Just a couple of things. Be generous with the oil when re-assembling, especially with bearings and shaft seals. Pack the Torrington needles as well as the Timken. If you have access to liquid nitrogen, it lessens the danger of hammering bearing cups into place. Also, try the old trick of setting the tapered bearing on a lightbulb for about 10 minutes. They usually drop right on to a lightly oiled shaft. On another note, can you supply sleeve and piston kits for the AD4-203 Perkins as was used in the MF 165? My MF industrial 30 needs a refresh.

Great Job Folks! I recently rebuilt the hydraulic system on my 8n, with parts I purchased from you, so happy with the little tractor now that the lift works properly! Good folks to do business with!!!
Great video and will be helpful to many. Just rebuilt my 3000 pump last week and would've loved this to watch first!!! Please keep up the site. Fantastic.
Wow, I was thinking I'd never see you again. Lol. I'm sure you been having fun in life. Nice to see you. Thanks for letting us know you still healthy. Continue to stay safe.
That aluminum bearing tool for driving the race of the tapered roller bearing should face the other way to center the race on the driving tool. Then it won't go in wonky and you won't use a hardened hammer face to hit the bearing race as you try to straighten it's entry. The way the video showed that tool faced was for driving seals, not races. Hope this helps. There's yer supper.
I have a model 445 ford tractor. The hydraulic pump is dry. Do you prime the hydraulic pump the same way ? Remove the plug on the bottom of the pump, pressurize the transmission, start the tractor and wait for a good flow of oil,??
Thank you, for your help with my Food 3000 tractor, it has a 3 cylinder diesel powerering it. My leak was exactly what you ddescribed. I tried to buy from your website but the kit I needed was sold out. Your videos have been so helpful to me. Do you take outside your state repairs? Can this tractor have a front lift added to it? I currently have the standard three point hitch only. Thank you again for the help!
Dan and Rachel, just found your videos. Amazing. I wonder if you (or someone else) might reply to a related question about our 1972 Ford 4000 3-cylinder gas tractor. The hydraulics work, but when it gets colder, we sometimes have to add air pressure to the axle housing (through the fill tube) to get it going. Once it is going it seems to work OK, although implements lose a little height over time, and then the hydraulic system bumps it up periodically. I have rebuilt the hydraulic pump (twice) but it has not cured the problem. I'm thinking it has something to do with perhaps a leak or hole in the suction line, allowing air to enter into the suction line, lessening the vacuum and/or losing prime. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions on how to diagnose and cure the problem?
Could you not use a speedi-sleeve on that worn shaft. I might be tempted to weld up the groove then turn it back down in the lathe before I bought a new shaft.. I've never tried this method myself yet..:)
Great video. I needed this about 5 months ago. There are at least two other videos where the gaskets were reversed and the ball cages were installed backwards. Hey there. This has nothing to do with this video but I have an issue. My 350 IH row crop tractors power steering doesn't work. I replaced hydraulic fluid and still not working. All other hydraulics work fine. So is there a clog in the lines or will I have to rebuild the power steering? I really don't know much about rebuilding a pump but I suppose I could learn. Note: the tractor sat for 20 years. Before that the power steering ran fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

My dad bought it brand new and I inherited it and he had it to the IH dealer twice trying to figure out what was wrong and they couldn't figure it out. I did discover that if I push on one of the hydraulic levers then it works good. But without doing that it turns just like manual or even maybe harder. I would be forever grateful if you had some different insight to the IH dealer and had an idea how to fix this.
Kinda need to know what power steering is on there. I can think of three different styles, and I have no doubt there are more than that out there. If yours is one of the after market flavors it is probably a separate system. So trace the lines out see where they go. My gut says yours has a separate system either leaked out, or is air locked.
