Halfords do a great oil filter removal tool that looks like a bearing puller but tightens as you loosen the filter without damaging it. Nice job. Making me long for one now though I’m a lifelong Zetor fan 😊
The bottom one is actually the pump suction filter. The one he pulled was the hydraulic return filter. The pump suction filter is the one that is more likely to cause trouble with low flow. You do need to pull the PTO shaft in order to get the suction filter out. I also had to bend the mounting bracket to get it out, and then bend it back after putting it back in. There suction pump feed just sits loosely in a hole in the case. It showed signs of some sealant on it - possibly wax. I used silicon caulk on mine when I put it back in. I helps to take the left side plate off to give you more working room.
Hi Andy I see the old girl has a pto have you thought about fitting an old oil pump off an old hedge trimmer to power the log splitter ?? Would increase the speed and the splitting pressure??
To get the actual suction filter and tube out, unblot the rear PTO shaft, and it will pull out the back, then pull out the PTO engauge lever, and the tube will come out easily.
Hi buddy. Where did you get your replacement backer and O ring for the piston? The Agriline parts I bought have a backer in which is 1mm to big on the OD and 1mm too big on the ID for a three inch piston. Yours looked like it fitted a treat,
PTO. Be CAREFUL when removing the PTO handle if you must! There is a ball bearing and spring that gives it detents. If you remove the arm with the PTO shaft out, the shifting fork will slide in too far, and the little ball will pop out! If it gets far forward, the only way you can get it out is with a suction line.
What you are calling the suction filter is the small "exhaust" filter from the top cover, the pump suction filter is the big one on the bottom. The Ford service manual has a good hydraulic diagram in it. Otherwise this is a great video of the assembly...
You could have used some water pipe fittings for that oil return instead of drilling a hole in the cap. The threads are the same. But you made an elegant fitting anyway.
Another thing I think if you wanted to put the tachometer into the engine drive you would have change the Tacho unit because it goes in reverse direction
That first filter is the back pressure filter pul the pto shaft out take the pinion bolt out that holds the suction filter and bend the tab forward and you can wangle the suction filter out you should have also changed the unload o ring one in the kit with white spot and changed th dowel on the positio n control cam
FORD 3000 tractors were built to last a lifetime. u only need to give them proper service and a fresh coat of paint and the machine looks new. i have one and im so used to it that i never think i will get fond of any other make of tractor. i personally do the maintainance service and i pay attention to any parts that require replacement. The secret with Ford tractors is that if you use original parts they serve you a lifetime with proper care.
Yea, mine was filthy! I put a gallon or so of diesel in there and scrubbed everything with a brush, then suctioned out what wouldn't drain, then wiped up the little bits in there with a rag.
Fixing to take the hydraulic cover off of my 1967 Ford 3000 in the next week or two. Your video was very informative for me! Thank you sir! 🚜
no smoke no poke cracking video learnt a lot about a vintage thank u for that
Excellent! - good to see this classic getting a little TLC

Great job, you can always learn from these UA-cam videos. Thanks a million
Very fine video. Now I will go and change hydraulic filter on my Fordson Super Dexta. Thanks a lot and regards from Denmark . Thorsten
top job m8 gives that 3000 a new lease of life
You can get the bottom filter out as well, i pulled the pto shaft on mine. Its been a few years since i did mine,
but i know you can do it!

@@Bytesmiths I had to do the same, great tip, I also had to pull out the PTO lever from the side.
Lovely Oscar showing an interest in what was going on. Big success with the wood cutter ram performance.
Great to see the 3000 works again, top video
Good video Andy 👍 an that return u made probably half the fords o that era had a return made pretty much the same way 👍👍
Nice one Andy .
The old Ford Dexta's main hydraulic filter was under the backend in a round sump held on by a few small studs.
another great vidio brilliant love it learned alot from this solid work.
Great to see it coming along nicely

The safety valve you showed, where does it go?
Great job, coming along nicely 👌

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! I have to replace pto clutch and need to service filters etc in my 3000.
Good video Andy 👍🏻
Great Video 👏👌🏻👍

Hello mate, I’ll watch the video to refresh my memory and I’ll get back to you 👍🏻
Nice one chap - great video 👍🏻
great stuff that return pipe will be ideal
Andy remember the flow restrictor valve under the draught control lever.
I think you can learn a lot working on some of the older machinery
what’s that lever on the left side of the tractor for ?

I have my hydraulic line blowing out on the pump and on back bottom already replaced line and fittings and no luck any idea how I can fix this problem
Nicely done mate 👍 here's to many hours of splitting!
That's the housing for the hour meter cable. Yep they love making a mess when removing the oil filter 😂😂 even more fun when there's a front loader on.
11:38 You left out installing the white vinyl or leather ring to keep the lift arm piston o-ring from rolling...
I think it might have been the rev counter cable housing?
You could have used some water pipe fittings for that oil return instead of drilling a hole in the cap. The threads are the same. But you made an elegant fitting anyway.
Great video nice job 👍 thanks
there should be a cover on the side or on the bottom of gear box to get other filter out without splitting tractor mate
Another thing I think if you wanted to put the tachometer into the engine drive you would have change the Tacho unit because it goes in reverse direction
It's coming along Andy. Have you bought it off the farm?
Robert Higgins
Cheers! No the farm are just letting me use it. The YT revenue covered the parts 👍

The spliter will work best with the arms low

How many old tractor's do you own andy? And good work mate 👍
marky boy
Thanks, I don’t own any of the farm owns them all.
@@Itsafarminglifeforme O I see shame there lovley looking tractor's you should own them you look after them very well
Is that Oscar I hear crackling away in the background.
what's that other tractor in the background?
ging 155
Massey 65
Might be worth changing the backend oil a few times to clean the crap out

Red diesel hums to high heaven as well.
The bango bolt you broke is nine sixteen jic which is peculiar to ford
That is the tachometer drive when a alternator is fitted
That is yuor cover for engine oil pump drive
