  • Hello and welcome, thanks for visiting Rider Guider here on UA-cam
    I'm Neil, the proud owner of a fast evolving 2020 Yamaha #T7 #Tenere #tenere700
    One of the things I've added to my #yamahatenere700 is a full exhaust system.
    CLICK HERE • YAMAHA TENERE 700 FULL... (if you haven't seen it).
    To get the best from the system and to ensure my engine was being fueled correctly I decided to take it for a #dynotest and an #ecuflash . I took it to a local (ish) motorcycle tuner, Neville Lush Racing www.nevillelushracing.com/ who gave it the works.
    In this video I explain the gains we have made, Neville by doing the actual tune and me by paying for it :-) ... By using the BHP & torque graphs I show how I interpret them and use that new knowledge to help me get the best from the tune when actually in the saddle riding the bike. I then do exactly that in real time by taking you all on a ride, on bitumen and a trail, with (to me) a surprising result, a decent improvement in the throttle smoothness.
    Here are some chapters:
    00:00 intro to Wakefield Road
    00:38 How and why I decided to get the T7 tuned to suit the exhaust system
    02:29 Explanation and interpretation of my Dyno graph
    07:02 Through a tunnel at full chat haha
    07:19 Through the gears on a road revving up to 7000rpm
    08:19 My change of opinion on the Tenere 700 snatchy throttle 'myth'.
    09:40 Peel Road (off road track) 3rd gear to the top, no clutch feathering whatsoever! Who knew?
    THANKS for watching
    Neil

    Took mine to a well known tuning company to see what could be done to increase the power and torque, after having a good look over the bike he said they could increase power by 7% and torque by a whopping 25%. He then told me there was no need to pre-book and they could do it right away and it would be absolutely free! I was completely overjoyed.....until he handed me a diet sheet! Thank you! 👍🤣🤣🤣

    Awesome. I rode my 2021 Tenere for two seasons before changing a lot of the stock items this winter. For me it was good to learn the bike, then upgrade to what I wanted to change…from watching your channel I think you’ve taken a similar approach. I have the same Camel Enduro Bend exhaust with the Scorpion slip on, love the look and sound of it. I’m considering the Akrapovic header, so good to see the dyno results. I also have the funnel web filter and pre filter that I’ll soon be swapping with the Unifilter. I removed the center stand as well, but left the brackets on as it’s great to throw back on for wintertime maintenance. Upgraded to Touratech suspension this winter as well as swapped out the the stock bars for protaper steering damper low bars and Rottweiler mirrors.

      Michael ... we're on the same path for sure!!! I've been researching the graph results against a standard T7 and because of my rear tyre I'm pretty similar, but the bike definitely feels much improved. I'm disregarding the peak figures pretty much, that soft old knobbly rear is sucking the energy. Or it is at least on paper. It rides amazing. I've been looking at Rotti mirrors too, purely just to get a slicker more enduro look when I fold them in haha! Plus black bars. Stealthy! This list of tweaks isn't getting much shorter 😄 ... cheers mate. Neil.

    i made 70 bhp with 51 torque . arrow titanium headers and akropovic end can with D&A filter .. honestly the best thing you can do is get use to it then ride a standard bike .. i did this last week on a ride out with my friend who has a WR tenere that is as yamaha made it and the difference in power is noticeable

      @TheRiderGuider  Рік тому

      YEH I'll bet a standard bike would be odd after that increase for sure. I can't see myself on a WR. I just love my current T7 too much to let it go haha.

      Been doing some research on this, seems on paper I'm not much different to a standard T7, however there are a couple of things to consider, the rear tyre I already mentioned in the video (was a knackered knobbly) I think it has negatively affected the graph result, but not the riding result. My thinking is the actual graph shape is pretty accurate but peak torque and bhp reading I think are maybe a touch low to what they would be if I took it back with a smoother tyre. As stated in the video, my main aim was to get the fueling and air correct to ensure I wasn't lean, and having now used the bike a bit more it is definitely a decent improvement in how it performs. Martin you'll have to have a go on it mate! I'd be very interested in your opinion.

    Can recommend Hoey Racing in Pooraka for suspension work. I got mine revalved and resprung at both ends and it was a different bike.

    Did the tune improve the snatchy throttle response at 2000 - 3000rpm in first and second gears? I just rode SkyTrek and by the end of it I was getting tired and the jerky throttle response was really pissing me off. On the way home I was thinking about this video and what benefit a tune would bring. I don't need more power or torque but I would like to improve rideability offroad and ensure reliability.

      Hi Luke, thought I'd replied to this already, apologies for late response! I was of the opinion the snatchy throttle was a myth as I'm a heavy clutch user, but it definitely improved it just off the throttle. How was SkyTrek on the T7? I'm interested in tackling that! Willow Springs is an epic area.

      @@TheRiderGuider Thanks. SkyTrek was good fun even though it was hot. I didn't do the hard part at the end as I was riding solo. The track was in good condition but it still rattled a bolt out. Parts of it are remote and you need to stay focussed. Would recommend.

    Does a full system further lean out the mixture, since bike is already quite ECO lean tuned.

      Dunno exactly, led to believe it does but I didn’t see or ask for any evidence but it benefits from a tune. I had a ‘flash’ and dyno run. It is very nice now. Not much increase in top end power but where it counts it is better (low down in the rev range) with increased torque.

    Is a ECU tune necessary with a new full exhaust system?

    • @TheRiderGuider
      @TheRiderGuider  6 місяців тому

      Mine is better for it, much more torque lower down the rev range. Very little increase top end. Yamaha dealer said they have a 'learning' ECU however from what I've researched it is better to have it done as it can still run lean higher up the rev range.

      Haha Carl, yes I used to live in Bradford and the A650 out of Bradford is called Wakefield Road, a well travelled route by all the locals. This one is not that one, it's south of Adelaide in South Australia.
