Those big mouth frogs and or other critters are not ashtrays. Those are to hold your kitchen scrubber or S.O.S pads. They were kind of a big deal to have back in the early 70s. Everyone had one.
@@juliemacdonell6381 I still have one. My aunt made it in ceramics, 30 years ago and she just passed last fall. funny how something so small can mean a lot depending n where it came from.
It's funny how something so small triggers so many people's memories. I grew up in Va Beach Va and I remember them made out of lighthouses and all kinds of sea creatures. Back in the 60s everyone did the nautical theme at the beach. But my mom had the frog.
I'm shocked the 13 glass dollar store purple, green, orange & red glass apples & the 8 red art glass apples from each year you have taught school no longer thrill you. Well, okay then. Are you saying teachers are just regular folks? Huh.
My aunt had been a Kindergarten teacher for over 45 years. When she passed, we found dozens of boxes of high end perfumes, stationery and silk scarves, all from thankful students. There weren't gift cards ( we didn't find gift certificates) nor Starbucks then.
The doll is Greek and it is called Evzonas or Tsolias and they are members of the Presidential Guard. The uniform was very common during the Greek War of Independence, thus years later became the official uniform of the guard. Because it has a crown on it must be old, definitely before 1967.
Exactly! It was the royal guard uniform, because of the crown on the fez ,so obviously before 1967. It's traditional art, apparently hand made. I was suprised by the light hair colour though, they were usualy dark haired.
I think she found one similar about 1 year ago too (3 months before this) and hadn’t recognized it was presidential guard. I think she was thinking pirate or chef. But I recognized it too!
The fresh egg bowl is for when you have your own chickens. You don't have to refrigerate them like you do with eggs from the store. Store eggs are washed so their protective coating is removed, hence they must be refrigerated. Fresh eggs from your hens can just be placed on the countertop unwashed. You only wash just before using.
For whatever reason I didn’t want to put the fresh eggs in the fridge so I placed them in this glass chicken basket I have with it’s lid. Not knowing that it’s ok. I guess it was some instinct, So thanks for that info. :)
Anything marked Disney Parks (in the copyrighted Disney "font") is officially Disney, and is sold inside the Disney Parks; sometimes ONLY in the parks. Disney creates markets for material that you can only get if you actually walk into the parks to buy in the park stores and kiosks. Usually worth picking up, and the princesses are pretty golden. :)
Your picks take me back - I had a nursery lamp for my 46 year old son when he was a baby that was very similar to the one you picked up. And I bought a piggy bank for my daughter almost exactly like the one Dagny found. Thanks for the video!
Great finds! You were so lucky! Lately, whenever I go and the employees are restocking, certain resellers swarm them right when they come out the door. Blocking them and grabbing anything of value off the carts. I hope this Goodwill soon makes a policy about it. I feel so bad for the employees. I always admire your way of shopping. Love your videos!!!
Our goodwill stocks only once now. Right after the store closes. If people complain the next afternoon about shelves being bare, they are told "for the safety of the staff they cannot restock during business hours."
Looks like she missed another Mackenzie Childs! At 5:21 when she puts the little basket away, the blue/White heart shaped dish is screaming "Mackenzie"!
That Humpty Dumpty nursery lamp is circa 1962; my sisters and I had that very same lamp in our bedroom when we were kids. The original shade had characters from The Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme frolicking on the outside. The lamp you found is in great shape!
Your smile, enthusiasm and knowledge is priceless! Your videos are not only fun to watch but they are informative and I learn so much that I incorporate into my own thrifting! Love you and your family. You are dearly blessed
Winding down my weekend in Lancaster Pa. was at this Goodwill yesterday and today visited Lucky Dog Thrift in New Holland. Great weekend.. Hitting some of your haunts.. Happy Easter everyone..
The dark green frog were used, during the late 1960's and early 1970's, to hold the metal soaped scrubbing pads in so that they could not rust on your kitchen sink. Mine soap pad frog was brown with green worts.
The wide mouth frog is a brillo pad scrub holder for the sink. I have my mother's and use it daily. It is fun to sit on the sink in the kitchen and reminds me of her every day.
Love all your videos. I do miss the banter when you were live in the videos. Darn music plus seeing you. You are what sells your videos. Hope you know that. HH
Amen to this!! Your smile, enthusiasm and knowledge is priceless! Your videos are not only fun to watch but they are informative and I learn so much that I incorporate into my own thrifting! Love you and your family. You are dearly blessed
I always check over the clear for Pampered Chef measuring bowls. I find the small ones a lot. I have several people that just beg me for them. They pay decent for them to. I don't usually list them but a lot of people do.
The doll is a very vintage Greek doll ..The frog that you never brought is to pop your scrub thing you use for your pans in when you have finished washing up.. Always check original pieces of art like the small square one .You may be surprised , not always but sometimes ,and it’s what others like sometimes when your not up on certain things like art .Hope this helps 🥰
Do you know what they're called? Are they actually used as plates? Thanks for your help, I do estate sales with a friend and I'm always eager to learn!
My parents had the same glass crystal lighter when I was little, back in the late 80s. I think they had a matchy matchy for cigarettes also. That brought back memories.
I think the big mouth green frog sat by the1960's kitchen sink and had a scouring pad or sos pad in his mouth... And since this may be my first comment I should say hello. I've been following you around six months. Thank you for all the good info and entertainment. I've been buying "stuff" (forever) that I think will "resale for a profit" but I need to get busy and learn to sale or my family is going to label me a hoarder. Lol. I'm learning something new everyday!
Most of the people at my Goodwill will tell you to take all you want from the carts because it saves them from having to put them on the shelves. But on occasion I have been yelled at because I "might get hurt" reaching into the cart. I just look at them and smile, then turn around and roll my eyes.
Thank you so much Jocelyn I really really enjoyed your tour of the Goodwill. Your Goodwills are amazing and far better than the Charity Shops we have here in the UK 🇬🇧. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
If you shopped at our Goodwill “Jenna” would tear into you for shopping off the cart and not put things back in the same place. I think she believes she owns the store.
I love watching. The only thing I don't want to be a downer. But I was being severely abused and made to leave my home. Hired movers. They stole almost everything in my house. I had lots of collectables and of course things that meant so much to me. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Like I said. I really don't wanna b a downer. I love shopping and watching your channel. Your absolutely adorable. Its hard though because it's a trigger for me. How can anyone steal from someone who they knew was being abused and had cancer. It makes me sick. But I do love your channel very much. I definitely will continue to watch. Ty.
That skinny wooden doll with something missing on the head was a napkin holder. The napkins would be folded in half to fit into those slats on the bottom half to make a long skirt. The top was missing something but I can’t remember if it was hair and a scarf, or just blonde curly hair. ❤

and we all made one in ceramics classes. LOL Had mine for years!
My grandma had one by her sink!

Hey Jocelyn! Teachers prefer wine and Starbucks gift cards instead of glass apples! Believe me, I teach 1st grade! Lol! 🍷☕️
Teehee. Noted.

Wouldn’t we all? Well I don’t go to Starbucks, but at the school my neighbor kids go to they don’t allow gifts.
Agreed...retired teacher here..👍😉

Agreed! I’d love to have a Dagney!!
Mines my mom😉
My mother is my thrifting buddy I couldn’t ask for better person 🥰
I have a Dagney, and love thrifting with her!
Body making the ladies skirt
I love the care that Dagny takes with everything she handles!
Silly goose froggie not ashtray for kitchen sponge

Thank you for telling us that. My brother has chickens, so hm!
The little mouse in the cheese is made in west germany.. I have 3 of the mice
That green big mouth frog you had earlier is for the kitchen sink to hold your sponges.
I like !!!!!!!!! the stock.
The frog is used to hold an SOS pad or a curly tulle pot scrubber and it's meant to sit beside your kitchen taps.
My mother-in-law has one of those frogs and I always feel like it is going to gag on the scouring pad😝😢
We have obe in our flea market booth right now. They are so cute.
The frog was used to hold your scouring passion in the kitchen.
I have my grandmother's, I remember it in her kitchen when I was a kid❤
Fave Chris Farley line “You’re gonna be living...in a van...down by the river...!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂

My mom used to have a frog just like that and she used it by the kitchen sink to hold her Brillo pad 😁
LOL the frog is NOT an ashtray! It goes next to your kitchen sink and holds your scrubber sponge.
I still have a green frog sitting next to my sink 🐸
Me too. I just found one at the antique mall. Love my frog.
I had the Humpty Dumpty lamp in my daughter’s vintage themed nursery 16 years ago.
That is super! That lamp is really adorable! I love the classic retro look. Your daughter's room must have looked charming.
In Canada we call it a Canada goose too. Who ever is saying its not a Canada Goose doesnt know what they are talking about!!

That crack me up!
Me too!

Looked like It was missing a round foot on the bottom but it did look great otherwise.
The wooden lady with the broken head is a napkin holder. Triangular folded paper napkins fit in the slots to form her skirt.
Smart, I didn't think of that. I thought she was a rolling pin missing her handles. LoL
Interesting! What was missing from her head?

Doll is Greek. The traditional dress was worn by Greek soldiers during war against the Ottoman Empire. Soldier official name is "Evzone"
5the south western sand art native american art was impressive! Hard to believe you passed on it!
The large mouth frog is to be used as a holder for a scrubbing pad at your kitchen sink.
That frog I have…it is my salt pig. Some people use it to hold their scourers by the sink. Oh are a very kind person, bravo.
Winding down my weekend in Lancaster Pa. was at this Goodwill yesterday and today visited Lucky Dog Thrift in New Holland. Great weekend.. Hitting some of your haunts.. Happy Easter everyone..
You were close to me..near Gettysburg here. Is it worth the drive to hit up those Goodwill's??
The lighter is Princess House. I have the set with ashtray from the 80s
You must lead a good life without many regrets. I had to back up when you said regurt. Too funny! 😂
It comes from the meme with the permanent tattoo that says "NO REGERTS." My apologies if you knew this already...
I have the matching scarf to the Disney purse! 😍
Dagny is such a lovely and original name! Common in Scandinavian (Sweden ) countries. Hope she never considers Betsy again. Helena from Stockholm
Love when you and Dagny get cracked up about something! Partners in crime!

This is the best comment. Ebay is full of items sold here and sometimes cheaper but people love Jocelyn and that is priceless.
I think the little frog is a ceramic project and it’s to hold a kitchen sponge or Brillo pad
That apple is a durable little sucker. My friend knocked it off the shelf Thursday and it bounced twice and almost into someone elses cart.
I have a weakness for cute nursery lamps. There’s one on my nightstand right now. Some of them are just so cute!
Your mouse ridden cheese 🧀 is probably made of alabaster. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone that carves well and takes dyes easily.

The clear hands are for the salad and they hold to the salad bowl, they are great. I have them in wood
Love the cheese with the tiny mouse! Nice finds!🥰
the wooden girl that had something missing on her head I think it is a paper towel holder stick that was also missing the bottom stand part too.
Those plates that you thought felt like chalk were old & actually collectable- I’m 53 & those plates were worth quite a bit of money - ohhh well 😣😣

You can always touch up for example the frog sponge holder with finger nail paint just a thought!
That was a fun video ladies. Thanks for bringing some happiness to my day!
In the UK we call them Canada Geese
If we could get away with it, most of us would call them "dinner". 😉🇺🇸
Aw!.. I want that wooden wheelbarrow you past, the one with the strawberry picture on it...😍

another great video. Learning something new with each video.

Love the Disney purse😍
The green frog was from about the 1980s and held your plastic pot scrubber by the sink in its mouth. I think! Lol

Yes, looks like the honor guards for a palace.
I'm Canadian, I call them Canadian geese😁
I'm American. I was always told to call them Canada Geese- not Canadian. I don't know why though!
The name changed about 20 years ago. They were always "Canadian" geese, but now they're just "Canada" geese here in the US.
I love the Disney princess bag!
The frog is used for your sponges on the back of the sink. I made one in ceramic class.
Great haul!! Thanks for always sharing! Love you!

The Russian pieces are wonderful. I received a 8" "vase" for my wedding in 1971. Yrs I still have it in full view.
