      What do you mean by 'stretched'? Also, during that time, did you use any other formulations or make changes to your skincare routine? I doubt that it's the cleanser alone.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 дні тому

      Yes, but it's best to use glycolic acid in the evening, ideally on alternate nights when using your retinol. However, if your retinol cream doesn't contain a high concentration of retinol, you may be able to use them together.

      @@Annie-sq2re What acne serum do you use?
      It’s still best to use your Glycolic Acid and Retinol on alternate evenings. After some time, you may be able to use them together, but this really depends on your skin’s tolerance and how frequently you use them.
      However, keep in mind that if you struggle with acne to also investigate into the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), AND especially your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, spices, milk, bread (wheat/gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому

      Yes, you can definitely do that. However, the choice of the cleanser also depends on your skin type. Do you have dry or oily skin?
      If you have dry skin, the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser shown in this video would be an ideal choice.
      On the other hand, if you have oily skin, their Foaming Cleanser would be more suitable. You can find more information about it here: ua-cam.com/video/dB4JAa7USxM/v-deo.html.

      @@shafaqnaz9001 So the other cleanser would be more suitable. However, if you are happy with the hydrating version and it causes no issues, then there is, of course, no need to change it. And yes, it leaves a light protective residue on top due to its ingredients, making the skin softer. 🙃

    Hi Melissa!! Nice and straight forward video as always 😊
    In general, I really like the formulation of Cerave's cleansers but I have some issues with their performances on my skin.
    This cleanser (the hydrating type) is gentle enouhg but I break out pretty bad using it every day.
    The foam version is too stripping and leave me with an unpleasant "squeaky-clean" feeling...
    But recently I've checked the "cream to foam" version and I'm really tempted to try it.
    What are your thoughts about this version??
    Your guidance is always so welcomed 🤍🤍🤍🤍
    Tysm🥰

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому +1

      Hey again! :)
      Well, CeraVe's Hydrating Cleanser isn't suitable for those with oilier skin types because it leaves a protective layer afterwards. If your skin isn't dry, this can potentially cause problems like breakouts. Also, it's important to make sure you properly wash it off your face, as shown in the video. Personally, I like to use a washcloth in between to ensure everything comes off the skin thoroughly.
      Do you prefer cleansers that foam or do not foam?
      In my experience, I find CeraVe's Cream to Foam Cleanser and Acne Control Cleanser to be the least enjoyable options from their range. Therefore, based on my personal experience, I wouldn't recommend them.

      I use the washcloth method since forever, but unfortunately, the residual film seems to be "too much" for my pores even with this 🤷🏻‍♀️
      Couple of months ago, I started using retinal on my face and finding the right cleanser for my skin is becoming even harder!!... So I don't mind the texture of it, just want a mild and comfortable product (but not too clogging) to relief my condition
      (I know it's almost impossible 😅😅)

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому +1

      Oh, okay. I assumed this because many people in my comment section often fail to use products correctly. The cleanser can leave a thin layer or film on the skin due to ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid. This layer doesn't necessarily cause breakouts; however, if it leads to over-cleansing or the use of harsh products, it could potentially contribute to skin irritation and breakouts. Additionally, you could react to one or more ingredients in the product, which is also something to consider.
      However, initial breakouts are normal when introducing a product to the skin. I personally experience this whenever I switch to a new product. It usually takes a few weeks for my skin to adjust, so I use them occasionally during this period, which seems to help.
      Regarding your retinal, do you use a moisturizer afterward?
      Despite many online reviews or "dermatologists" (if they really are) suggesting the use of a moisturizer to combat irritation and dryness, this method has never worked for me. No matter what moisturizers I've tried, they always seem to contribute to more breakouts when used along with a retinol/retinal or retinoid.
      I've found that reducing the frequency helps, or at least it worked well with Adapalene for me. Consequently, I concluded that either the strength of the retinoid was too high, or the frequency of application was too often. Once I adjusted these factors, the cleansers also became more effective for me.

    Hey Melissa, thanks for the video❤.
    Two weels ago I started using this cleanser and afterwards the CeraVe moisturizer (in the morning I instead use the one with sunscreen). I really like the cleanser but sadly the moisturizer burns a little bit on my skin in the beginning and itches during the day. Moreover I feel like that my skin now has far more tiny outbreaks.
    Do you have any advice for me? Should I try a different moisturizer or what might be the problem? Or should I go back to having no skincare routine at all? Because right now it feels like I am damaging my skin rather than taking care of it.
    Best regards

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому

      I believe it's the cleanser. Therefore, I'd only recommend it if your skin is extremely dry and you have a lack of oils. Otherwise, the oils and sweat can accumulate, making it difficult to clean off properly, which can lead to breakouts.
      However, it might also be a filter in the sunscreen causing sensitivity, or even a combination of both. I can't pinpoint the exact cause for you. The best advice I can give is to stop using them for a few days. Then, use them individually for a while to determine which one might be causing the issue.
      And if you figure it out, come back here and tell me. I'm very interested in what caused the problem (haha)! 🙃

      Hey! 😊
      Choose a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type. If you have dry skin, options like CeraVe's Hydrating Cleanser, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, or an oil or balm cleanser would be suitable. For oily skin, you can consider CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, or any other gel-to-foam or foaming cleanser.
      To treat your melasma, I recommend seeing a dermatologist.
      As for a moisturizer, if you have dry skin, look for a lotion or cream like those offered by CeraVe. If you have oilier skin, a gel or gel-to-cream moisturizer like The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel, or Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel would be suitable. 😊
