I'm a simple man, i see Aavak video, i click like. If it's a Mech Engineer video, i also comment in hopes the series keeps going! Keep it up Aavak
Paint mister pink brown, and mister brown pink. For reasons.
Evil :D
I both love and hate this comment.
@@geoffreyentwistle8176 I am chaos.
In the research tab you can pause a research you're currently working on by clicking it and hitting the select button. All progress will be saved and it will free up the scientists to work on something else so feel free to spend as many as you can because if you reveal something you really want you can pause your 10+ day research at any time.
This will be a great help, thanks for the info!
Oh, jeez, thanks for the info!
The City might look like a tincan on legs... But its the greatest Tincan on legs!
Our City Great!
Our City Great!
Our tin can great!
Please keep uploading more of these I have been smashing the refresh and like button like crazy!!
Best playlist on this game so far.
Thank you!
Stormfather! The highstorm comes.
stormlight archive is great :)
Here's my feedback:
Our Mechs Great!
Also, I'm really enjoying this full playthrough ;)
It's +25% evasion chance, so I read that as +25% to any base evasion chance. So, if you have a 10% evasion chance, +25% would be 12.5%. Just how I read it.
Frostburn is a classic name and has my vote!
I'm pretty sure the skill uses the same wording.
@@EpsilonRosePersonal On checking, you're correct. Unfortunately, it's going to need to be scienced.
Hey, if the world is crapsack, at least some diversion while trudging through the crap is welcome! There’s a reason that submariners get the best possible food among the US armed forces considering the limited possibilities while underway. It makes a fascinating diversion to look into the importance of ice cream to the US armed forces during WW2, for example.
Yurp, same in the UK, the Navy gets the best food... because the last place you ever want to be is stuck on a big metal raft with a few dozen to a few hundred other people. And they're hangry.
Early on Consumer Goods and Food Supply will keep going up and down until you repair the city a considerable amount. If you look in the manual it will tell you that consumer goods influence food supply. You can see it as the city using the large stockpile of consumer goods (farming tools) from turn 1 to produce more food in turn 2, but since the production of new consumer goods can't quite keep up, your stockpile will go down, which means less food can be produced in turn 3 and the consumer goods stockpile can recover. This will go back and forth until your consumer goods production can keep up and/or your food production is efficient enough to not use up your stockpiles. Since it's self balancing it's tricky to point out which of the two to increase more, or even if you should focus on it at all if any of the two can get to 100% in the cycle.
Thank you very much for the info, this will certainly help me prioritise things better!
That's fascinating... I've got a mental image of guys in bespoke control chairs leading legions of farming robots, versus guys who have to make their own hoes by stealing metal pipes and chunks of hull and handing them together with rocks... That makes a great deal of sense, when I put it that way.
Since you get a free copy of all researched equipment, you could research the aquatic mech and just have one true specialist mech to anchor (lol) your lance when operating underwater.
Love the series! In terms of names for the Firestorm, I'm honestly partial to "Cryo Cremator" even if it might be a little long (i did consider "The Sultan of Sublimation" but i figured that would definitely be too long)
Haha, wonderful, but yes, a bit too long xD
I discovered yesterday that Shard-mod Missile launchers with 12 armour pen are amazing armour shredders making it easier to kill the high armour enemies, in particular the mech crunchers. I went from avoiding missions with them on to being able to fight them from Day 1. Combined with someone shooting a Slow-mod kinetic and some other damage dealer is the go to, though now you're at lasers you'll have a better time.
I highly recommend progressing through Holo even if you don't use it because it's gatekeeping the rest of the mechs, though I suppose you can delay that for a bit!
Also some tips for the upcoming mission, bring your best single target DPS weapons, especially energy weapons, and mount thick armor.
Our city-spider legs great! (I'm really grasping at straws here.)
It's appreciated xD
seeing a prophecy of doom play out over the first half of the episode as the digrig was outfitted with a weapon wholly unsuited to killing operarius and then getting absolutely swarmed with no focused support was... in a word: Stressful.
I have emerged from the deep lurk. This game and serise is fantastic!
Here's a comment for the algorithm and a like for a great playthrough!
Cheers, much appreciated :)
I'm personally rather partial to something like Cryoburn or Flashfreeze for a mech designed around both ice and fire.
As long as he doesn't name it "BING HUO MO CHU" as in "the magical chef of fire and ice" :D
totally forgot, in Path of Exile are some good names for that combo: Heatshiver and Frostburn
I think researching the Holo could be a good idea. The description doesn't mention auxiliary or motor slots so it could potentially be a replacement for the Dig Rig, a good general mech, or it could even be better than the Plate. Also for underwater missions I think fitting the mechs with the Needler, Underwater Combat, and Torpedo modules is enough and a full lance of Holos would be overkill.
I don’t have the game, but I could see a point in having 1 Holo mech optimized for underwater combat, because your other mechs are never going to be as good underwater as they are on land, and so having 1 water specialist would help make up the difference. Also, presumably the Holo would still be a decent mech above water
You did a city check your new loot. The others gave you lots of loot. Great Job otherwise so far Aavak!
Shotgun laser was great to see in action. Keen on the rockets too.
Love the series!
I picked a game about week ago, struggled with default mechs (in-game manual "lied" that miniguns are bad against Aries, so I tried to rocket them, it went as good as you may have expected), read some guides, struggled harder (they said drills are garbage and one should use fire-ammo minigun), then saw your LP and had BLAST with trying new combos. You should try rushing those circles on world map (I had spawn with 3 of those adjecent to my city, so on day 2 I was playing sandbox mode basically), green one have a lot of good early game stuff.
I really wish this game had a wiki.
Thanks for the tip! Glad you're enjoying the game so far :)
the city getting 0.50% damaged each turn really makes me nervous
so Aavak, the big missile, if you want to see some commical fun, shotgun mod, max damage. trust me, you will love the results almost as much as tea
Can confirm. Just set MINIMUM range to be at least 2x explosion size and keep it offline in tight corridors. It one shots resource carriers.
I'm imagining The Multiball from Heat Signature. With a single squeeze of the trigger the assassination target is dead, every guard is dead, the pilot is dead, and I'm also dead. good times.
Hey Aavak, the left 4 on the world map (3 down, 1 left from the city) must be a nest. The 2 in its top right corner must see 2 nests in it's bottom 3 tiles and one nest must be out side the range of the other 2 thus the 4 is a nest. Hope that was clear, and am loving this series!
Thanks for the tip!
Suggestion: Name one of your mechs "Wrex".
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the shotgun laser becomes a common secondary weapon for your mechs. A short ranged weapon that takes no ammunition and can keep firing while the primary weapon or weapons reload. That's one way to keep the swarm off.
I think it would be a good idea to re-outfit the shell cracker into another digrig? or at least into a melee/close range mech that can melt through armor(shells) for the team, this would clear you up to take 2 spears into tight quarters and eventually when you get new melee weapons you can perhaps turn it into something else? (also if you do this shell cracker should have a paintjob that references hollow knight since they really like shells in that game)
I really like the idea of the Hollow Knight theme!
Best series out there on Mech Engineer. Thank you for your work!
Still watching right now and seeing around 30 weight free (oh, why the coating, why?) on the Dig Rig for me would be a reason to design second gun for the mech. Diversifying the types of damage mech can deal is a nice way to go. Specialization, on the other hand, sometimes could be better. Nevertheless, your Dig Rig right now has three main enemies - operari, ares and fragellum. Dig Rig can counter fragellum with the drill, it also can counter ares with the laser, and you can maybe put a mini-gun to counter the waves of operari.
Hoping you would and will proceed with the game! Thanks!
Feeding the UA-cam machine spirits.
Here is my engagement comment because boy do I hope to se this run finished.
If you're going to stick with the "Storm" naming scheme for the plate-type mechs, naming one "Storm Lord" and giving it the blue and white of Legio Tempestus would certainly bring the grace of the omnissiah! "Last of the first!"
Absolutely loving the series, eagerly waiting for more. Frostburn is a great name for a mech, IMO.
There just isn't enough info to figure out for sure which tile in the row with the 4s is safe, but every unidentified tile in the row above that is safe. If you explore the special point of interest and the tile to the right of that, that should give enough info to start figuring out the row with the 4s in it.
Love the series, it's a blessing everything I see a new video uploaded
I think the most fearsome enemy you'll face later on is the long bug one, I had an encounter with it in labyrinth and it's terrifying
from what i know about evasion it only works for melee you can always evade attacks it works with the mech evasion, the pilot skill and something else i dont really remember, tbh if bugs arent reaching you, you wont need it but for mechs that will get closer to combat it works pretty good
Cheers for the info!
Excellent work on the Firestorm's paintjob!
Thank you :D
I love 5his series so much. I can't wait for clash with the giants
26:15 funny you should say this, if you hover over the Max Outside Temp it will say "it is recommended to be one and half times mission environment temperature"
LOL I hadn't noticed, but glad the numbers seem to line up with my expectation!
23:35 I saw that. I was just in the process of debating whether I should comment on it now or wait till the end of the episode, nearly made a fool out of me!
Finally decided to get the game myself, I was put off of it at first just by reviews but then I remembered I played System Shock classic and beat the game why would I care about not knowing what im doing and watching Aavak made it easier since I learnt several things thanks to this series and reading the comments.
So glad you decided to give the game a chance :D
TEEEEEN-HUT
ive just caught up with this series and i am. quite invested
I'm very much enjoying this series
I didn't comment the last couple vids, but I'm glad that at least part of my suggestion worked out.
If only for a short while before the weapons became obsolete.
As far as a name for the Firestorm, wouldn't a better name for incorporating the slow effect be Slowburn or Slowcooker? If you go with Slowcooker you can also paint it like a crockpot
I hope you realise just how lucky you got with the initial movement of the enemy giants - they haven’t messed up the earth much at all which is going to slow down the enemy escalation into horrendous lategame quite a lot since they’re just sitting in one spot!
Yup, we were super lucky, I think I mentioned that a little early on. But yeah, having the red spawn so close to the gold basically put them to sleep after the first few turns.
Freezer burn!
Aavak I started this video and, i didn't think you didn't know this, if you click the different icons on the engineering mech panel, armor, Power, Weight brings up different stats on the display on the right.
A wide selection of mechs are a good thing, since there's no limit on the number you can have.
Our Mech Engineer Great!
I've been binging these and I keep thinking it could be worth changing the big cannons to have more fire rate over more pen and damage. My reasoning is if you are already having over 10 extra pentation then your only looking for more damage with increasing that stat, and if that's the case DPS is a more important measurement than per shot damage.
My point being, you will probably do more damage on the brutus and hives with a higher fire-rate cannon than a higher power cannon. And it would also be better at supporting fire against the weaker enemies. I don't think it would take too many engineers to switch the stats back later.
Loving this series Thank you for showing off this game!
The issue with that is that the bleed of energy from a ballistic weapon is so aggressive at long range, the velocity and penetration power drop so much that we need to over pen so that the projectile can still be useful at long range (the job of the 120mm)
@@Aavak fair i think the extra dps is worth it on everything but the toughest enemies but nothing wrong with being safe!
Loving the series and the game myself! I just got to at least try and learn how to paint mechs as good as Aavak 😅
Mechs go boom, Aavak loves boom
Loving this series
Thanks :D
I'm really enjoying this playing game myself! Once I got the rocket research done used it immediately with critical strikes and the explosion is HUGE! And of course that lead to what would have been a damage less mission into a near loss when one of the missiles hit a nearby bit of turf and detonated on the whole crew!
Yikes!! With critical too? How much damage did it end up doing to everyone, if you don't mind me asking?
I rarely comment on videos. However, mech engineer is very very very important.
Finished the video, can't wait for the next one!!
I've been playing this playlist in the background so haven't been watching besides the occasional glancing. Just looked cause was curious on how laser mech did and I see that you have SIX MECHS in an early game mission, which confused me so I rewind, and now see that you're setting priority targets for mechs. Both are things I didn't even know you can do, I've just been rolling with four the whole time and manually selecting. 😂
I literally did not see that knob when placing mechs so thought four was the limit. I've cleared most of North America with that too (after a restart as didn't know giant would insta kill city) so I don't know that makes me good or not
Haha, yeah, it changes the game in a big way to take larger groups!
Loving this series.
Mmm? A mech of ice and fire? Dracarys.
In battletech a group of 5 mechs is called a star. However, calling it a pike seems a bit more in keeping with the theme if you’re going to call a group of 3 mechs a spear. A
Also, I’d love to see you paint up one of your mechs with a shark face like an old p51, though I don’t know if the painting tools in this game are good enough to do that
Haha, that would be cool but might be a bit of an ask XD
Well, I'm very glad to find this series, because Mech Engineer has been spankin' my butt. Thank you.
Hope my videos are helpful somehow :)
Best series on YT.
Very kind of you to say :D
O my another one this is so exciting!!!
yesss comment for the algorithm and for aavak thank you for the videos
And thank you for the comment :D
!!! Wyt ti'n siarad cymraeg Aavak???
Also am absolutely loving this series!!!! Please keep it going!! ❤❤❤
Cymraeg yw fy mamiaith :)
And I'm very glad you're enjoying the series ;)
Woooh, new episode!
Just for the algorithm and the serie
I'm loving the series
Cheers :D
ooooo I did not know you were playing this game :D time to binge some mech engineer while my drives format
Enjoy! Hope the drives format smoothly (and you didn't forget anything important XD)
Hey just finished the previous episode lucky me 😊
Not much to say today, other than keep em' coming!
i apparently suck at the nest sweeper- given i was playing the demo earlier but i ended up finding a nest on my second mission out- talk about orinic luck
1:08:09 "I dont see anything" and I saw 3 things you could research.
i wonder what happens when you leave the planet, there is so much potential with this game and the foundation this game/engine lays for any further games in this line of thought
Agreed!
Im not certain but it looks like the arty might be capped at 10. 13 days and its only been fired twice now iirc. Also the dropping of the energy shields on several of the mechs is a mistake imho. Most of the damage you take seems to be from the Columbras and being too indecisive around them. Even with the slow, you really should keep moving counter clockwise a bit to put distance between you and it's detection bubble, as several instances of major damage were from it unfreezing mometarily due to a reload or dps going elsewhere. The TTK on the mechs seems quite low, so I'm kinda surprised we haven't lost anyone yet.
I haven't seen anything in the manual to indicate arty is capped at 10, but that could easily be the case, I'll keep a closer eye on it!
You should have a slow laser in every mission because they never reload. Two would be even better to control more than one enemy when needed.
I was thinking Cold Fusion instead of Freeze Burn but I like the paint either way
I'm a week late but the fire/ice mech should be Hailfire
I'm on day 55, and FYI, the game gets a lot harder, but some of the researchable weapons can get stupidly powerful. The stupidly difficulty increase is balanced out by the new weapons, BUT make sure you go for the new weapons and the nuclear reactor(after the nuke missile) early, or you may difficulty lock yourself(which is a poor design choice imo). Also, get that processor research early, but after reactor research, cuz it's gonna change EVERY design you have, it's pretty great.
You tend to comb over the details before missions, so you should be okay. But you really should get that upper factory up ASAP. It's gonna matter, a lot.
Also, I like your paint jobs. The painting system is pretty crap, especially the color picking, so kudos on making good looking mechs with the meager coloring capability.
P.S. The HOLO frog mech is pretty worthless, but necessary to get to the other mech designs. Don't make the mistake of building any, they're worthless and very expensive to build.
Thanks for all the tips!
I like FreezerBurn
Does the fact that mechs with high stability can pull ones with poor stability mean that you can essentially make an engineering mech? Like an engineering vehicle - something that's only lightly armed, extremely heavily admitted, designed to drag vehicles out of hostile combat zones? Intriguing!
Hmm, that seems like it could be a possibility!
FreezerBurn.
This. Very good
i like 'firestorm'. no thanks on the 'freezeburn'. would accept something like 'slow burn'.
the Tesla is clearly just a PPC
I still find a lot of the interface bad but the game is so fascinating. Let's stomp some bugs.
How much worse than a Plate would a Holo be on the surface? If it wouldn’t be too bad might be worth having one or two just to expand your options, a bit like how Digrig is specialised for underground but can work on other maps.
Fair, we'll have to see how the Holo compares, one of the big things about the plate is 6 motor and 6 aux slots. Gives us a LOT of tactical flexibility!
Good Morning
Tundrablaze. Like tundra, but ablaze. That's all I got.
To advance the nomenclature around Spear, Lance, ? (small, medium, large). For a lance larger than 4 you could call it a pike because a pike is longer than a lance =)
On a separate note, I've been told by my local battletexpert that a lance of five can be called a star. Although I've been told this is for a specific set of factions called the clans. So not sure if it is applicable.
On the map the top right 2 the nest has to be bottom right.
Amazing series. Can I ask a question? Why Mr. Brown and Mr. Pink are not painted with the colors of their names yet? ;) hahahah Please, don't stop this serie.
Fancy game
I'd go with Frostfire rather than Freezeburn
Love this suggestion!
The shotgun mod looks like it shoots slower.
2:38 oh my mech can evade stuff without me being able to... is that what you thought?
Can I see you defeat a base once you are able to? I am curious.
I doubt bases are worth attacking on purpose. I think they are only obstacles that you only want to attack if you have no choices. It still would be interesting to see though!
Sure :)
@@Aavak thanks!😊
