- I thrifted my way up the Northeast coast from the Hudson Valley, NY to Maine and stopped at some amazing thrift stores along the way! Solo roadtrips can feel really long sometimes, so breaking up the drive with a thrift stop in each state was fun! Plus, summer roadtrips are always more fun with your chihuahua ; )
I'm always looking for some fun boho items for my cottage. My goal was to find at least one thrifted treasure ... but I ended up finding three!

I know you have had a lot of ups and downs and I'm afraid that just comes with life unfortunately. I am 71 and I have never travelled. People say they feel sorry for me, I just smile and tell them I've had a wonderful life, which to me I have. I've been thankful, like you, for the beauty I've found in nature. Swimming under the moon with the loons, you are living my dream. There is nothing more beautiful than the sound of the loons. And what a great trip. Every time I go to a store now I always think about what you say that if you bring something in then something has to go out. It has keep me from just buying something for the purpose of buying.

Hi, I just love love love your videos. They are so amazing. One thing I always realize when I watch your videos is that you just need to be happy with yourself and thats true treasure. Happiness comes from within and you dont need anyone to be happy. Its such a pleasure and so calm to watch your videos. I love binge watching them whenever I am sad or anxious or need some quiet time. I love how realistic you are and there is no drama. I find that you are a very sweet person. Being a west coast dweller, it was so fun to see the “other side,” and one of these days I hope to get all the way over there. So many states in 6 hours! And the thrifting! I had a very stressful year one year and took my daughter to a very popular tourist town. We stayed in a cabin - no cell service, no Internet, and - no people. We were the only ones booked in the whole place for the days we were there. We were totally catered to, and it was amazingly peaceful and quiet and just what we needed. I did the same thing you did and asked whether there was something wrong, and there wasn't. They had been booked solid before we got there were booked solid the day after we left. I believe that there are times when powers beyond us give us just what we need just when we need it. What a lovely road trip for you and Charlie! Sending much love your way. 💖

Your photography is so outstanding, Kate! I’m recovering from foot surgery and watching your video helps me just feel more connected to nature since right now I’m sort of connected to my bed. Also, my corgi is staying with my friend right now because I can’t walk him yet. So it’s pretty lonely around here. You and Charlie together are just adorable. He’s a very lucky pup and you are, too, to have such a sweet boy.

I can not even express how much I love New England.. all of it. My first trip was April 1997 during my 50th birthday. Got snowed in for 3 days in Vermont...no flights out due to a spring storm. My last trip was 2015-2016...I was turning 69 in the spring of 2016 so beginning my 70th year. An 8 month road trip from home here in So. CA. My best trip, magical, & longest stay. Been 5 times and always wanted to move there but way too far from family and Grands. I have a favorite thrift store in York, Maine. Very funky. I only discovered it by meeting the owner one rainy December night at the Front Porch Piano Bar/Restaurant in Oqunquit. My daughter recently had her first trip to Boston & RI...girls trip to visit their friend. Were there around 10 days and loved it. They all met at Bible college when were ages 19-20. Now early 50's. 😊

Oh you were in my neck of the woods!! I live in between Hartford and Sturbridge Ma. My husband grew up in Sturbridge. Then you were in Southbridge Ma and your GPS said Marcy St and I was like”she is driving in my old neighborhood when I was first married!” Thank you so much for sharing your road trip!! Love all your videos, and enjoyed watching each one of them, but this by far was so interesting to me as I love road-trips. I love stopping by small, quaint towns and best of all go into local thrift and vintage shops ! And of course to see you’ve reached your family’s cottage and have that quiet , relaxing getaway reminded me of the road-trip I did across Canada and spent my nights camping by various lakes that I come across. Because I only go out of my rural home, to walk my rescue greyhound Madge, due to my severe anxiety, I live my life through watching folk like you on You Tube, which brings me so much joy. Oh my goodness, you took me home on this video. 😢 I miss Maine so much. My brother has a camp up in Oakland (near Waterville) that looks so similar to where you were. We lived in Gorham and then we moved to Portland. My parents divorced in 1971 and my mom went back to Tennessee. I spent summers in Maine with my dad. Those summers were some of the best times of my life. What a treat to see your vlog today!! Thank you!

Hello from England I really enjoyed this trip around the smaller states so peaceful the beaches well managed, here in England we have the same rules no dogs during Summer season and in Winter only early morning or evening walks, of course not all beaches only the main holiday resorts. The moonlit bathing and the sounds of the wild could have been any century that at least is untouched by progress , moonlight bathing in the ocean or the woodland is like taking a step back in time. Peaceful and natural .Your shopping trip too was a peaceful experience . I particularly get interested to see the prices and layout of the stores, I'm a devoted thrift shop( charity shopper) for many years only way to shop for me, upcycling isn't new it's just got trendy. Before Charity stores it was junk shops .. old adage one mans junk is another mans treasure still applies but it's now mostly women shop thrift. The layouts are pretty much the same here , prices vary depending on store. Most of all I thank you for this lovely road trip adventure and seeing the beautiful parts of America.
