I recall the Timescape book 'Kobayashi Maru' was an attempt to provide an origin story. I much prefer you version. I look forward to seeing more of your 'historical documentaries'.

Nice work with the origin of the Kobayashi Maru and tying it to Captain Archer and crew. In this version, the event goes nearly to the very beginning, before the formation of the Federation. While it might always be seen as a 'Klingon as the adversary' event; the idea that this was a cruel trap set by the Romulans makes a lot of thematic sense. Unless an early Four Years War event were canon, it would be harder to imagine the Academy exercise being in place during Kirk's school days with the Klingons as the original antagonists.
Anyway, nice interlude and explanation of the difficulties of Star Fleet and coalition forces to protect trade. Again, the Kobayashi Maru fits right into the Romulan War, and as a checkered event in Archer's history.
Also, it's nice to see sci fi workhorses like freighters!
That was really awesome. Better story that Picard or Discovery could ever dream up. I look forward to more, and until then, tactical alert! Prepare for a Romulan attack!

The combination of the Romulan 'telecapture' system and using the Kobayashi Maru to nab the Enterprise were nice tie-ins from the Romulan War novels, even if the Kobayashi Maru is described as a retrofit Klingon cruiser in the novel. This was well-done and would easily be a dramatic event to see if it had been included in the cancelled Season 5

Till this day no one knows why the Hollywood studios and Paramount won't touch the Romulan War. In order to avoid the Romulan War, the studio simply cancelled ENTERPRISE after four seasons when it became apparent there was no way to avoid entering the Romulan War timeline.
There's a potential blockbuster Star Trek movie encompassing the Romulan War if Hollywood would take the dare. It would best be a 2 hour to 2.5 hour movie if filmed properly and adequately. A 1.5 hour movie would be totally inadequate.
Looking at the crap that Hollywood has pumped out in the last few years I wouldn’t want them to touch it, especially Kurtzman or JJ. It would a complete disaster of “subverting expectations” and all about race with other dumb crap poured into it. No, the time for it has sadly passed and while a movie would’ve been fun but if it was to be done correctly it’d have had to be atleast a season long arc given the current max of 10 episodes for every flipping show now for seasons I’d think 2 would be about the right size. Just my opinion.
The story of the Romulan War is too big for a movie - it needs to be a series. Once upon a time, Paramount commissioned a movie script called "Star Trek: the Beginning" which was a decent read but had some major logic gaps and needed some work (it is out on the internet if you search for it). In any case, they ended up going with the JJVerse concept instead.
Make of that what you will.
Had ENTERPRISE in 2005 devoted the next season to the Romulan War, we could have seen an excellent fifth season. But when it became apparent that Paramount would not be able to skip the Romulan War, the studio simply canceled the show rather than depict the one, seminal interstellar war that created the Federation and altered the fate of the Alpha Quadrant for the better.
Still, I believe a 2.25 hour movie could do justice to the Romulan War. Sure, some facets would have to be rushed or skipped altogether, but a decent job could be done.@@TheRomulanWar

Well done. I thought, though, that the KM scenario was with the Klingons
It was, as the scenerio seen Star Trek II. There's the idea that the adversaries change to 'current' potential foes and, of course, technologies in running the simulations. The actual Kobayashi Maru event MIGHT have happened in the 'Four Years War' as presented in the Alec Peters' production. But, the Klingon war that takes place in ST Disco (If you accept that series as canon) takes place AFTER Kirk's academy days. The Klingons long being the political gorilla off in the not so far distance, but apparently not going to war with the Federation until the mid 23rd Century.
So, it makes a lot of sense for the original foe to menace the Kobayashi Maru in reality to be the Romulans. I find it compelling that it was Captain Archer that had to make the call; it would explain a lot of how the event became an Academy exercise with a hero being tarnished by the event, choosing not to be a hero in this instance.
