I’m 80 and thriving on strictly carnivore diet. Been at it going on my third year. Got totally fed up with doctors always giving me the wrong advice and lecturing me about my occasional jaunts into ketovore eating., yet never thinking twice about giving me yet one more medication. Breaking loose from the intimidation, I chose my own way and completely killed my diabetes 2 in only a month. Let’s hear it for getting better informed and confident enough to stand on my on my hind legs . I’ve never felt better 👍

I see the aftermath almost daily. For over a decade I’ve been doing removals for funeral homes. It’s one of the most common sights, If someone dies in bed, to see all the meds on night stands. One time I swear I counted 36 vials. I recently visited a hospital with a Walgreens IN IT. How is that not conflict of interest..

I am clinical pharmacist (based in Hospital in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and de-prescribing or "medication debridement" is one of my favorite "pharmacist's intervention" in preventing or resolving Drug Related Problems (DRPs) in pharmacotherapy. I.e. "No indication for drug" is one of the most common causes of DRPs in my clinical practice. I am also a big fan of Diet Doctor :) Thank you for the amazing interview and wish you a very good luck. Kind regards, Gordana

The two big takeaways from this video, for me, are:
"Bad night's sleep: hypoglycemia the next day", and
"Poison with calories in it" (referring to ultra-processed foods)
I had to figure-out the first one, by myself. Medical professionals would not acknowledge the sleep/hypoglycemia connection. But I learned that after a night with inadequate sleep, in order to avoid the otherwise-inevitable hypoglycemic meltdowns, I had to refrain from eating, and when I did eat, to only have boiled eggs with olive oil, or a poached chicken breast drenched in olive oil - and nothing else. I consider that discovery to be the result of Divine Intervention. Hopefully, others plagued with dysglycemia, will be similarly led, via this video, to ketogenic/fasting strategies.

    Great discussion!
Testing is not enough when people have been bombarded with "healthy fruit & vege, whole grain, low fat, reduce sat fat, low salt, no eggs, no bacon, more seed oils, no butter, etc" during the past 50 yrs - this info is deeply rooted in our memory-genes.
Btw the gut microbiom is established from early age, thus the food provided by parents during childhood maybe have a bigger impact on health outcome than our own genes?
Another thing kids learn early on from their parents is the eating & cooking habits.

Excellent discussion. Refreshing to hear such a balanced, eye-opening, and helpful viewpoint.
Graham Phillips highlights the “man-made” nature of modern diseases, and promotes the understanding of how lifestyle can change things (tethering the horse) in a powerful preventative way that pharma cannot compete with (shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted).
We as individuals have the power and the time to change and manage our own lives and lifestyle for the better. I was heartened to hear that where patients are given a meaningful choice between medication and lifestyle, where each is explained to the individual (including matters of sleep hygiene), there is an appetite for lifestyle change in preference to medication. Music to my ears. So pleased that Graham mentioned the work of Dr David Unwin too, he has been giving patients choice and hope to excellent effect over a number of years.
    👍

I’ve been saying for the past year or two that I believe We are pioneers in the carb-choice lifestyle generation. One of the most spectacular groups are those of us who are 60 & above! From time to time we are following you guys and gals on one of these UA-cam podcasts and a conversation among us over-sixties takes off and we all have the same experiences! I’m 80 and usually alone at the top of the age group, yet I’m right in the mix with everyone else. We seem to be angry because we’ve been blamed for our D2, knowing full well we are coming from former vegetarian and vegan and otherwise responsible dietary lives backgrounds. We feel we’ve been deceived by lazy and fearful doctors.
Pioneers for sure. We always either suspected or knew that it was the foods we were offered.

Exactly!! Especially the part ‘being blamed’ by every doctor in the country. This constant humiliation takes a toll on self esteem and PROMOTES anger-eating. I’m also seeing the vegetarian crowd as being very cultish and mean spirited.

I really like Graham's enthusiasm for change and indeed it could be possible. We seem to be coming up on an inflection point. The body of research is strongly supporting the reduction of carbs in the diet. And the current state of medical practice is at a point of epic failure. Medical practice has been grinding the wheels and gears with little forward progress with the main excuse being that there is no better alternative. Many many stakeholders have been shielding themselves with that argument and the question is who will start walking-back from their stated positions first.

The way it's going leaving drugs is the first step for me, I might have to give up all the people who have been fooled by the lies and live in an isolated world. How gullible we have become or how blindingly saturated are the lies of the ''system''. Either way, it's thought provoking.

Dr. Brett. I can tell you that many pharmacists in the US practice and support low carb diet. I think it is the way of payment structure that we won't get paid for what we do until we get a provider status. Sadly we got pushed back which preventing us to do that. That's the difference we have compared to UK. There are many pharmacists who practicing right now. Check out Dr. Jodi Nishida, low-carb practitioner. She has been practicing and help many patients in Hawaii for so many years.

It would be wonderful if doctors would prescribe a low-carb diet. But I remember back when I was overweight my doctor encouraged me to lose weight (with tired old advice), but I was kind of offended that I was paying to have someone tell me what was obvious--I needed to lose weight. If he had told me to eat a keto diet I probably wouldn't have believed him. I found keto by chance listening to Dr.Ken Berry on YT.

Great talk. Informative & enthusiastic! I think things are slowly starting to change but health professionals need to know about nutrition & sleep etc, rather than just handing out pills like sweets. I’m 60+ & on no meds. I was put on statins 3 years ago but couldn’t tolerate them so stopped after 6 months. With all I’ve learnt over the last year from people like Dr Aseem Malhotra (consultant cardiologist in UK) I would never accept statins in the future. Big Pharma & Big Food have no interest in health as there’s no money in it. The one feeds the other. Something has to change because health systems around the world are buckling under the strain of treating sick people, just basically putting a sticking plaster on problems instead of trying to find out the root cause.

There has also been people who base line sugar goes up on carnivore for example when blood sugar levels have remained low. Is this bad? I dont know, just find it interesting.
