While this is great for making GeForce now accessible it doesn’t really address the issue many of us have had with the service in the past. What we really need is a native Linux client so we can get 4k/HDR and higher frame rates. If you try docking your deck the best resolution you can get is 1080p through chrome (at least it was the last time I tried).
You need to dual boot windows and run it in windows to get higher resolution and framerate for and external monitor. The deck script only allows native resolution at 60fps right now
For anyone having resolution issues while in the geforce now app, be sure to change the resolution in properties before opening the app. 1280x720 should be good, but give others ago and see what best suits your needs.
The script adds the images itself...weird it didn't for you Also on Bazzite OS you need to edit the script "bin/GeForceNOW_Setup_Helper" line 162 and remove the end part "and 'valve' in platform.release().lower()". You'll likely also want to change the resolution and scale to fit your needs in the "bin/NVIDIA GeForce NOW" file on line 65. The "--window-size=1024,640 --force-device-scale-factor=1.25 --device-scale-factor=1.25" part
thanks for the upload! there isn't much content on this matter online :) Question: If you use Geforce NOW and connect the deck to a TV, is the cloud gaming experience as good as one would hope for? (4K 60fps, for example?)
I tested this last night. The install went easy enough (I had to add the artwork as well manually). After logging into GFN, I can move the mouse and use the D pad, but the right trigger doesnt work as a regular mouse click and I have to use the touch screen to select something. Is there anything I need to set as far as controls to make the GFN menus work? Once I started Fortnite through GFN, it detected all the Steam controls no problem and everything worked in game at least. If it's only the GFN menu that I have use touchscreen, thats really no big deal.
Another Great video. MS should incorporate a similar option for game pass subscribers as well where a script would take care of all the leg work allowing steam deck users to play xcloud games.
Given the Steam Deck's less than stellar wifi, ethernet will always improve things. Been using it and it performs pretty well even over Starlink with 30ms ping.
Is GFN ultimate worth it on the steamdeck or is GFN performance sufficient since steamdeck is caped at 60 fps? Can you max settings on AAA games? And can you play fps games?
Wassup ETAP; Maybe you have a video for this already but anyway what emulators (retro emulation software) can I download for my iPad and iPhone? Merry May the 4th btw and stay safe;
Dude when im in the “get in game on” screen and it says get in i press get in scan the qr code log in with my phone and it says login failed on the deck but it says successfully logged in on my phone, could you help?
It stream from their servers and it works better than any other service I've tried. With a controller it feels like playing native. 500Mbps is my internet speed
If I'm not mistaken, those are two different things. GeForce Now is the cloud gaming service, streaming from your PC to another device was called GameStream, and nVidia killed it. Which is why you need Moonlight, created as a client to the service, and Sunshine, created as replacement for GameStream acting as host.
Great vid, I have everything downloaded, I have an account and I paid for priority. But yet I’ve been trying to login for 3 hours and it keeps saying login failed. I feel like I just got dooped out of my money.
@ETAprime Hi I got some questions. Noob here lol Am I able to launch GeForce without wifi? Let’s say I have some games on steam, am I able to use GeForce to play them or do I have to buy games through GeForce? Last how do I download that pipboy home layout?
Yeah this definitely isn’t working, when I try to click on the execute option, that one window just opens up and nothing happens so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong :(
Hi just wondering if you have any ideas on why I'm having an issue. I did everything the way that you explained in the video and it installed. The issue is that every time I launch a game it freezes on startup. I've been googling it and it seems to have been an issue for a long time so I'm just wondering what the fix is since some people are able to get it to work. It asks me to link the games that I own since I guess it only works if you own the game. The games I'm wanting to play I do own so that's not an issue. I have linked them and it still fails on startup.
GeForce does not register that i am using joystick so is there some way to enable on steam deck while using the same executable as in the video and to play with the steam deck controls, everything that i had done currently is just using wasd and mouse controls
I'd love to test any game streaming service, but none of them are available in my country. Not GeForce Now, not Luna, not Stadia when it still was active, and not even one of the smaller players like Shadow. All I have is my own computer through Steam Link, whenever it wants to work through the open Internet
Many of the games with anti-cheat that just don't work on a Steam Deck. Any game you wish would be more performant (Even a simple game like Deep Rock Survivor struggles on the harder levels). None of the Sony published games unfortunately though.
I already have it installed through abother installer i forget the name of that installs a bunch of 3rd party stuff. Does this version of GeForce now work better with the steam deck or is it the same? The version i have has problems with controls sometimes and you have to use the same control scheme for pretty much every game. If anyone knows if this version is the same or better, please let me know.
Neat that they'd offer this out of nowhere... then again, I'm not getting a portable gaming PC to use cloud gaming services. :P I guess this is great for games that will never run on the Deck due to sh*tty anti-cheat crap though.
Ok so if you know what Netflix then this is kinda like that. It allows you to stream games (that you don’t already own) to your Steam Deck in this case to play at a higher performance. But you will need a stable internet connection and preferably something with high speeds as well in case you have other users on your wifi.
> the actual game runs on a server > your inputs (WASD/controller input) are sent to the server > the game is streamed from the server to your Deck > upsides = as the server has much better hardware, you can run much more demanding games + games which don't/can't run on the Deck > downsides = you need a good internet connection to stream the games + hard to play competitive games as you may feel the tiny amount of lag
Not really a L, it's smart and saves developer hours, Helps keep cost lower. Savings ultimately gets transferred to the consumer. I don't want to be indirectly funding the developing of solutions that already exist.
Yes. Chrome offers robust features, security updates, and extensive developer tools, allowing developers to focus on their application rather than reinventing the browser wheel.
Chrome is based on the open-source Chromium project, it includes additional features, optimizations, and security enhancements tailored by Google. User://flags configurations are just one aspect of this customization. Chrome's integration with Google services, frequent updates, and support made it the preferred choice for Nvidia developers over building and maintaining their own Chromium version. 🤷♂️ I guess the counter argument would be, building a custom Chromium build allows for greater control over features, security settings, and optimizations tailored to the software's requirements.
