There is a decky plugin for steam grid db so you can get artwork in game mode.
While this is great for making GeForce now accessible it doesn’t really address the issue many of us have had with the service in the past. What we really need is a native Linux client so we can get 4k/HDR and higher frame rates.
If you try docking your deck the best resolution you can get is 1080p through chrome (at least it was the last time I tried).
For anyone having resolution issues while in the geforce now app, be sure to change the resolution in properties before opening the app. 1280x720 should be good, but give others ago and see what best suits your needs.
Hopefully they opt to provide 90hz and HDR support for Steam Deck at some point
You can’t just give a screen 90hz lol that’s a hardware thing not a software thing
My Steam Deck is 90hz
@@illuminatedGaming33 whoops… just did my googles on the steam deck oled and yes.. it has a 90hz display… but no VRR will always be a flaw
@@bandzzman1224vrr doesn’t matter. Just enjoy the game. There’s only 2 handhelds on the market with vrr and only
1 of them is good.
Thanks for this!
Thanks ETA prime for this video I just received my new Steam Deck and need this added help!
Have a great day!
The script adds the images itself...weird it didn't for you
Also on Bazzite OS you need to edit the script "bin/GeForceNOW_Setup_Helper" line 162 and remove the end part "and 'valve' in platform.release().lower()".
You'll likely also want to change the resolution and scale to fit your needs in the "bin/NVIDIA GeForce NOW" file on line 65. The "--window-size=1024,640 --force-device-scale-factor=1.25 --device-scale-factor=1.25" part
Already had it installed. This guide will be easier for folks that is first timer on linux.
Thanks for your video!
I tested this last night. The install went easy enough (I had to add the artwork as well manually). After logging into GFN, I can move the mouse and use the D pad, but the right trigger doesnt work as a regular mouse click and I have to use the touch screen to select something. Is there anything I need to set as far as controls to make the GFN menus work? Once I started Fortnite through GFN, it detected all the Steam controls no problem and everything worked in game at least. If it's only the GFN menu that I have use touchscreen, thats really no big deal.
Wassup ETAP; Maybe you have a video for this already but anyway what emulators (retro emulation software) can I download for my iPad and iPhone? Merry May the 4th btw and stay safe;
great video!
thanks bro
I don't understand why it's so complicated
Is it difficult to provide a downloadable app
I don't get it what's new? Is there anything different to the previous workarounds?
Thanks. Do you have a video for installing themes
I miss read this as , "do you have a video for installing the memes" 😭
He does from about a year ago
Where did you get that steam deck UI?
Love that theme, what is it?
Is GeForce now Just streaming from Nvidia servers or can it still stream from your own gaming PC? If so, how does it compare to Sunshine moonlight?
It stream from their servers and it works better than any other service I've tried. With a controller it feels like playing native. 500Mbps is my internet speed
If I'm not mistaken, those are two different things. GeForce Now is the cloud gaming service, streaming from your PC to another device was called GameStream, and nVidia killed it. Which is why you need Moonlight, created as a client to the service, and Sunshine, created as replacement for GameStream acting as host.
@@XSpImmaLion That explains a lot. Appreciate the response
Games stream was awesome, not sure why nvidia killed it
What are the pros of using moonlight at this point?
Steam's own remote play(In-home streaming) supports NVENC, VCE and Quicksync
I already have it installed through abother installer i forget the name of that installs a bunch of 3rd party stuff. Does this version of GeForce now work better with the steam deck or is it the same? The version i have has problems with controls sometimes and you have to use the same control scheme for pretty much every game. If anyone knows if this version is the same or better, please let me know.
Is this preferred over Steam Link?
Non of my steam games are showing up on the gfn on my sd,even after resync, what am i doing wrong
Great vid, I have everything downloaded, I have an account and I paid for priority. But yet I’ve been trying to login for 3 hours and it keeps saying login failed. I feel like I just got dooped out of my money.
Another Great video. MS should incorporate a similar option for game pass subscribers as well where a script would take care of all the leg work allowing steam deck users to play xcloud games.
Can you make a guide on how to get your pipboy themes though? Sh*t's lit! 🔥🔥🔥
How to make UI looks like a Fallout UI font in SteamOS? Looks nice.
thank you! does this allow use of gyro in Gforce now?
I heard that it does, but isn’t very good. Very hit or miss.
Dang it! Thanks for the response!
If you enable it in the Steam controller settings and set it to the mouse/joystick then it should work in most apps.
When I press yes to install it I'm stuck on the console screen nothing happens
how do you get geforce now app installed?
Everything is done go to hit play and it wont launch?
What would you guys say are the 5 best games this now allows us to play? I’m trying to see if this is even worth doing
Yeah
Many of the games with anti-cheat that just don't work on a Steam Deck. Any game you wish would be more performant (Even a simple game like Deep Rock Survivor struggles on the harder levels). None of the Sony published games unfortunately though.
mine doesnt have sound
Better graphics, and much much much more battery time 😮😮. It is amazing 😮😮
but we cant use steam os on rtx cards -_-
sorry, what did you say, it doesnt look the same because you are using...?
I'd love to test any game streaming service, but none of them are available in my country. Not GeForce Now, not Luna, not Stadia when it still was active, and not even one of the smaller players like Shadow. All I have is my own computer through Steam Link, whenever it wants to work through the open Internet
Lmao they did it! The mad lads!
They didn't. This is just lipstick on a pig.
I'm new to all this, can someone explain what the purpose of this is? Like what it does. Total noob here lol
It's a cloud gaming service provided by nVidia... kinda like the failed Google Stadia.
Ok so if you know what Netflix then this is kinda like that. It allows you to stream games (that you don’t already own) to your Steam Deck in this case to play at a higher performance. But you will need a stable internet connection and preferably something with high speeds as well in case you have other users on your wifi.
> the actual game runs on a server
> your inputs (WASD/controller input) are sent to the server
> the game is streamed from the server to your Deck
> upsides = as the server has much better hardware, you can run much more demanding games + games which don't/can't run on the Deck
> downsides = you need a good internet connection to stream the games + hard to play competitive games as you may feel the tiny amount of lag
Wow awesome! Thanks for the responses guys. I have 400 mb internet speed do you think that would be good enough?
@@ryanthomas4943 yeah that’s probably enough but I can’t really say as I’ve never used the service myself.
Given the Steam Deck's less than stellar wifi, ethernet will always improve things. Been using it and it performs pretty well even over Starlink with 30ms ping.
Team green doing something for Linux users without them asking? Are pigs flying
On a very AMD device as well!
Playing a competitive game through a streaming service sounds like a bad time lol.
Neat that they'd offer this out of nowhere... then again, I'm not getting a portable gaming PC to use cloud gaming services. :P
I guess this is great for games that will never run on the Deck due to sh*tty anti-cheat crap though.
thts cool , but i've already got GFN on other devices as well
The world needed to know
Is this the best steam deck and the best GeForce now? Also wash these hands.
😁😁😁👍👍👍
game streaming... 😵💫
Tells that Steam deck is getting outdated😂
99 for 6 months.... NEXT!
LOL
Major L. Not implementing their own build of chromium.
Not really a L, it's smart and saves developer hours, Helps keep cost lower. Savings ultimately gets transferred to the consumer. I don't want to be indirectly funding the developing of solutions that already exist.
Yes. Chrome offers robust features, security updates, and extensive developer tools, allowing developers to focus on their application rather than reinventing the browser wheel.
@@pedhead isn’t chrome just chromium with user://flags configured the way google wants?
@@JacoGriz isn’t chrome just chromium with user://flags configured the way google wants?
Chrome is based on the open-source Chromium project, it includes additional features, optimizations, and security enhancements tailored by Google. User://flags configurations are just one aspect of this customization. Chrome's integration with Google services, frequent updates, and support made it the preferred choice for Nvidia developers over building and maintaining their own Chromium version. 🤷♂️
I guess the counter argument would be, building a custom Chromium build allows for greater control over features, security settings, and optimizations tailored to the software's requirements.
