So glad you posted this. Honestly don’t think this is a tune issue.. my 92 octane tune on Pure 800 is about 460 475 wheel so seems about right and I have a top tuner. I honestly expected higher myself when I first got the turbo on pump tune but learned it really needs ethanol or meth to bring out the big numbers (sucks, I know)
Very true, these motors really respond to higher octane fuel.
Joseph D'Arco Yes exactly, throw in some E50 and you can get around 600 WHP. Pretty big difference if you ask me from pump gas, and the turbo is capable of way more.

Something doesn’t add up. You should be able to hit mid 500s pretty safely on stock HPFP. Let alone the TU pump.
ReAveRzz ReAveRzz See that’s also what I was told by Pure also that I should make around 530-550 wheel on 92 too so I expected way more. But after hours of reading on the forums seems like other people are needing E50 to get around 600 wheel. I’ve also tried pushing it more with my tuner but I’m getting bad timing corrections so this is about my limit. My thesis is maybe they used a M240 engine or a stronger out of box B58 to get those numbers, though they said it would be same for regular 340i and still wouldn’t describe the big discrepancy with the numbers.
@@iloveboost1014 I think it comes down to different conditions & different dynons.
Its important to remember that dyno's are subjective. Every dyno reads differently. Go dyno it at another shop and see if the numbers match up. Also keep in mind that this is on 93oct. Shoup said he doesnt push cars on 93oct since he has to account for low detonation resistance, bad gas at the pump, etc . The car makes what a nearly maxed stock turbo car does on E50 but this car is on pump gas. Thats what it should make. Dont blame the tuner. Just put it on ethanol so he can wake it up.
I made a little over 550whp on pump alone, could have made more but we wanted to keep it safe. I totally get what you mean and this dyno reads pretty accurately so I’m not really knocking the dyno numbers. It’s just that when it comes to this turbo, higher numbers on 93pump gas have been observed.
@@NoClutchGarage On the same dyno, on the same day, with the same DA, with the same temperature, with the same car, with the same turbo, with the same boost? Every car and situation is different. :)
Could the car could definitely make more... sure. With more boost. But why, the owner travels and puts a ton of mileage on this car for his job. It has to be conservative because he uses it to travel all over the US. Not all of tuning is about peak power. You have to take longevity and the needs of the client into account.
I understand what you’re saying completely, but even the client was underwhelmed. Better conditions could have yielded better results I get that but generally the deviation isn’t that great. Hell, my car was consistently giving me 550+\- 10hp on any given day in 2 different dynos. I’m not arguing against your argument. If the client isn’t satisfied that’s also subjective and being that it has been proven time and time again that these turbos can make good power on 93 alone it is understandable why the client may be upset. In any case, I’m just delivering content based on a real world scenario and that’s the best I can do. This is not my car, if it was, I wouldn’t be having this issue in the first place.
@@NoClutchGarage I spoke with Shoup about this and he showed me text messages from the owner of the car saying he was happy with the car and that it pulled z06 vettes.

Got my 240i tuned bm3 with stage1 HPFP pump gas at pure in belguim 435whp and 679wtrq. Upping the turbo next year.

that's some insane power coming out of the new 3 series.... just wish they weren't so big and weighed so much. what year is this 340i? can the AWD model make just as much power?
My car made 550awhp just on 93 octane alone. It made 600awhp in e50 on a stick fuel system, when it comes back it will be making more than that.
Looks good for 93.. those B58 are monsters! Don’t take much to get them pushing HP.

Could it be the stg2 hpfp? I've seen great results with the toyota supra pump made by bosch. Not sure about these other companies. Or could it be the electronic wastegate?
No, I think different cars respond to tubes differently. In any case these cars love octane, so I’m sure an ethanol tune will wake this puppy right up!
He needs to put e85 and what pump is he on ?
I am not a pro in this, but from my personal experiences with tuners for my previous cars; this Tuner needs to start growing some cojones and turn up that boost.
I am a fan of remote tuning but in this instance, it would have been best to allow the shop to tune in-house.
Why? The car is on 93oct. With each lb of boost you increase heat in the cylinder and increase the chance of knock/detonation. Theres no sense in turning the boost up on 93oct when the car has enough fuel pump to run ethanol
Is that 340 completely stock with the exception of the Pure turbos?
Catless Downpipe, Dorch Stage 2 HPFP, and turbo that’s it

Go with MHD , catless DP on stage 2 93 octane and you’ll make about 400 WHP. 470HP.

So no downpipe either? I'm disappointed TBH 2500 for Pure 800, 1700 Dorch St2, Plus instal and custom tune thats easily upwards of 6k for about 50 hp gain. tough pill to swallow i hope there able to squeeze more power otherwise ill be going a different route.
It’s a tuning issue, Pure 800 is capable of more, I’m witness to it, this is just what happened with this particular car, I like to keep it as real as I can!

Dorch Stage 2... there were issues with the dyno we just found out about so the power is reading low but the butt dyno tells a different story...

Mate I have the same car and wheels, 275 rears and they rub, so do the 245 fronts (both rub when it dips a bit in roads etc).
Does your rub and if not what is the setup please? I have stock m suspension. Thanks
