Missing is how you got the lower shock bolt to line up well enough to hand tighten then wrench tighten in the mount . it looks so easy on your video, but folks doing this job can spot things,
I don't recall a struggle with the lower bolt on this job. Yes, absolutely they can be tough to align. But I can't make it look harder than it was in this case.
That stud that sticks up at the top of the shock doesn’t seem to fit with a 6mm, at least I’ve tried with one and can’t seem to get anything to grab it
I'm a little surprised to hear that. The owner of this car selected these shocks and he is thorough with researching products for quality. I'm going to ask him about this.
Yeah I third this kyb are junk now a days I've heard Monroe's have lasted longer and out performed kybs three to one so I think I'm good on paying 120 dollars a peice for a shock absorber that'll shit out in two weeks
In a climate with road salt and de icing agents the lower bolts will not come out without cutting and chiseling the shock mouth eye. I'm glad I have a beefy compressor and proper air tools because otherwise I couldn't have done this job.
I used this video like a rented mule, I felt that I at least had to comment. Very helpful thank you!

I kind of hate that style of stud. In the past I have used a vice grip pliers to get a hold of that.
Those monroe shocks are low quality. I would recommend KYB next time.

Yeah, second that.

You were lucky the shock bolt wasn’t frozen in the old shock and didn’t break. It’s quite common
