Hey Andy, the knob you keep pulling out is a diverter valve, that isolates the link arms from the auxiliary/trailer tipping service the quadrant lever is used for the auxiliary service. eg to tip a trailer run a log splitter. Put the valve in/out whichever way and the arms would work. Yes little leaver on the side is draft/position. good videos mate👍🏼
Also it will move slower on the Ford because the pump will be smaller and have less hydraulic flow than the JD. will still have enough pressure to do the job.
Good old Ford tractors. We had a good selection on the farm, 4000, 5000, 7000, 7600, 7700, also a couple of Muir hills, a 111 and a 121.I would love a shed full of them all now as all worth a small fortune and I cannot remember a single one ever breaking down.
Good video Andy 👍🏻 Happy New Year to you and your family 🙂
The pedal on the flor on the right side is diff lock, the knob that you pull in and out is a valve for the remote cilindre, the knob that you turn left and right it controls the speed of hidraulic cilinder, and the lever that goes upp and down under the seat is for ploughing it keeps the plough level.
And you can only operate the remote cilinder when 3pt lonkage is upp over the notch or all the way down.
Great little tractor!
Hi Andy that was frustrating to watch, I kept shouting at my phone what you had to do, im glad you didn't take anything else apart. I guess you know by the comments what to do now. Happy New year and keep up the good work.
The lift lever up as others have said, plus the small lever is the draught or position control for the lift arms , for ground contact or height positioning.... if you're lucky, our 2000 is very tempermental on that.
Happy new year and all the best to you and everyone on the farm and their families for 2020. Hope it's a good un. Looks like filters are the next thing to look at probably.
Exactly what all others have said raise the link arm lever which you can lock at desired height then pull knob to power spool valve on splitter
Great job 👍 as most have said it
When you pull the valve by gear sticks it changes the oil flow from arms to spool valve the arm control lever then changes from arm to pipe there should be a filter somewhere maybe change it try a big hard log see what it does if that don't work Buy a Axe 😁
First and have a great 2020 love the vid and love the tractor
Great video!! It’s was quite funny because u we’re struggling haha I’m 15 and I was laughing a bit because it was the on the left of u the whole video hahaha great videos though!!!
The push lever when you pull that out it changes the haudralic lever to like a spool lever, so it pumps the oil around and disengage the lift arms and when you push the lever in it does the opposite
Great video andy,
Hi Andy , I had exactly the same problem , the 1000 series pumps were seemed to be absolute rubbish , mine wouldn't pump as yours & was changed about 20 years ago for the later 3600 pump & external filter , from memory bolts straight on but required just slight weld alteration of pressure pipe & a new flexy suction pipe , absolutely no problem since . The old pump had a springs & a rotating disc inside I think , from memory this was a known about mod at the time . regards tim
If I remember correct the small lever at the top is draught control, the next one down that you are turning is the flow restrictor valve, for constant flow pull the valve under the seat all the way out then pull the mane lift lever all the way up mainly used for tipping trailers etc. could be the pump is on its way out.?
Happy new year go u and family andy hope 2020 is a great year for you all .
The block on top of is a lift lock it stops the loft from dropping ideal for I.e sprayer etc put lift up lock it the pressure will be good for splitter
Pushing the lever to the top changes hydraulic priority from the lift arms to the valves
When you pull the valve out you have to pull up the lever for the 3 point hitch right up so the pump comes in and then it works...i know that because i've got a 1968 2000 and thats pretty much the same
Great first video for 2020! Maybe consider a PTO driven hydraulic pump? With a small tank mounted to the splitter then your not using the limited flow and pressure off the tractor? Would take a few modifications but would be a handy splitter?
Great video
Happy new year and the lever that lever that puts the link arms up and down if you have a tipping trailer on you put the lever fully up to tip the trailer up and down to let the trailer down but if it has filters change them and if it has a screen thing clean it and try changing the whole backend oil if none of that helps you might have to put a bigger hydraluc pump on it
Have a great 2020. The leaver that you pull in and out switches it from 3 pint hitch to spool valves. When the leaver is out it is on the spool valves, the 3 point hitch leaver will adjust the flow of oil. When the leaver is down all the way there will be no flow, when the leaver is all the way up it will have maximum flow. Hope this helps and have a great year.
Im learning alot from all of you. its good we have experts on this mechanisms. personally i did not have an idea how they work.
When you lift the lever right up the pump should come in
When you pull out the button push the hydraulic lever right up to make the pump work
Now that there is some oil pressure in the return pipe try adjusting the restrictor valve while checking the oil flow at the same time, the main lift lever must be all the way up.
I have a 4000 and I believe you fill with the 3pt full up position. If you run it low try pushing some air into the fill level hole.Prime the pump abit.
being a 40 horsepower tractor of that age im guessing theres a switch to allow either the three point hitch to run when switched allows the hydraulic oil to run but cant run both the pump probabley isn't big enough to run both
What's the difference between return/flow and single/double acting. Also what does float do and on bigger tractors what are the taps for on the spools. Happy new year
Lever for 3 ph control hydraulic.. with lever down, pull out the knob on top then raise lever to top will start oil flow.. these tractors have a slow pump 7 gpm so it will be slow on a wood splitter.
it will work on bigger logs but slower will need to run fast nearly flat out. I found the same on my 135 massy which is about the same size and age
Great video and lift the hydraulic level up to the top
For the more pressure keep pulling the diverter vale then lift the link up arm up (they won't go up but the oil will run through) my 4000 is the same so any question message me on insta!
Pull out lever between legs and lift hydraulic lever to work external hydraulics.
Great video. I'm watching this closely as I have a Ford 2600. Not sure of the difference in the 3000 apart from I have wider mudguards and a fitzmier cab.
Change filters maybe, might help i know are leyland if you just put it at a high idle flys a log splitter
You should probably use a log splitter that’s powered off your pto and has a tank built on to its self, that’s that I do with my dexta as the pto is more reliable
You could buy a pump to fit the pto but would need a tank for the oil?
Filters cause a big issue, and aren't handy to access. The pump isn't the best either on them. Get a rebuild kit and give it an overhaul. I'd recommend getting one of the I&T shop manuals (£20). All 3 of mine have had to be rebuilt, but when they work they're fine
if you have to change the hydraulic oil filter you have to split the tractor to get to the filter in th bottom of the gear box because of where it is it never gets changed when we did ours it had never been done since 1976 the new one weighed 1lb the one that came out was 4.5lbs the symptoms we had was waiting for the hydraulics to prime ..they were very slow untill they came to the point where they wouldn't lift so we sent the tractor to be fully restored cause it was in a bad way
you can also in crease the hydraulic pressure relief valve its a new unit you screw in somewhere we also had that done some years age
what year model is it ?? thanks... nice video
Lifting up to the top is called constant pumping
What kind of hydronic fluid do I use for a Ford diesel 3000?
There should be another o ring on the end of the valve
Lift the hydraulic lever up to the top
Put lever yo up position to activate block spliter
should put your hi/low shifter in neutral too... so incase your little helper was to knock into gear by accident, chances are it would never happen , but if it did the extra step would save the day
1. hydraulic flow regulator is probably stuck and does not work turning the screw. 2. low hydraulic oil level. 3. as hydraulic oil get low air get into the system and is the main problem with hydraulics. in cold weather also hydraulic filter used to get clogged as water vapor freeze inside it.
Andy have a look on u tube at Ford 3000 tractor internal hydraulic repair by American tradesmen.
Lever to the top arms down and clean the filter in the back end
Oops should have watched to the end before comment but don't think it will have the power or the flow for logs but will be nice and steady for kindling
I'm not a ford man but do you not pull out button and put lever up for lift arms to get oil flow it's old school
@@BritishAgriPhotography should of watched to the end before comment I could se lever down
Robert Tweedie I watched the whole video thank
You very much and I’m sure if you where more observant you’d have noticed he did play with the link arm Lever and it did make it a bit better. 🖕🏻
British Agri Photography wow, you’re not very bright are you? He was clearly saying HE HIMSELF should have watched to the end, not YOU.....apologise now 😂
Not an expert,...... but it looked like you were getting just about enough flow for a splitter but not enough pressure behind it, which would suggest that it's the pump itself where the problem is rather than any blocked filters or other restrictions.
That’s a changes the oil from hydraulics to spaul valve
Just a tiny tip. Kill the engine before you turn off the switch. You do damage to the alternator every time the switch is off and the engine is running.
Don't keep pulling the button out on the tractor you will lock it🚜🚜
כמה שמן צריך לחלק האחורי כולל הידראלי ואיזה סוג של שמן פילטר שמן הדראלי צריך להחליף תודה
Ford 3000 3 point lift
all ways takes me ages to work out how to use mine
Those hydraulic log splitters are not the best for old tractors since hydraulic systems and pumps in tractors weren't the best back then. It would be better if you would make own PTO attachment with drill log splitter. It is really simple and very effective splitter, but it's slightly more dangerous for operator. All you need is to make own drill, and a frame to attach it to tractor's arms. Something like this: watch?v=X3Rypb1dcUE
Ford 3 cylinder enthusiasts group on Facebook should help you
Lift the hydraulic lever up
A healthy pump should stall the engine when a trailer lift ram reaches its end, if a hydraulic pipe doesn't burst first.
The saying 'little knowledge is dangerous ' applies here....😡
That was painful to watch, sweet Jesus if you think a 50 year old hydraulic system is complicated stay well away from modern systems.
I love the sound of a 3000 starting up. We used to have one on our farm until we sold everything. Farm included.
