I just wanted to clarify that the vase is actually Austrian and not French. In the video, I said that the vase was French. Sorry if this caused any confusion! Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Idk....I always said I would not buy from an antique store because I wanted my finds in the wild but I am seeing I can step up my game by soooo many beautiful things all in one spot....just as my store often sold things at a steal to keep it moving....
I know others have commented on putting a blanket in your shopping cart to lay your fragiles on. How about putting a rubber shelf liner? After, you could use it to wrap something for the ride home.
OMG the Austrian vase was PHENOMENAL!!! That reaction is why we all love to thrift. We are all chasing that rare find!! Don't put the bird away :) We don't mind him talking.
Since you mentioned polishing metal, I thought I'd make sure you know about Maas metal polish. I love it! I've polished aluminum, pewter, silver, copper, brass, iron, plastic, and mother of pearl with it.
The vase is a fine example of my theory that an expert repair on most pieces is ok for ordinary collectors. There is quite a lot to enjoy before you see the repair. Especially if it is displayed slightly above eye level. Wonderful find. If the vase were glass then it would likely be a very different story.
I had an entire silver plate coffee pot set with tray, sugar creamer the whole nine yards that was really tarnished. This lady wanted to buy it for $30 in my area, local drop off. My boyfriend decides to polish it and make it nice for her. He does an excellent job and the thing is spotless. Take it to her and she was completely crest fallen that we'd polished it. She had wanted it because it was tarnished. Ever since I just stay clear of silver plate entirely. lol
12 hours late but the beauty of UA-cam is I can and do watch and re watch..I have never been a fan of animal finds but seeing you so excited I have a new appreciation for it as well as all the stitchery you got the other day..see I have gone back wayyyy back and watch all your content 💟Oh snap!I need that rolling pin😱🙃😊
I just ran across this video. I'm enjoying it very much. I want to learn about dolls. I found a very interesting clown doll at the thrift store last week and a glass clown decanter
When I'm drifting I grab a piece of thick clothing , like a sweater or coat , put it on the bottom of my cart .then I place my dishes and glass on it . This stops the items from clanging around the bottom of the cart and breaking or chipping . When I get to the cash unjust tell them that I no longer want the clothing item .
That’s my old jewelry cabinet! Awe! I had the giraffe. Both turkeys my mom had on our table growing up in the 70’-80’s. I had the little brown vase you picked up too. The deer tin picture you picked up, they may have come in a set...of 3?!? I loved this adventure! Thanks.
Loved the way that you swiped that green bowl up off the shelf with such energy 😂 received my banana antiques t-shirt today!! All the way to York UK! love it!! 😍
CLL.. a tip. Go to blanket section if there is one and get a blanket to put on the bottom of your cart to cushion precious things like the vase. Just leave it after... or bring in your own.
Love it all! I collect holiday decorations. So I really look at blow molds, and 1940s to 1970s stuff. I have a turkey collection, pottery and honeycomb paper. I kept wanting you to pick up the possibly Longaberger baskets though! All are signed and dated and tend to be worth resale. Very light to ship too.
That's the Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine. I grew up going to York Beach all the time. So at least once a year, usually more, I've seen that Lighthouse.
Thank you for mentioning Longaberger baskets! I have been hanging onto all of mine for years and years. I love them and they seem to go w any decor. Maybe they'll be worth something some day.
I love an eclectic look. If there's a really beautiful jug I want it. I'm not bothered about sets. The more beautiful things for my eyeballs the better.
I wonder if that old Raggedy Ann had been torn open to find her candy heart. Kids used to do that, because, in the book, she had a candy heart. I don't know if any that were sold actually ever had candy hearts, though.
Congratulations on finding that beautiful vase. You will do well with it!! So glad that you like and use the ceramic Turkey. I made many of those back in my ceramics days. Gifted to relatives. Love mine. Looks like the small one that you bought. Thanks Jocelyn!!❤
Yes, Fire and Light was made here locally. It skyrocketed in price since they closed. I sold two glasses on Ebay for over $600 and a vase for over $700. Once in awhile you'll come across people who don't know what it's worth and recently I made $2000 off of a $500 purchase. Im holding onto the rest of my pieces for now especially since some are sentimental gifts. Some of it is signed, but not all. There's a FB group if you wasnt to learn more.
To clean silver or silver plate, pewter, and such except for brass, use Tarn-x, silver cream, Barkeeper's friend. No need to use messy food products when there are perfectly safe and readily available cleansers meant for the items you want to clean. There is also Silvo and Brasso, and the trick with metal foil and baking soda plus hot water.
Very anxious to see how much the beautiful vase was I’m new at trying to find beautiful pieces as I go thrifting I have been learning so much from your knowledge on all the different findings you come across
Great finds glad he let you know there were fresh carts! I caught your WhatNot sale last night, it was fun seei no everything! I was in the last group and was part of the Raid, that lady was flabbergasted to say the least when over 800 people joined her sale telling her Happy Birthday lol.
I love your comments. I am a thrift shopper too, and sometimes you and I say the same things at the same time. Except,! your on video, and I of course, am watching it. I sometimes may say, Hey wait, go back. 🤗
I notice that you miss a lot of stuff that looks like Bordallo Pinheiro. It's highly collectable Portuguese pottery. You could even sell the contemporary pieces well. The older ones, pre-1950s, is very valuable.
🦋I would love to hear Astrid, rather than loud people or children screaming. I like the pieces you chose. I made those Turkey’s you bought, and still have them. The acorn is nice. I have old baskets not Longaberger. I don’t like them. It’s so nice to see you excited about the vase. Hi! Parrot. You’re so lucky to have pets. I can’t have any.
The Old Mill Stream print reminded me of my grandma, who had several of that series on her walls when I was a child about 50 years ago. And I think she had had them up for quite some time. :)
Oh, wow! That vase is gorgeous! I understand why you were geeking out!!! I love the velvet deer painting; wish I could find one here! It would be perfect for my hubby's man cave! It would be a bear to ship though! Great video today!!
Ok / I need to stop but I went to TWO goodwills today and since I'm not a reseller I mostly just found little things for myself /// $42.10 worth of stuff for myself! But I caught myself walking along the dishes(plates and bowls) and I was touching every one of them trying to figure out the "weight" of the items since Joce always says that. And I'm sorry but I miss your flea market finds --- those are BOMB~~~
It was hidden behind the flowers obviously because somebody wanted to come back later for it LOLOLOL Don’t get me wrong I’m excited you found it! Awesome find!
Yay!!!! A lighthouse. And nooooo let Astrid stay. She's talking to us bc you're talking to us ❤💚💜💙💛 p.s. Just checked Fire and Light on eBay and wow it does sell for a really good amount and a lot of people are buying it. Now I'm really curious what it looks like and how is the weight.
I love lighthouses. Nelson (NZ) has one on the Boulder Bank. That's where I live by the way. I think it's so pretty with the blue sea as a backdrop. Cheers.
Charles Wysocki was a popular and excellent painter of Americana paintings. If you ever see a good print of his, snatch it up. They are very desirable. That Majolica vase is really beautiful.
The last picture, with the children, was a Paul Detlefsen framed print. Very popular during the 60s and also fairly re-sellable in the original frames.
Love your videos I geek also on cool stuff. I am not able to get out like I used too and it's so fun to shop with you. Also I have to tell you I love your hair style it looks awesome on you. Thanks for your much appreciated efforts and sharing your appreciation for cool stuff. You are an amazing person and thank you again!
I think the doll at minute 3:08 might be by Simpich. I live in Colorado Springs and they used to hand-make all of their collectible dolls. Thanks for your videos! I love seeing Astrid!
Hi Jocelyn! The handled basket you picked up, looks very much hand made. I used to make baskets out of reed similar to that, and I’m pretty certain, its handmade.
If the majolica vase hadn't been broken and repaired, it likely would never have been culled from the original owner, and you'd never have gotten it!🙂 For one, I'd gladly display it. My mantle would be proud to hold such a beauty!

Still an amazing find! 🥰
Just wanted to thank you for switching to the voice over when it got noisy.
I always enjoy your videos and the extra Birds 🐦 sound 🎶 absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing your day with us! ☕
I‘m from Austria and always very surprised about the austrian things in the stores 😁
How much does something like that go foor?
I love when you shop at the thrift stores, not so much at the antique store or mall.
Me too!
I 3rd that!
Same
Me too

OMG the Austrian vase was PHENOMENAL!!! That reaction is why we all love to thrift. We are all chasing that rare find!! Don't put the bird away :) We don't mind him talking.
I’m 76 years and we had that brown cookie jar all my growing up. We always thought it might be McCoy.
I love that Astrid wanted to talk too! She's always welcome!
Seriously laughing at the Astrid pictures interrupting.... love it!
Since you mentioned polishing metal, I thought I'd make sure you know about Maas metal polish. I love it! I've polished aluminum, pewter, silver, copper, brass, iron, plastic, and mother of pearl with it.
I use orphan creamers for sauces or gravy. I don't think they have to be used for just cream. So glad you picked them up! :-)
We use our little creamer to heat maple syrup in.
I love when you voice over. Store noises suck!🤣
I can’t believe the store is that noisy it was unbearable thank You for switching it it’s so fun to shop with you. Thank You for bringing us along
The Astrid cameo was so great!
Loved the turkeys and congrats on the majolica vase.
The crock you picked up was marked The Pampered Chef in huge letters on the bottom.
Yeah, Pampered Chef isn’t cheap. I found a Princess House roast Baker at Goodwill for $8 last year. Not cheap, either!
Yes I saw that
Yes..Pampered Chef has good resell. I always snatch it up.
I love your parrot, Astrid! So nice to hear the singing. :)

I totally got a Christmas story vibe too off that doll with “the fancy stand”. 🤣
I can not think of who it is but yes

The Raggedy Ann was made by Georgene, from the 40s. Even with the damaged face, she would sell well. Collectors don't mind a bit of wear and tear!
She was precious ! ❤️
Geez I wish I would have seen it I would have paid top dollar I'm a collector 😭
I just ran across this video. I'm enjoying it very much. I want to learn about dolls. I found a very interesting clown doll at the thrift store last week and a glass clown decanter
I agree. I wanted her to grab the vintage doll. I love the well-loved look!
A replica?
Love Astrid being in the video!!

Your Good Wills are so clean & organized! Lucky you!
The turkeys were 1970’s, I made one in ceramics class, that speckled glaze was also popular then.
I made brown hens in the 1980's and gave them away. My Mum is nearly 95 and she still has hers.
I love the little finger waggle blessing you give to pieces you are leaving behind.
Same!
I love it when your bird is making sounds on your videos 🙂
I absolutely love Astrid’s commentary during the voice over.
She only felt like taking while I was taking.
She's cute
so glad to hear Astrid coming into her own--I do miss hearing and seeing your birds--nice surprise!
Thanks.
It was lovley to see astrid but my goodness i jumped when she came up on the screen i wasent expecting it. The vase was amazing glad you found it.
Love the added clips of Astrid! 😁❤️

i wonder if mismatched cream and sugars, salt and peppers could become a thing like mismatched socks? Why not!
I would think yes, because then you don't have to worry if one gets broken.
I started calling mismatched socks cowboy socks to make it easier to get socks on my twins when they were three.
I love an eclectic look. If there's a really beautiful jug I want it. I'm not bothered about sets. The more beautiful things for my eyeballs the better.

That Majolica was beautiful!!!!!! I found some Majolica plates for .49 each could not believe it!!
The pitcher and plate at (4:47) next to the Christmas bowls are Lefton. My sister has the cookie jar and soup tureen.
My grandmother had the print you found, at the end of the video, in her living room! Love it

fire and light comes from my neck of the woods. I live about 45 minutes away from Arcata, CA. And you're right that is nothing like it! LOL

I really like the turkey pieces! My Aunt had a set similar setting on her shelf. Not sure whatever happened to them.
