Here's mike with his compulsive need to reference Zelda in every video. The Rebecca Easter egg was put in the game because originally after Resident evil two Capcom began working on resident evil zero for the N64 but then it was eventually canceled and moved to the game cube hence why there are more case files relating to zero in the 64 version rather than the PS two and dream cast version
Doubt there's a relation at all, as Resident Evil 2 was developed between 1996-1997, and Resident Evil 0 didn't start development until 1999, when it was meant to be released on N64 in 2000.

This game changed my life..i played it soooo many times growing up that i know all the words in all the cut scenes lol Great pick for James and Mike Monday's for sure guys, this is fucking awesome!
You planning on playing the remake?
Scott 86 I
I remember beating both the PSX and N64 versions as a kid. I must've rented it for the 64 a dozen times. I spent so many weekend and summer nights bathed in the glow of my old CRT TV, to the soundtrack of footsteps, gunshots, and offscreen zombie moans.
@@lastofmygeneration Everything you just said. Same bro! Sooo nostalgic, The 64 version was awesome too. Played them both to death, such a great classic game!
@@ChacePlayz I did play the 1 shot demo tho and it was great, I can't wait to actually play the full game tho it's going to be unreal :o!
I can't believe I missed this episode. I never miss James & Mike Mondays. Just now seeing it after the February 4th episode.
James and Mike still know more about Resident Evil than the cast and crew of the movies.
Maybe one day James will talk about Silent Hill series! Especially I wonder what is his opinion on the movies, considering he is a horror fan.
Here's mike with his compulsive need to reference Zelda in every video. Mike, don't forget the Playstation 2 and 3 can spin the Playstation 1 discs faster to improve loading times, it's compatible with like 98% of PS1 games, they both also support texture smoothing (optional) which looks good in some games and bad in others.
James, RE 2 has an easy mode. If you want to learn the controls, go easy. RE 2 is pretty easy to play. Claire is much easier to play.
I like your profile picture and user name 😀
Claire is only easier because of her weapon/ammo management, the controls are the same...
@@lipailong2 You also get more ammo than you could ever use with Claire its stupidly easy.
Darin Staley Thirsty much?
@@lipailong2 he meant that easy mode is easy enough that you can get accoustumed to the controls without being "swarmed" from the get go by zombies like James said. Get it? 😉
This game scared me so bad when I was like 6 or 7 I tried to play it but I would freak out anytime the zombies got me or the doors opening with the heartbeat was creepy as hell
Ahhhh so THAT’s why the RE AVGN episode was so accurate! Love it!
So crazy that your next video was exactly what I was hoping. Thanks for all your hard work cinemassacre team
The Rebecca Easter egg was put in the game because originally after Resident evil two Capcom began working on resident evil zero for the N64 but then it was eventually canceled and moved to the game cube hence why there are more case files relating to zero in the 64 version rather than the PS two and dream cast version
Also to fap to.
Cute to fap to
Eh maybe but seems a bit of a stretch. Pretty sure it was just put there as a joke to make Wesker look like a perv.
@@PeacefulJoint The most fun answer is that it's both.
Doubt there's a relation at all, as Resident Evil 2 was developed between 1996-1997, and Resident Evil 0 didn't start development until 1999, when it was meant to be released on N64 in 2000.
If you didn't play the original RE's if you like horror games, you really missed out. Easily some of the best made games (give or take the controls) ever made.
Bio-plasmic Toad
I don’t know how you can claim to love horror games when you haven’t played Resident Evil or Silent Hill.
What horror games could he have possibly played?
@@CJax749 uh... who said who love horror games ? James or mike ? I do recall james love horror movies, but horror games, no. For mikr i didnot recall anything about his love for horror
The greatest game of all time.
Not anymore it's not. The remake is far superior to the original.
Not even close. It just appeals to people who have obbession with zombies in pop culture. It's just a clunky corridor shooter with prerendered backgrounds and tank controls with a few puzzles thrown in. It's culturally important to gaming and has decent lore, and it expanded the survival horror genre but that's it.
JOSHUA KANE *looks at FF7 in regard to comment* *looks at RE3 in terms of RE*
@@symbiote3220 ff6 was a far better game, with better characters, weapons, abilities, storyline, & the greatest video game villain of all time. Sephiroth is an emo punk compared to kefka. Re3 was never even a real resident evil game. Sort of like an action mod to re2, with most of the horror elements stripped.
@@VixXstazosJOB Okay what is it then? Apart from a cultural obbession with gore, zombies and b movies?
Jesus mike enough with Zelda references
bringing back memories.
the remastered is amazing, btw
*Remake they changed a large amount of the plot and none of the puzzles are the same. Even any iconic scenes from the original are drastically different from the original.
Remake is a great game but tbh not a great remake. More than half the story is removed
I remember beating this game in about a day when it came out. My favorite in the series. I love this game.
What is weirder? The fact the game never actually tells you about this secret or that the captain of the stars has this pic hidden in his desk lol 🤔
wesker likes em young
@tlessmo and a "stunning" photo to hide on consideration of a new "badass" stars member: )
Wesker be creepin lol
The jersey says "Racoon Police Department" though... So how old IS the photo?
Dont forget the second easter egg in the stars room the back to the future pic on the wall
Y'all should host more with Kieran, he's cool beans.
The REmake is a wonderful gift for all those who could not with the camera or the gameplay of the original, congratulations and total support to Capcom for this amazing tribute💜
REmake is my favorite RE game, tbh.
If you couldn't play the originals, 21 years later how is the remake a gift?
@@EQOAnostalgia Lol i know right? The controls are easy to get used to.
@@intervalgaming6196 Not really, I've constantly heard the Tank Controls and Fixed Camera mix commended for being difficult. It's often said that it emulates being in a scary situation where you forget to move and fumble a bit.
@@merces47letifer4 nope. 5 mins. max to get used to.
Always made me laugh that Wesker kept that film in his desk.
James you never played RE2? That's the most shocking thing I've ever heard.
He’s unimpressed with the PS1, it’s just the realization of the 64 being shit compared to it.
@@pppupu936 Dude, i had both system 20 years ago and i just couldnt fucking wait 1 hours loading times everytime. I was and i am a skateboarder, so we used to play tony hawk for n64 a lot more because of the loading times, the only time we picked up THPS for PS was just to see the videos. I still consider the N64 vastly superior, but the dreamcast was so much better than both. If i had to pick a winner, it would be dreamcast. Fuck off with your shitty opinions, you are like 12 year old kid.
James hasn't played Majora's Mask yet?
I would like to see James Playing Resident Evil 7 VR.
Ah yes the secret zombie is the guy James called "What an asshole"
Man let Kieran finish his talk. You guys are rude.
@Burst Your Bubble Lmao, can you even blame them for being speechless? What a dumb easter egg.
4:57 - Mr. Beans mini.
i hope they remake dino crisis, well, i hope they reimagine the franchise, thanks capcom
finally a J&M video worth watching, hasn't been one in a while for me
Bit disappointed that you guys never showed the effect of being able to shoot the screen with the shotgun and leaving bullet-holes.
Only game I can think of that had anything like that,
MattChez
I did it and there was blood. There is also a place where the arrows will stick in the camera and partially block your view.
fuck me i totally forgot about that just got an after school flash back
Thank you for mentioning this, disappointed I had to come down this far.
Kieren didn't seem to know some of the characters names(Robert Kendo and Brad Vickers), they skipped showing the licker and kieren generally doesn't seem to be the expert he claims to be. Look at his newest video for the RE Movie review and he says lickers are made with the G Virus 🤦
12:20 Lmao, that Phantom Mike laugh...
how is it that i am captivated by watching you guys play these games all the while knowing that growing up watching someone was the last thing i wanted to do... keep doing your thing guys and ill keep watching.
It's interesting that Kieran is the pro for this game, considering how strict his mom was with violent games and movies.
I can relate though...
I got an ad for the remake of resident evil 2..... best way to show an ad, thanks Capcom
Can't go wrong with Resident Evil, Metal Gear and Arkham.
With these secret costumes on,Leon hold his pistol side-way like a gangster.
My favorite game when I was a kid. Nemesis is good also. Hope they remake that also bc I'm liking what they did with RE2.
Yeah man, such a great games, as a kid them scared me a lot. My favorite is Nemesis and I hope they make the new version of it aswell.
Resident Evil is a huge part of my youth. My sisters boyfriend played it and her, me and some friends just watched as it were a horror-movie. We jumped every time when Mr. X showed up. We had a friend who tried to get through the beginning with all the zombies and his comment was; "Oh hello, now we are one million!" Great video. =D
Great to see you guys do a vid on this classic.
You gotta play RE4 one day.
Yes please!
Preferably the superior versions based on the GameCube version.
@@cax1175 Basically not the ps2 version, old PC version, or the rare mobile versions.
14:25 Claire is just standing in the room !!! that's the biggest easter egg
Calls himself a nerd.... Can't control "tank control"
seems legit...
Bc you can't be a nerd if you don't play asinine controls only a handful of games use.. right
nah he is just stupid...controlling the RE characters takes like 5 mins to get used to it.
UP goes forwards
DOWN goes backwards
Left turns left
Right turns right
THAT'S IT.
James doesn't give a shit about games and is a massive casual,he hates that he has to continue to be the character that he made up for laughs and didn't intend to revisit until it got massively popular and his best chance at success, all he cares about is shitty old movies, not that old movies are shit just James has shit taste like a lot of people who want to get into movies but end up having nothing unique or interesting to say, as we saw with his failed attempt at making an AVGN film.
This is my favorite game ever. I always get the key from Brad. When I learned about that secret, it was like a really hard mini game. And I played it over and over, and died and died.
@2:08 sounds like "Employee of the Month" to me! Glad James is paying these guys to "help" out.
You always know how to make a long UA-cam video entertain all the way through and make me not realized how fast time goes by when I watch!!
All these obscure challenges and Easter eggs are wasted on James and Mike without any context of the series and its characters 😂
I think James and Mike would enjoy Resi 4. The newer over the shoulder camera and movement is a bit more accessible for people (including myself) who didn't play the older games and adjust to the tank controls. Not to mention it isn't as bogged down in continuity and lore from the franchise as a whole as some of the other games.
I can’t believe James has little experience with this game but still has the knowledge to complement and realize the beauty of the fixed camera angles...
It's funny how board they looked watching this. That's pretty much how I feel about Zelda, Mario and Mega man though lol. Total opposite tastes.
Bet you liked Zelda, Mario and Mega Man when you was a little kid. Then you grew up and wanted to be cool, and play more mature, tough games like Resident Evil 2
indeed.
i have never ever played zelda or metroid.

@@Avrelivs_Gold You can do far worse than Nintendo.

RVINDVNCE Nintendo is sort of like the Disney of video games, aren’t they? They will always have a special part of my childhood with Super NES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and GameCube. I’m still not sure if I want to buy a Nintendo Switch though.
One of the few games from back in the day that was so much fun to watch. We'd have sleepovers and be just as entertained, scared, involved, just watching each other play.
This guy from the rental shop is awesome. More rental shop guy.
"is that Conan O'Brien?" lol :D
Thumbs up if you want a video explaining why James doesn't seems to be impressed at all
he is still impressed by 50´s 60´s movies, why not with games?
@@tyranthate movies are a very different ball park then games though, a lot of aspects of movies age better then games like you can still watch a movie from the 60's and enjoy while acknowledging primitive special effects and maybe sort of different dialogue and acting styles but with video games playing a ps1 game with terrible controls and dated mechanics is just, well, not fun
Because if it isn’t a old school side scroller or nes game he really don’t care
@tlessmo the graphics hold up better because sprite games, aka nes and snes games, are made to look like that. Early 3d games looked horrible. It's why Megaman x still looks great but ff7 and resident evil look horrible by today's standard. The RE2 remake is awesome and if they can do FF7 even half the justice with the remake Capcom did, it'll be mind blowing
@tlessmo Nes games actually hold up by design and mechanic standards for the most part though, early 3d games like PS1 games though not so much
