! Such crowd control from teenagers! The Kami band backing them - experts at their craft! So many other big-name bands stayed to watch them too!

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
Pretty much a master class in audience control.
BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song.
You can definitely feel the speed metal in this one though.
Herman Li and Sam Totman of DragonForce contributed guitar tracks for the studio version of this song.
BABYMETAL have shared the stage with DragonForce a couple of times, including a performance of this song at the Golden Gods Awards show in 2015.
That was the same year that BABYMETAL won the Breakthrough! award.
This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
It was while she was with that group that BABYMETAL's producer Kei Kobayashi (Kobametal, or Koba) became aware of Su and her "no holds back" style of singing.
So he decided to build a metal group around her.
BABYMETAL have both the "Wall of Death" (line up on multiple sides, then crash into each other in the middle), and "Circle Pits" (run around in a circle with a bunch of other people).
The fans are cool though, and they're just having fun, not trying to kill each other in the pit.
Yeah, the fans are some really cool people. My older coworker (who wont tell me her age, only that she's an "obaasan") listens to them and i was surprised to learn that.
Yeah - “The Pit” at their concert is different. It’s not about getting smashed, it’s just lots of fans running around having fun and going nuts!
Three young girls, rocking the planet. Legendary.
I’m a newer fan of BM. This song first got me hooked. The things that stand out to me are the positive messages of their songs, the Kami band rocking out, the choreography, the crowd participation. It is wild and different. Their music videos are cool but they are peak BM when they are playing live.
And crazy wild adventurous range of music styles they blended with metal too!
Same! 4 months in now and I'm so deep down the foxhole it's unreal. We became fans at a great time it would seem! So happy for all of them now that Momoko is the official third!!
13 days late, but incase someone hasnt mentioned it yet.. near the end, at: 10:00 - 10:10 , when Sue-Metal (the lead singer) shouts a quick phrase between herr lyrics, she's yelling "Common you guys!" As a direct challenge to the nay-sayers at the time this performance happened, as MANY major brands and news outlets were claiming that Babymetal would never amount to anything, that it was a fad that'd quickly die out. That part always gives me goosebumps, even before i learned what it was she said.
15 Years old, and this little girl had 40,000+ people eating out of her hand. She was DIRECTLY challenging the nay-sayers with that quick line of hers.
Fast-forward a few years and she says it again at a live-performance at one of Japan's biggest colosseums, only that time with a smile on her face. A vary much warranted smile, as if to say "we are still here and proved you wrong."
How do you know this? 😲
@Liquidrass saw it mentioned in another reply to another reaction video a while back. :)
On the start you have a Wall of death (the crowd split in two and run at each other) and a circle pit (running around). Common thing during metal live show. People from Japan tend to be specialy dedicated to their favorite band. This is the result. Love it^^
It's called moshing. It's been around for nearly 40 years...
@@baghead777 right it's another terme use for that
Welcome to an iconic BABYMETAL performance!
You have no idea what is to come… They are a force.
For voice performance focused tracks, I’d recommend the following, but really, you can’t go wrong.
No Rain no Rainbow BAPTISM XX
From Dusk ‘til Dawn -live Budokan 2021
Monochrome on the channel First Take. This is very recent and it’s a beautiful stripped back vocally brilliant performance.
The girls were just 16/15/15 in the show you just saw. Amazing. But now they have matured into not only seasoned performers, but you can see how far they’ve come.
There’s only two of the original 3 left (long story) but they are setting up for a third member to join shortly. The new album is call “The Other One”…
I was lucky enough to see them live in Japan in 2016 over two nights. 55,000 sold out both nights. Totally EPIC. 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Enjoy the ride!

That's exactly what happened to me! I'm 56 and a total metal head. BabyMetal is Japanese national treasure in my opinion.
you are right . i watched them since stay home 2019 when covid time. and now still keep watching every weekend
Welcome to the foxhole!
BABYMETAL has been together over a decade now, starting when the girls were just 10 - 11 years old. They have just released a new album, "THE OTHER ONE" and will be touring to support it over the coming months. I'm a 59 year old metal musician who has been in the music business since the early 80s and this is my favorite band. They turn out some of the greatest music I have ever heard, do these crazy big shows and consistently perform at maximum levels of WTF.
Kitsune dao!
Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You already have far too much to read - I'll just say that yes you understood the meaning of the song, they are very good at getting across what they want us to feel despite singing mostly in Japanese and so many of us not understanding a word of it. The choreo is actually in part designed to help with that interpretation.
This song is about forging your own path, not copying or following anybody else - pressing ahead even if there is no path to follow, so push through the undergrowth, overcome the hurdles etc.
It could easily be used to describe their own journey ... they could have followed the well trodden JPop path they were destined for and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal - and again they didn't just copy the traditional metal bands, they did it their own way and it hasn't always been easy.
Babymetal 💕 🤟
Welcome to the world of Mosh Pits! This pit started out as a Wall of Death. Then later a circle pit was formed, and then again! It's lots of fun, if you're fit enough for it lol. You get a chance to forget about everything else in the world but the music and movement. You're really living in the moment!
This is almost a decade old but I still get a little misty-eyed after 'Sing it!' and the crowd carries it on their own.
This is at its core an idol group, even though it's metal. Japanese Idol fans are an interesting thing, they tend to bring their own choreography in the audience (wotagei) and they really get involved in the performances. I like to say there are two performances going on there. And you are right, in the "anthem" section there is a very marked shift in tone, you can feel it across time and space.. it's an odd thing.
BABYMETAL = Pure Energy.
Man I'm so envious of all the new fans experiencing BABYMETAL for the very first time now, especially at this point in time during the birth of The new Era of BABYMETAL. That awesome feeling of having your mind blown wide open.

While I'm envious in a way of anyone getting to hear them now for the first time, were I only hearing them for the first time now I wouldn't have seen their iconic show in Wembley, or all of the other times they've been to the UK.
every time is like the first time. So good.
Su Metal the singer debut when she's 5 or 6 meaning she's been singing earlier than that, and she's been trained to be an Idol so singing and dancing is easy for them
They are in their middle teens, High School students. They international breakout was in 2014 the Sonisphere Festival in England. In 30 minutes they conquered the 60,000 at the festival. They have toured worldwide ever since. First Japanese band to perform in Wembley Arena, London and in 2019 sod-out the LA Forum. They were the first Japanese to chart on Billboard in 50+ years.
NEXT - "Monochrome" official MV and "Monochrome" on The First Take, piano Version.
The most famous Japanese High School students in the world at the time. 🙂
Babymetal future will eteral rise to a very grand perfectly dominated spectacular performance skills and a great deliver!
I’m just amazed at the hold these girls have over the crowd. What queens.
Especially for how young they were at the time. Lead was 17, the other two were 15. High school students having a sold out theater like this completely in the palms of their hands
@@VegetaLF7Well Japan has a weird thing with Idols and they get very creepy about underaged girls over there. Most idols are used and abused in Japan and are always surrounded by pedophiles who have money. Lets just say BabyMetal got very lucky in that regard.
@@GinjerFour "most" is not correct at all. Most participants of idol culture are boys and girls the same age as the idols themselves. Some of the creepy fan clubs however are filled with grown men and are given much more attention. But thats not a majority and they're mainly an issue in the mainstream scene because of all the creepy purity quotas, but Babymetal and other metal and punk influenced groups are from the alternative scene which is not bad at all as they appeared as a rebellion against the mainstream scene. They can regularily stage dive without issue and none of the horror stories have come from the alternative scene. Most of them aren't very young either, it's common for alternative idols to start their career in their mid 25s, Babymetal is unique in that regard since it was their juxtapposed imagine to be young female metal artists, probably entirely unheard of before them.
There certainly are alot of creeps, but it can't be considered uniquely japanese or idol related. Remember how people sexualized Billie Eilish when she was 16-17? I've never seen anything like that come from Babymetal fans, even now when they're in their mid 20s everything around them is pretty wholesome. Can't say the same for child stars from hollywood.
@@GinjerFour that's true for a lot of young artists unfortunately, however (and holy fuck this is a big W) Babymetal was NEVER sexualized in ANY shape or form. The girls never had their private lives shared on any platform and their outfits were never showing... pretty much anything. Both the girls and musicians were all about having a good time together with the crowd during concerts while producing insane music. Nothing more. Probably one of the biggest reasons they are still HUGE, and some would say are in a new golden era even after a decade.
they took the darkness out of metal and put the fun and light into it. love them!!!!
The red glow of the wolfsbane in the eastern sky...
A new beacon that signals the end of the darkness of loneliness.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow
Burning steel spirit, that's our resistance
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow

If you like the lead singer (su-metal) listen to "no rain no rainbow" it's her solo song.
You can really feel her emotions come through (especially when you understand the meaning of the song)
A Thousand times this No Rain No Rainbow is magnificent. The one from her home town of Hiroshima is my favorite version
Every single person experiences their first BABYMETAL song the exact same way. About a minute of confusion, then like 5-6 minutes of joy.
A master class on working the crowd. Loved your reaction. Wall of death and a mosh pit. + the sing along., She brings them back when they get off tempo.
Just bought tickets for their US tour starting in August. I cant wait!
Not sure if anyone mention it but this was like the 3rd encoure of a like 90 minute show and that is still there energy level.
You should check out other live performances of this when they weren't wearing masks. Hideki, the drummer, during the last verse, when Yui and Moa turn around he makes all kinds of funny faces at them to try to make them laugh. You can't really see it too well here. So cute.
Theres an amazing video from 2016 with the girls playing a metal festival and being pushed out on stage because another band fell through.
They were so nervous and the crowd barely reacted to them.
By the end they had earned the love of thousands of hardcore metal fans, who dispite having never heard their songs or even understand the language, were going f*cking nuts 🤘🦊🤘
Plz can you link me the video, cause I can't find it
Live BabyMetal is best BabyMetal. They can control the crowd like no other. Try headbanger legend 1997 concert 🔥🦊🔥
The thing happening at the beginning is the metalheads' bonding ritual; it's called a moshpit. I know it looks like a re-enactment of medieval battles (and you're not really wrong there) but it's good fun and, while accidents can and do happen, you're mostly safe in one; especially because no metalhead worth their beer will allow a fellow metalhead to get hurt.
何年経っても何回聞いても神曲👍
the first song they performed was Doki Doki Morning in 2010!!! which means the singer was 13 and the other two girls were 11 xD
the crazy thing for me is that the other rarely sing. and on her 21st birthday MoA one of the two did sing a mainsong and it was the most beautiful voice i mean they are all trained singers its a shame i wished she sings more xD (since 2023 the band has a new 3rd member MOMOMETAL)
I have known about Baby Metal for a while now. The simplest way to describe them is this, Baby Metal lives at the intersection of hard-core heavy metal music & marshmallow cute singing.
Great reaction!! Su-metal is practicing her singing on treadmill to sustain her singing on her dancing. Many big names are relying on the backing track in concert. They are not! Please listen to Rondo of Nightmare, live in Budokan Blacknight.
Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL started back in 2010 and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too.🤘🦊🤘
May 25 BM will have a concert in Jakarta Can't wait to watch it😊🤘🌹
I love how stunned everybody looks when first seeing baby metal live
The longest distance I've ever travelled to a concert was when I flew from Amsterdam to Japan just to see Baby Metal in concert. It was worth every moment.

'babymetal headbanger' at leagend 1997 will be a good one for the next reaction
Oh yea anytime you do BabyMetal always always do a live show that is where they shine and where the energy is. Also if you want energy from the Crowd and see how much the crowd loves the girls then Headbanger from Legend of 97 show.
It's impossible to smile listening Babymetal for the first time. The presence, the performance, the music, vocals... everything is awesome!

Their new album proved it again, you never know what to expect with Babymetal 🤘🦊🤘
Have fun exploring!
Thanks for this reaction, Babymetal are something fairly unique and special.
They started really young and as you said: 7:05 it is a dream, but surprisingly, the lead singer had said: when she was little she wanted to perform at the famous Budokan, in Tokyo. She achieved that dream at age 16 (!). Babymetal set the record at Budokan as the youngest female group to perform there. After which they embarked on their first world tour after also releasing their first album. Their third performance on that tour was at a metal festival on the main stage in front of 60 000+ metal heads. So the year after an other world tour and by the end they perform Road of Resistance for the first time, in the UK and at a small fan-only show in Japan and then at this arena show, their biggest at the time 20 000 fans. The audience knew exactly what to do based on directions even with a large part of the audience not seen previous shows. This all happened all before the lead singer turned 18. And the other ones were 14 at Budokan and had their 15th birthday on the first world tour. And were still 15 at this show you watched. Now that said they very much remember the first performance and this one very fondly. 🙂
You are right about the lyrics, the song is about making your own path, just like Babymetal are not a regular metal band or a regular Japanese Pop group, but something new, never done before, thus creating their own path. So the song is also very much about themselves.

Welcome to the foxhole. Nice reaction. Folks use to joke that Su practice singing while on a treadmill. Trying to explain how she can sing and dance like that. Some folks just got it like that. Or she works hard on when to breath and has the timing of it down pat. This goes hand in hand with the cadence of the music. Making sure there is always a place for her to get that breath in. They have some fantastic writers and composers. Babymetal have won awards for their concert performances. Which is why you'll often hear Live Babymetal is the best Babymetal. This was the original line up. Now often referred to as the classic Babymetal. That's Su-metal lead, Yuimetal and Moametal scream and dance. Oddly they do a lot more dancing and cheerleading the audience then screaming. Sadly, Yui left officially in 2018 due to health issues. One of the dancers that has been filling in her spot in the dance formation has now finally been made an official member of Babymetal. Her name is Momoko AKA Momometal.
When Babymetal first started out metalhead gatekeepers hated Babymetal and thought they were going to be the end of metal as they know it. Babymetal took the Road of Resistance. Which is hard and rocky unpaved and untraveled. This song shows their resolve to stay metal. They may not be the metal they liked But Babymetal is their own kind of metal. AKA Kawaii Metal. They've been around for over 10 years. Starting way back in 2010. Their first album came out a couple of years later. Su was 12 and Yui and Moa were 10 back then. I tend to suggest to reactors to start in the beginning with Babymetal so they can grow with the band. Literally since they were so young when they started. Lucky for new viewers you don't have to wait all those years for them to grow. They have four albums out now. The Fourth just released this year. Two with Yui and the last two since she left. Their very first song is Doki Doki Morning. You should check out that song. Enjoy the ride through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
The Holy Trinity ❤

The running in a circle that we see here is probably the most common Mosh Pit, the Circle Pit. The other version you might see occasionally is the Wall of Death, were two groups run toward and crash into each other intentionally, the Rules of the Mosh Pit apply in both versions.
This has queen live aid vibes. The fact that this is the tokyo dome i believe and there are this many people singing together is pure joy
this was taken in SSA 2015
Every Baby Metal show is pure theatre they always leave everything on the stage. They introduced many fans of J-Rock and J-Metal, including me, to Japanese music. Without their continuing influence there would be so many amazing undiscovered bands out there and they continue to make brilliant music. Try the official lyric video to Monochrome next. Enjoy !
Late to this this, but Ijime,Dame,Zettai from Sonisphere 2014
Despite the language barrier, you IMMEDIATELY understood that "Road to Resistance" was a power-anthem, designed to lift people up and connect others!! You're definitely a great musician to be able to do that. :)
8:40. Su Metal starts leading the chant again because the crowd got off beat. She corrected. That is awesome
It's hard getting BabyMetal cold like this. You almost have to go back and start with Doki-Doki Morning and live through it with the rest of us to really appreciate it.
You should do their song headbanger next. It's another great performance to watch the live version
I remember the first time I saw Babymetal over a decade ago. They immediately received a place on my workout playlist. One of the few bands I regret I never had the opportunity to see their show live.
I saw this song live in ATL last sun, and it's even more powerful in person. I can promise u that.
Great reaction! Did I see a hint of surprise on your face? :-) I have been a fan for almost 6 years now, and they still continue to surprise me. Musically, I would say this is actually one of the more "standard" Metal songs in their repertoire. A large part of their catalogue is more playful than this. Where they excel at is fusing different genres of music with different subgenres of Metal. That makes for a great variety in their catalogue. And then there's of course the choreographed dancing that contributes to them standing out among other Metal bands. There's also this air of positivity that's not that common in Metal.
My recommendation for another reaction would be the song "Headbanger" from the "Legend 1997" show.
I love that this was your first Babymetal reaction! This is, IMHO, one of the greatest live musical performances of all time. There is so much to unpack here, and you really hit a few key points in your reaction.
The meaning of the song... there are a lot of interpretations, however, the one I like to think about is that this is a victory anthem. When this group was started, not many, not even their own talent agency, thought it could go anywhere. As an experimental fusion of J-Pop/Idol and Metal, most people were highly speculative. This song was released after they had already had a very successful first album and world tour. I see it as their proclamation of overcoming every obstacle that was put in front of them and becoming wildly successful (they are the most successful Japanese Music group when it comes to popularity outside of Japan, in history). So, lyrics and lore aside, they are literally and figuratively planting their flag atop the mountain of musical success.
Moving on, there are three important aspects that I think you would enjoy that are not immediately evident when watching this video. You segued to this perfectly when you were talking about how powerful it was to have the crowd interaction / crowd singalong, esp the acapella bit. Well, get ready to have your brain warped... You see. this was only the third time this song was ever performed. This song's debut was in London England in front of a crowd of ~5,000. About two months later, it was performed for about 3,000 fans in Tokyo. This show was about 2 weeks after that, in front of ~36,000. Now, look at how this crowd already knew the song, and knew what to do, when to do it, ect. 36,000 in this crowd, yet, only 8,000 had ever seen this song performed live before... That says a LOT about their fan base AND about their crowd control. Which brings up my second point...
Sumetal (lead vocal) had just turned 17 less then two weeks before this show. Yui and Moa were both 15. So, 36,000 fans, most of which had not seen or heard this song (the ones who had heard it definitely only heard bootlegs from the previous 2 shows) were perfectly controlled by a 17 year old and two 15 year olds... That, my friend, is stage presence!
Third and final point for this comment. This song was the finale that night (you may have guessed that by the ending). What you can't know from this video is that they had been performing at this intense energy level for over 90 minutes at this point in the show! They played a full 13 song set, and then a 3 song encore, ending with Road of Resistance.
I hope that my comment leads you to an even greater respect for Babymetal and I am looking forward to watching you react to more!
Kitsune UP!
I love people's first reaction to BabyMetal! Welcome to the FoxHole!
In a crowd this size, yes, when you get the crowd all singing, it's fun and it works. Not so much in a smaller crowd, of course. If you get twenty regular people off the street who are not professional singers all trying to sing along, it doesn't sound good. But when it's twenty *thousand* people, it's great, because the individual mistakes/flaws in each voice get drowned out. (Even here, the lead singer has to repeatedly use the mic every little bit to keep the crowd more or less together; but she can and does and it works.)
My favorite Babymetal song has always been iine (the second song they released); but BxMxC is also really good. If you go down the rabbit hole, then inevitably at some point you have to watch their original debut music video, Dokidoki Morning; but you may not be ready for that experience yet. Their newer stuff tends to be more popular with metal fans generally, probably due to leaning more heavily into the metal, with less of the J-pop influence. Pa Pa Ya is a reasonably good example, or the aforementioned BxMxC.
Babymetal used to be maybe my favorite metal band, before I discovered Bloodywood.
Great Reaction! This is such a good song of theirs to react to first. BabyMetal is very unique in the Rock World. You can't compare them to anyone else.
Welcome to the one. BM gets the best reactions, and the fanbase is loyal to those who reflect the joy their band gives
Judging by your reaction this was the perfect first song of theirs for you to listen to 😍 Well Done. Btw SUMETAL is the lead singer but they are all capable of switching around, becoming the lead singer and Su can nail all the side choreography as well 🤘🏻
Welcome to the Fox hole.Today is a very special day! Its Fox God day! And BABYMETAL become a trio again!!! Momo Metal is born!!!
I first got into BABYMETAL the day they released their video for Megitsune, which I think was June 2013, and they've done nothing but blow my mind since. Seen them live a few times, went to their first 2 UK shows ever, and album after album they kick ass. Don't think anything will top their first album, for me anyway.

Just saw Babymetal last Sunday in Yokohama. They were awesome!!!
Since you reacted to LiSA’s First Take video, try Babymetal’s First Take of “”Monochrome”. Then listen/watch to the band version. Thanks
This song is interesting to start out with as It is a victory song where they have taken the road of resistance and crossed a huge checkpoint. The obstacles they encounter and totally annihilated through pure talent and metal music were the naysayers and the critics that said that "real metal" couldn't come from little Japanese girls with a cutesy voices. They have proven that they truly are the Fox God Queens. They rock hard and sing pure. Su-Metal's lead voice has matured beautifully through the years. Moa-Metal has danced her heart and soul out beside her through it all. And even though we lost a few dear members, BabyMetal performs stronger than ever. They do all sorts of styles, not just heavy metal.
*Oh and please for your channel safety put an overlay on the video, because Japan's internet laws are nasty with youtube's takedown content system.*
Needs looking into more.
Su is one of the best singers on the planet.
Hi from San Francisco California- please do more Babymetal reactions
Babymetal 💕 🤟
So much to learn about baby metal !! One of the best bands ever !! I’d love to Drum for them if they needed me
The Beastie Boys always said that Japan was their favorite place in the world to visit because "Japan gets everything cool 5 years before the rest of the world does."
Cite Babymetal as just another example.
Great reaction! If you do more Babymetal, you got yourself a new Subscrider! Recommendation: Light and Darkness, its one of their most recent songs, you'll be able to hear how lead singer Su-Metal's voice has matured, she was 17 during this performance, She's 25 now.
absolutely amazing and wonderful song thanks for this reaction please more Babymetal live 🥺🥺❤️❤️🇯🇵🇯🇵
First of all, this song is a recording of the encore after BABYMETAL one-man show. All the singers sing every song while doing vigorous dancing. A group with a completely new concept of "metal + cute". The band in the back is called the "Kami Band" and is a group of world-class performers. I think this video is probably the best video in every way. Please enjoy.
Their songs are all a bit different which is part of their style.
If memory serves, this was the last song of the concert which is amazing at how much energy they still had. They were about 14-15 in this song so I always think when they say 'see you', I add in 'we have to go do our homework now for class tomorrow'.
There is Su, Moa and Yui, sadly Yui left due to injury(?) about 2017 or 18 but is replaced with two other dancers.
My favorites are Headbanger (watch the the video from the same concert), and Megitsune (I prefer the official video over the live versions). Catch Me if You Can really showcases Yui and Moa singing as well in a song. If you want to watch a video where they are really young, watch Doki Doki Morning, official video.
They were 17, 15 and 15 here.
I love watching the expressions on peoples' faces when they first see BabyMetal.
Baby Metal is ridiculously entertaining. They are an exceptionally good. .
It looks like you read my comment suggesting BABYMETAL lol I’m sure you loved this 🤪
This band and nightwish is going to garner a lot of views. I am going to suggest you do something and I really hope you will listen. Take the BABYMETAL journey go back to the beginning. This song is probably top 5 of all their stuff but it is from album number 2 . Go watch, react to the early BM concert live videos trust me don't spoil your experience by reacting out of sequence even tho this band is now releasing their 4th album. This group started over 10 years ago still very much kids ages 12 or 13. You have an opportunity to watch the evolution of this fantastic band. Please do it right for yourself.
And now think of that song being the tail end of a 90 minute (or more) show, held largely at that pace.
Exciting reaction video!!!
I can feel your love for BABYMETAL🦊
I'm Japanese and I love BABYMETAL just like you.
Perfect time to start reacting to babymetal they just released as album and the just announced today that their support dancer momoko has become the new official 3rd member with the stage name MOMOMETAL. MOMOMETAL has the same group position as MOAMETAL and will also be mic’d from now on. Former 3rd member YUIMETAL left the group in 2018 due to an undisclosed health issue.
at the beginning when she points and moves her arms apart she is calling for "a wall of death" the mosh pit separates along the middle and when the song starts they charge into each other, or so i think
You like when a crowd participates? Try these two :-) : Queen at Live Aid and then - the Greenday crowd singing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody - and if you don't know Bohemian Rhapsody - you have another huge treat in store :-) Happy watching/listening 🙂
Babymetal provide one of the greatest live performance experiences. They're live trademark is the crowd being heavily involved in the performance, from the pit circles to the crowd providing vocals. Their live music in on par with their own studio performances and some of the best studio bands in the world. Everything pales once you've been to a Babymetal concert and it's easy to see why they're so popular.
BabyMetal is the real deal, super talented artists and hard working performers. Live videos are (in my opinion) the best way to get introduced to them. Welcome to the Foxhole...great reaction. 🤘🦊🤘
i think if u wanna listen to babymetal that focus on vocal you can look at their performance in the first take, its piano version of monochrome...
Good first reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL.
And you arrived in a very special day for all us, because they just announced Momoko Okazaki (MOMOMETAL) as the new official member since their former member, Yui aka YUIMETAL left officially in 2018 after not performing since October 2017 due to undisclosed health issues.
This was the epic final encore of a super epic concert, New Year Fox Festival - Legend 2015 held in Saitama on January 10th 2015 at the SSA (Saitama Super Arena) with a sold-out crowd of over 20.000 people.
Fortunately, for this live video they decided to keep the live audio just cutting out the majority of the extended "We are? BABYMETAL!" extensive outro.
As it's said, Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce collaborated with BABYMETAL on this one writing the guitar arrangements and also playing on the studio recording. Funnily enough they ended up performing it live with the girls later that same year. The song premiered live at O2 Academy Brixton in London in November 2014.
That moment when they walked through the bridge was so special for them as SU-METAL explained years later. She said that was one of her favorite moments on stage. She also made this song her personal anthem. You can tell she was on fire, specially during the second half of the song, by her expressions. Not to mention the moment she verbalized it by shouting: "Kakatte koi yaa!" ("Bring it on!").
Until next time! 🤘🦊
Babymetal will always be yui moa and su
@@stephanielorraine1898 it isn't that way since 2018. Cherish the time Yui-Metal was with Babymetal, watch their past performances, no one is gonna take that away but accept she isn't part of Babymetal anymore. Clinging to Yui after more than 4 years, really isn't healthy .
So it's official now. Quite deservedly so. Momoko blended seamlessly in, doubtless the result of dedication and lots of work.
I'm going to se them May 12 in Cologne supporting Sabaton. Can't wait.
@@ralfklonowski3740 Absolutely! They just updated their official website.
I'm seeing them on May 5th in Berlin!
Have fun in Cologne!
@@stephanielorraine1898 well no, Yui left 5 years ago, thus, Babymetal is not Yui. lol
